...where it's short and sweet this morning.
Rod Marinelli had big plans for Gaines Adams. Good story from Larry Mayer.

Good story on Buddy Ryan... he's making a road trip to watch his son coach.
Seifert has a really good piece on Leslie Frazier.

*Sigh*
The Saint got back to the NFC Championship before we even got back to the playoffs. Alcohol take me away!
(After work of course)
Seriously
The decisions made since the SB have been nothing short of a disaster.

Whoops alert!
The Leslie Frazier link is the same as the Buddy Ryan story link. Feel free to delete this after a fix.
Thanks SaintCee!

Brett Farve..sigh
O.K., I agree he is the toughest player to ever play QB, with all his consecutive starts and everything, but in my opinion he was not a great post season performer, neither was Marino albeit Marino’s teams were never as good as Farve’s mid 90’s teams. I still think Marino was a great QB even without the Super Bowls, and Farve is a great QB as well.
So, top 5 because he played long enough to hold every major QB position, sure. Now that being said, If Peyton Manning wins at least 1 more Super Bowl and plays for say..6 more years without injury..he will break probably every single record Farve owns except for interceptions and with another Super Bowl to boot.
Of course noone can predict this will happen for sure, but I still think Peyton Manning is skillset wise, the MJ of QB’s, all he needs is another Super Bowl or 2 and a few more injury free years to pad some stats and he will be the all time best.
the only
one that manning wont hold that favre has is the interceptions. Lol
"If you call them, they will come." - Jerry Angle/Lovie Smith after vacating the OC spot
manning is the best of his era...but
the game is so different today than it was in the 60s,70s,80s. couple of shots to the head by a wilbur marshall might change his perspective on life.
agreed
Which is why i would never question the greatness of say Johnny U or Terry Bradshaw or Roger Staubach to name a few. Those guys were tough.

tough for their era...
They didn’t see 310 pound defensive tackles very often in their day. I think the game is a lot more violent today than it was in their day. Most players are out to hit somebody and knock them out rather than tackle them.
couldn't disagree more
the rules then allowed brutal hits. there was no “in the grasp” bs. intentional grounding was not allowed.
you could argue
that the rule changes were because the game was becoming more violent. maybe the rules we have today weren’t necessary back in their day.
sure you could
but that’s why manning never had this happen to him

Raiders HC Tom Cable, to the best of anyone’s knowledge, was unaware that Hue Jackson was coming to Oakland today for an interview.
Amazing!

No, that is an incorrect answer...
It’s not amazing, it’s Al Davis, or, par for the course.

Also, I wondered in yesterday's Coordinator Open Thread
if Jim Fassel would ever come back to the NFL as an OC… well, looks like he’s been interviewed for a HC position.

Looks like
he’s part of the revival tour for old coaches.

One mystery solved — Ravens QB coach Hue Jackson is going to Oakland to interview for the Raiders offensive coordinator job.
I seriously hope the Bears bring this guy in for a interview. Hmm, Cutler or Russell? I think the state of the Bears offense is in better shape than the Raiders.

The Bears would need to...
1.) Ask permission to speak with Jackson.
2.) Be granted permission to speak with Jackson.
3.) Have enough forethought to do #1 & #2

The Frazier one?
I fixerized that half an hour ago… is it still not the Frazier article?
Sending condolences and peaceful thoughts to the family and community of Gaines Adams.
I know it was (past tense)... but I changed it (I thought)
half an hour before you posted your comment telling me it is wrong. So, either it is still wrong, or you are just letting me know that it was wrong, even though it has already been fixed.

Twisted as it is to say..
Favre is probably a top 5 QB overall…but Peyton Manning will knock him off that list well before he retires.
Notes from Jeff Dickerson's interview on Waddle & Silvy on ESPN 1000.
• Silvy brings up Bill Callahan as OC to JD. Dickerson said Callahan has the background. and it would be a step up from what he’s doing now. But not to discredit him it’s hard not to look good when you’re coaching D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, etc, with the Jets, Rice and Brown in Oakland.
• Dickerson brings up Hugh Jackson. Said the Bears would be wise to bring in for a interview depending what goes on with Oakland. Nobody know’s exactly what job he’s interviewing for in Oakland. He’s been successful as the QB coach in Baltimore, was the OC in Atlanta.
• Dickerson would rather see the Bears go after someone who’s had success with a team, rather than going after someone who’s been fired. IE, Jackson, Chudzinski.

Also, on the the Jackson comments…the year in ATL is not a good example. Pettrino quit in December and Vick was out. From 2004-06 he was the WR coach in Cincy.
Dickerson said nothing on DC candidates.

I wonder about the DC candidates personally.....
I mean I have heard of no other names than fewell….and now that hes out not even a peep about what they might do there….Not even media speculation that I have seen….
