There must be some kind of malfunction or bug on that interactive chart.
It says Josh Bullocks is on our team. Crap.

Vasher is starting?
Why?
Formerly Scespy12... needed a better name!

He's better than McBride
I’d even prefer Graham over Vasher and McBride.

this has to be wrong
green bay will torch us if these r our starters against them

That must not be running right yet
Can’t see how McBride gets in over Graham.
They have Afalava starting at SS, which I’m fine with, but nobody backing him up and all the other safeties listed as back-up FS. Shouldn’t that almost be the other way around? Seems like we have plenty of SS, but are kind of lacking in the FS position. IMO
Tillman isn’t listed either, and he has to be taking up a roster spot if he isn’t on the PUP.

If they were going
to make that real interactive, they would have it so you could put the offense into different formations (ie goal-line, two TE, etc, etc) and the defense into the nickel package.

did not know that
Desmond Clark is the back up long snapper
by Zarco on Sep 7, 2009 11:00 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah
In fact, he accidentally got selected to the pro bowl a couple years ago since he was listed as a long snapper and the NFC needed one of those.

McBride and Vasher?
Over Bowman and Graham? I hope that some sick mistake has been made.

thats not right.
I have seen a QB and it was good.

If Vasher and McBride are our staring corners, then we are bleeped!
And Daniel Manning is definately missing from the list all together…

Depth chart
That list is pretty craptastic. Rodgers and company will torch us if Vasher and McBride play all game.

This has to be the longest week before the season.
six more days seems way too long. However to make this comment relevant to the post.. I think Peanut, Manning, and Bowman will all play Sunday night.
I have seen a QB and it was good.

No surprises on the offense, except
who is this “Cutler” character? I don’t know that I’m familiar with him…

so we have two people starting that would've
been cut by any other team.If this is the real starting line up I think I’ll get some sleep instead of staying up til 2am to watch the game. I guess they just want to see if cutler can win a shoot out with rodgers

All due respect
There are some pretty craptastic players on other teams as well.
Don’t get me wrong, not excited about those guys… lets just put it in perspective… just about every team has holes.

OMG WTF!!! Another strike for Lovie. This is the right depth chart. For opening day, that’s what it says on chicagobears.com.
by bears rock on Sep 8, 2009 7:32 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Just because
chicagobears.com says it’s the opening day roster means nothing. Lovie could put Bowman in there and Manning as well. Just because someone starts doesn’t mean they are going to play the entire game.

Folks...
Say what you want about a couple of players on this list, do you remember it was only a few months ago when our biggest offensive hope as a fan base is that we could sign Terrence Metcalf in free agency?
We have come a long, LONG way since the end of the season.
Are we there yet? No. But this is a MUCH better team than the one that won 9 games last year, without any doubt.
by sabbath999 on Sep 8, 2009 8:51 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
so are the teams in our division.
with mcbride and vasher starting it might be a long season. I just can’t agree with those two,
by njddgd on Sep 8, 2009 9:17 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nope
I don’t remember anybody giving a tinkers damn about Metcalf. But I do remember that some of us got in a swivet over John St. Clair. Heh.
We carried half a million defensive backs on our roster and only one of them (the injured one) is a proven, legit NFL starter. Some of them have potential, others are scrubs. And the only way this is going to get sorted out is by playing the game. Not trying to blow off the concerns — they’re legitimate — but it’s a team game. Let’s see how they do.
I remember last year I predicted the offensive line was going to collapse, and on paper, that made sense. I was wrong. A good lesson.
And the prevailing wind happens to be blowing from Vichy.

Maybe it's a ploy to put the other teams at ease
and then we move out our true starters:
In a stunning moves today we acquire:
1) Ed Reed from the Ravens
2) Nnamdi Asomugha from the Raiders
3) Champ Bailey from the Broncos
4) Troy Polamalu from the Steelers
I was able to get this trades through on my Xbox so why not in real life?

In madden 09
I got Cutler, Boldin, and Plax. Traded Grossman and a few picks. Pulled of the Cutler trade before he actually got traded. He was the only QB any team would give me. It was funny that he’s actually a Bear. Is Madden like a Crystal Ball???

it would be interesting
if fans ran the team. If we could all vote for who to draft, who to sign, who to cut, coaches to hire/fire, everything but the play calling it would be interesting.

i like this idea
if i ever become an owner of a nfl team i will do that. but if i did that somehow grossman would be voted back on the team.

No, if they had actual control, Favre would still be there.
Come to think of it, Bart Starr would still be there.

of course, Sid Luckman in Chicago.

BTW,
if this fan was in control, the only way Brett Favre would still be there would be if he had been willing to accept a backup/mentor role with the same class shown in Detroit by Daunte Culpepper.

Sure, but was that your attitude
before the 08 season, or only after you got to see Rodgers for 16 games?

Before!
I was among those arguing on Ted Thompson’s behalf against the TT haters in the GB Press-Gazette’s forums throughout the whole circus last year.
You see, when Favre initially announced his retirement from the Packers, I was surprised, just like everyone else; but the feeling of surprise was quickly replaced by one of relief, for I had feared Favre hanging around long enough to result in the free agency departure of Rodgers, in whom I already believed, and for whose presence on the Packers I was already thankful to the 49ers.
I told Packers fans last summer that the Packers held all the cards and that if they would simply refuse to start, trade or release Favre, then he would be forced to choose between retirement or a backup role.
As much as the national media has blasted Ted Thompson for how he handled the situation, he actually did, each step of the way, what I’d been hoping he was going to do (except trade Favre; but, I am enough of a realist to understand why that had to be done for the good of our locker room).
No, there is a large number of Packer fans who have been converted from defending Favre last year to singing Rodgers’ praises this year, but I am happy to say that I am not one of them.
To loosely paraphrase Rodgers’ statement to Packers fans last summer, I was already on board, so no need for me to shut up. LOL.
The glass is more than half-full.

as a bears fan i like farve
just because of his toughness. I wanted to see him do well last year. and everyone was on his band wagon til the last five games or so. This year i could careless what farve does cause all his back and forth crap and thats all that was ever on espn and nfl network brett farve watch.

It sounds as if
you have finally begun to see the light.
For the record, I was on Favre’s ship right up until he tried to force his way, at the end of the summer, onto what had firmly been transformed into Rodgers’ team.
I then began to understand him for the attention-grabbing, prima donna drama queen that he has become.
It has been sad to see.
In regards to your statement that
everyone was on his band wagon til the last five games or so, it has been thus for Favre for the past four seasons.
During the time from 2005-2008, Favre’s TD to INT ratio was 3:2 before Thanksgiving and was roughly 2:5 after Thanksgiving.
So, this is nothing new for The Bratt.
I loved Favre for what he used to be; I don’t care for what he has become.
The glass is more than half-full.

i think he
would rather have kept it quiet but you know the media they always need a answer. honestly how many times a day do you change your mind about something. But know one really knows because they are not following your every move. They were reporting on what he had for breakfast hoping it would let everyone know what he was doing. it got blown out the water.
