not surprising!
And probably a good thing. As much as I’ve been down on him, he still is solid on ST’s.

Too bad...
it was from a late hit, and not in regular season action. He worked so hard to get back too.

It's a real SOB
Rumors are that some possible cuts are:
Lamont Jordan
Sammy Morris
Justin Fargas
So… let’s see what happens. Fargas would be a good fit.

Just reading on the Raiders board the other week
I have M Bush on my FF team… they were talking about Fargas maybe being cut. They’re deep at RB.

No one in the Bay Area will be surprised if Fargas is cut
including Fargas. Word is they love Bush and of course there is no way they get rid of McFadden, so there really is no room for Fargas in Oakland, but he would be a great get to spell Forte, a true change of pace back. While he would prefer to go somewhere he can be the featured back, being the backup RB on a legit SB contender has a certain appeal I am sure.

we saw some potential in him earlier in the offseason and our secondary certainly isn’t stellar.

Marcus Hamilton

Dan Buenning getting cut... maybe means my man Lance Louis is stickin!
With K Jones out, it may open a spot for M Gaines to stick as a 4th TE, since our offense is going to be very TE heavy. Aslo, since we’re only keeping one FB right now (McKie), Gaines is versatile enough to play FB in jumbo and as a backup.

Exactly...
third and goal on the one yard line, have Olsen, Clark, Keller, and Gaines on the field at the same time with Forte, that would be sick, defenses wouldn’t have any idea what to expect, Forte up the middle or play-action pass, because all of those guys are credible receiving threats.

No Surprises Really
I thought Clermond looked as good as or better than Mark Anderson, but I suppose he was only playing against 2d and 3rd teams.
I knew Jones would have ligament damage. No way that was a sprain. Hate to see that happen. I find it very hard to believe Oakland will release Fargas.
Man I hope they can figure out a way to turn Wolfe into a real RB. I worry that Forte will just take too many hits given all the touches he gets running and receiving.

but the Pats dropped Andrew Walter, I remember a week or so ago, the Bears were interested do we go after him?
by chase17 on Sep 4, 2009 4:35 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
no.
We don’t need three QBs on the roster. Hanie is solid, and we can run the wildcat if we’re lacking depth to injury in one game.
Besides, I think there will be better QBs out there when more cuts come. Walter showed little in his chance with the Raiders. He’s a hole plug, not much else.

If Forte goes down
neither Wolfe (despite his Garrett Wolfe-ness whatever that is, too small and falls over if someone lays a finger on him I guess) nor AP is capable of stepping in. They have to get another RB.

actually
AP’s career numbers (300 or so carries, 1,200 yards) aren’t bad. He could step in Forte goes down.
And Garrett Wolfe-ness is exactly what lookingdeadred said.
My Garrett Wolfe love is half sarcastic, because he’s done about half of nothing in the NFL. He’s a substandard player who I want to succeed who also happens to have the best name this side of ‘Ziggy Hood’.

AP is not ready to be the featured back for even a few games
he lacks the skill and I suspect he lacks the endurance. At best he can be your third RB as long as he continues to contribute as he has on special teams.

I don't know that they're locks...
my guess is the Bears will pick up the best available RB after this weekend and could still cut one of the two. Don’t forget, just because they make the 53 man squad now, doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be there in a week or two. I could see them picking up a RB to see how long it takes him to get with the system and then get rid of AP or GW and bring someone up from the practice squad or off the waiver wire at a different position.

Jones showed a lot of power. If KJ has shown you mediocrity, what has Wolfe shown you? He’s a sheep in an NFL uniform…that’s what Garret Wolfe is. I used to think, having watched him in college, too, that he could be good. But, he has not shown much over two plus years.

Special Teams
And a bunch of those guys are injury prone or have already been injured in preseason: Tillman, Vasher, Bowman, Manning. The rest are unproven. This is our weakest position so why not keep a lot of average players so you can rotate when bad play or injuries strike. I could easily see us having like 3 or 4 different starters throughout the season at various DB positions.

The Texans released....
CB Deltha O’Neal (Yahoo! Sports Player Profile Link). He was the Texans’ version of “the interceptor” as he had 10 interceptions in 2005-2006, but failed to play at a high level after that season. I’m sure he will find a job with another NFL team very, very soon.

does he have more left in the tank
than Vasher?
I always turn to the sports section first. The sports page records people's accomplishments; the front page has nothing but man's failures.

IMO, the only thing Vasher has in the tank
is too much guaranteed money.
