I hope

Favre does not drag this out all offseason for the 3rd consecutive year. I cannot handle the sports world being dominated by that headline for the entire off season, again. Id much rather get a lobotomy and have my eyes removed and ears sewed shut, than wait through another 6 months of that annoyance.

It took Earl Bennett an entire year to learn Turner's playbook...

How is this never ending search for an offensive coordinator going to affect players like Bennett who struggle learning the playbook? And why do I envision an scenario where Angelo and Smith are standing on a podium with Ron Turner as they tell us they finally found the Offensive Coordinator that they’ve been looking for?

by Silence_Dogood on Jan 25, 2010 7:49 AM CST reply actions

Bennett wasn't going to get on the field

as a rookie and had to learn all the receiver positions, it’s not because he couldn’t learn Turner’s playbook.

by PolishSausage.Ditka.Bears. on Jan 25, 2010 9:22 AM CST up reply actions

Bennett attended Vanderbilt, the Northwestern of the south. The problem wasn't Bennetts, it was having to learn all three receiver positions.

You have to be academically able to cut it at Vanderbilt, they don’t cut corners with athlete eligibility, just like Northwestern. Also, Earl was Valedictorian at his HS, so the implication that he’s slow is offensive and possibly racist.

Ten things I think I know:

1 b. It’s amazing how few people with existing jobs want to work under Lovie Smith in Chicago. That always says as much about how tenuous a head coach’s job security is as anything else.

1 c. Remember eight months ago, when Jerry Angelo could have run for mayor in Chicago after the Jay Cutler trade? Seems like eight years ago.

Of course

Who the hell wants to work for a guy who is going to get fired? or better yet, a guy who is unwilling to let this person run his own system the way he wants? I bet Chudzinski had different ideas that didn’t mesh with the all-knowing and all-wise Lovie, mainly doing what Lovie wants, that failed to impress. This offseason is showing just how big a joke this team really is and now Philllips and Lovie are looking like complete jackasses. Why did they assume that everyone was beating down their door to work here? idiocy that’s why. We’re going to have an even worse season this year so we have to hang on for a bit longer Bears fans.

Agreed

I’ve heard about whining but jeez. They’re blaming the refs. The billion turnovers and 12 men on the field penalty had nothing to do with the loss. And that if they bothered to look at the replay, the low hit on Favre was accidental. The defender was pushed into Favre by Favre’s own lineman. So again, suck it Vikes fans!

It's pretty easy to get upset about calls that didn't go your way in a loss

I saw quite a few penalties the Vikings committed that weren’t called. They were getting quite a few of those. I had to be gracious in defeat a few years ago when the Saints lost to the Bears because I knew that my team lost. The scoreboard showed that, but I still know Saints fans who obsess about that conference championship game and say it was rigged. Maybe this will get them to shut up because I’ve been over that loss for years now.

I’m just glad we don’t have to hear or see another Favre post-game interview for at least another year.

Yeah, I’m not sure how fans can blame the refs when the Vikes turned the ball over twice inside the ten, and had a very costly penalty which very well could’ve ended the game.

cause it took them out of FG range, and cause them to pass the ball rather than giving it to AP.

Over at APC, nearly every time the Packers lost, Vikings fans (some of them, not all) would come over to gloat. In fact, at one point, someone who is a Vikings fan chastised Vikings fans for doing this, and then told me that we could go over and trash-talk at DN after the Vikings’ next loss.

From Dickerson

Believe it or not, there was some speculation Sunday that Chudzinski failed to “blow away” the Bears during his interview, and that fact, coupled with San Diego’s desire to bring him back, squashed any chance of the coach landing in Chicago.

Let’s start by saying you can’t blame Chudzinski if he decided to take a pass on the Bears job. How could you? He’s already got a solid gig with the Chargers, and since Turner just signed an extension, the security factor is certainly in Chudzinski’s favor if he opts to return to San Diego. …….

What’s fascinating is this idea the Bears weren’t impressed by Chudzinski. ………

This is not meant to be an insult, but does anybody possess offensive expertise at Halas Hall?………….
