Morrissey is a f--kin douchebag
It sure is easy to talk sh-t about a dead guy who leaves two young kids behind. People wanna say running u the score in a playoff game is classless how bout saying how bad GA was then towards the end of the article try to make seem like your not really. This is why paper news is becoming redundant.

on a happier note
I would like to see the WR coach from indy come in here. Those recievers are pretty good, of course they have Manning. Maybe we can sign 9:26:31 AM this offseason or Chester Taylor.

Gaines Adams death affects many in different ways...
Hopefully I do not come off as insensitive in regards to Gaines Adams death. My prayers go out to his family. However, I can’t help, but to think about the business aspect and how it affects me as a fan. Of course, if I knew Mr. Adams than his death would have had an emotional effect on me. My question is, how come the Bucs and Bears not properly evaluate this guy, medically, pre/post trade to identify his enlarge heart? For these two organizations to not do their due diligence to medically screen him properly, for me, it was an injustice to his family and fans that followed him, and Bear fans that barely knew Gaines Adams. Did Angelo overlook the most value piece of any trade, a players health, because of his friend and ties to the Bucs organization and took Adams on good faith, like if I would buy a car from my friend? I couldn’t imagine my friend selling me a lemon. Or did the Bucs know about his heart condition or other unhealthy activities and didn’t make that information available to the Bears. This Gaines Adams trade for Angelo is just another notch on his fail GM saga.
He had a clean bill of health
You would need an echo-cardiogram to discover the condition of his heart. It’s not usually something prescribed by doctor without warning signs.

Heart condition like that in short period of time....don't know about that.
I’m not a doctor but really doubt someone heart turns for the worst as fast as Adams did after the battery of test conducted over his NFL career (start of training camp, trades, contracts etc…). Yet, if I’m trying to improve my team and mindful of the salaries players are getting paid today. If I was an owner, I would like to know every possible thing medically about that player. As a fan, I would hope my teams would thoroughly check out, at least, their high priced players to ensure they’ll live up to their contract – physically – before slapping down big bucks or send assets in return for a guy.
From the Mulligan artical
He passed a medical exam when the Bears traded for him and again at the end of the season. No one knew his great big heart simply would give out.

I haven't found any news about the precise events that occured
Did he collapse during/after an intense workout like other athletes have? Did he have chest pains and ignored them because at 26, he wasn’t alarmed by them?

Yeah I don't know
Was he working out at 6-7am in the morning? I guess it’s possible he came early after a session and didn’t feel good.

I like Tice as O-line coach
I think the man knows football and has the fire to motivate. He is a good pick up no matter what the OC situation.
If i owned the team...

Semi-nice article by Morrisey
Sad, very sad stuff. Mark me down as one fan who thought Adams would play well under Rod’s tutelege. RIP.

It's a sad story of course... about somebody we didn't get to know yet.
And my condolences go out.
However… looking forward to the impact this has on the Bears organization, this is a HUGE problem.
They spent their 2nd round pick to acquire Adams, entering an offseason in which two of their DEs (Ogunleye and Anderson) are free agents. Now, they will have to replace three DEs, without a single draft pick in the first two rounds…. in a draft that experts are saying is one of the deepest in years. The Patriots have had the foresight to build up 7 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next two drafts. The Bears have done the exact opposite.

Yeah but
Anderson is restricted without a new CBA, and Wale is not going to be very “coveted” on the open-market after having a 6.5 sacks, and may come back on an average deal. Kampman, Vanden Bosch, Burgess, and Little are all available if the Bears believe they’re an upgrade from Ogun.

Yes... Ok... free agents will be available.
But… it’s still a giant problem, when you’re going to have to sign 3 guys at one position in an offseason. Anderson may be a RFA, but the Bears will still have to decide to re-sign him.

They acquired Adams
because of the free agent situation they have on their own roster.

I believe they want Anderson back
It is a glaring problem right now, and I realize trading for Adams was a move for the future. It’s a horrible loss, but Gaines wasn’t ensured success just cause of Marinelli’s tutoring.

And BTW.... Chan Gailey is now rumored to be the next Bears interview

Maybe Norv Turner will get fired for losing in the playoffs yet again
And we can replace one Turner with another.

No
Because he would bring Ron back as a QB Coach or Special Assistant to the OC…

gains adams
I know i might look like a jerk here, but it seems to me that the past couple years, that the medical staff and Angelo were not prepared in checking out players medical situations. 1st we have Williams who was a 1st round draft pick and had a back injury that they apparently knew about before they drafted him. he was out most of the season last year. 2nd they use a 2nd round draft pick on a guy with an enlarged heart, who tragically ends up dieing. They need to do a much better job on medical evaluations for their players, and try to avoid these problems.

Cuttino Mobley heart problem was made public after being traded to the Knicks.
The Knicks doctors at the time of trade identified this his condition after all other NBA team that he played tried to hide it and had him sign waviers if he wanted to play. The Bears knew about Gaines Adams heart condition.
Examining players for these types of conditions are normal practices.
