Bengals: Zampese will stay in Cincinnati

Kenzampese-nflphoto__1__medium
Vaughn McClure is reporting that Ken Zampese will be staying with the Bengals.

According to the article, the Bears never tendered an offer, and the Bengals gave Zampese a time frame in which he had to make a decision.

Zampese was never a topline candidate, but this is still another PR blow for the team that people are supposed to line up to work for.

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis told the Tribune that Zampese will remain as the team's quarterbacks coach next season. After Zampese interviewed with the Bears for the position Jan 12-13, Lewis gave his coach a week to make a decision.

Well, this isn't that shocking, really. So we pin all of our hopes on Hugh Jackman Hue Jackson?

Reply Fail.

Anyways, I so saw that coming. Who’s next?

The only time the Mets win is in the offseason.

This is rapidly turning into a bad joke.

Here’s what I think is happening; Lovie wants Martz but Angelo said no, so now Lovie’s turning down every OC candidate until he finally “forces” Angelo to let him have Martz. Pathetic.

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.

Well Pompei said on CTL that this was the case

that Lovie wanted to bring martz on but that “people within the organization said no”…..He did not say who the people were however…..

Today Pompei said that the Bears have only had 3 people that they interviewed or tried to interview….and only one really turned them down (bates) due to job security….zampese and chudzinski did not interview well with the Bears…..Pompei also stated that NFL perception is NOT that the Bears can not fill the jobs just that they are taking their time and “doing their homework to make an important hire”…..

Pompei also stated that he had talked to people around the league that did say that the Bears job was desirable if the years and money is right….Even comparing it to the raiders situation saying that they can get head coaches to come in there……

Kaplan though stated that he had talked to a few coaches that said that they would not come to the Bears due to the lame duck situation and the fact that HC wants to stick the “out dated” cover 2 scheme……

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...."

Not too long ago, Lovie wanted Terry Shea,

Angelo said, if that’s who you want, then you have to compromise, and allow me to hire Ron Rivera.

Terry Shea last one horrible, lousy season… and has never got another OC gig in the NFL again. Rivera has been coaching for a team in the postseason for the last 5 seasons.

"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that." -- Jerry Angelo (12.30.2008)

Jerry Angelo trades for Jay Cutler! (4.2.2009)

So why does Lovie hate Rivera?

Rivera was a Bears player and has a ton of loyalty to the organization. I don’t get it.

Doesn't Pompei shoot himself in the foot by saying we only tried to interview 3 people for OC?

We tried to interview Clement’s from GB. Shot down. And again, how does someone not interview well with Phillips, Angelo, and Lovie? Given their lack of expertise (Phillips had to use contractors to find a GM and Lovie can’t pick coaches for crap) would acing an interview with them even be a good thing?

Oh, and Wolverine may well make a fine DC.

He could at least act like one….

I've never seen

this many reports talking about coaches not taking a promotion. As a fan, this is pretty embarrassing.

"But it doesn't matter what I do, what I choose. I'm what's wrong. This is fate" - Dexter season 4....I mean Lovie season 6.

I thought the exact same thing that all of you probably thought..

when Angelo and Lovie stated in the press conference that people will “Want” to come here and coach, that it is a very desirable job. How many weeks ago was that?
