NFL Pro Bowl Open Thread: Looking Out for Johnny Knox
With roster spots being occupied by names like Urlacher, Kreutz, Pace, Olsen, Hester, and Cutler, it is a bit shocking to know that the only member of the Chicago Bears playing in this year's All Star Game is a rookie from Abilene Christian. A name that many people quickly added to their Fantasy Football rosters after the first few weeks of the 2009 season, Johnny Knox will undoubtedly represent not only the Bears in great fashion, but also the entire National Football Conference.
Here's a link to the updated AFC and NFC rosters for tonight's event in Miami; kickoff is at 7:20pm ET for the first ever Pro Bowl played before the Super Bowl. Commissioner Roger Goodell says he may keep it that way in the future.

Thoughts on keeping the Pro Browl before the Super Bowl?
Not I good idea, IMO.
Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

What do you think would work best?
Making more talent competitions?
I don’t think the Pro Bowl should have implications on who is the “home team” in the Super Bowl.

Yeah i agree defnitly not what they do in the mlb with their all star game.
A few years ago i know they would have skill competitions like the strongest man fastest man. throwing drills runningback reciever drills i liked those because you get to see players out of their shell. i mean in the pro bowl you cant even BLITZ!!!!! wtf
What do you think cubs fan?
by Bear Lovin 21 on Jan 31, 2010 5:57 PM CST up reply actions
I completely agree.
Needs more of those competitions. I’ve always thought the players don’t view this as a “real” game any longer.
If that’s the case, we definitely need more competitions that involve the same skills they display on the field, but not always have to do.

the rules ruin the competition of the game
might as well make the Pro Bowl the first pre season game in August

I think its good to have the Pro Bowl
before the SB because people still care to watch it. After the SB everyone forgets about football. The NFL only cares about Ratings and those Ratings pay the players salaries, so be glad the nfl is doing this instead of adding an extra game to the season, which would cause more injuries. Anyting to make a buck.
Then would you prefer having extra competitions, such as Bear Lovin 21 and I were discussing earlier?

No, I don't want players getting injured before the playoffs
It is pointless to add an extra game. Unlike Baseball, football is a violent sport and the healthiest teams usually win in the playoffs. The Pro Bowl is meant to be fun and fun for the players and their families. It does not need to count towards anything. True fans will enjoy seeing their heroes gun it out. Its a reward for the best and fan favorites.
Trust me, I'm just watching for the laughs.

I used to like the week of the Pro Bowl...
The QB Challenge, the veterans playing flag football, etc, was fun to watch. Nowadays, not so much.

We have much bigger needs then a RB with our first pick.
OL is top priority

ok
Maybe in the 4th round. We can take a guard with the 3rd. Or maybe a saftey. We need help everywhere. We need another running back. Forte just can’t cut it if he doesn’t have someone to give him a rest. He was BAD this year and SLOW.

I know our line sucked but great running backs do well no matter what. I’m afraid forte is a bust. A one year wonder. I bought his and Cutler’s jerseys so I jinxed em. I’m sorry to Bear Nation. I will buy no more jerseys.
by Ryan21 on Jan 31, 2010 7:11 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
he was not that bad
and had he gotten the ball more he tops 1000 easy. Hard to fault him when he got the ball, in some games, less than 10 times. The Bears gave up on the run when they traded for Cutler, had nothing to do with Forte. Forte is fine. And if we were to go after a RB there is a FA from MInnesota that I make a bid for

Do you think this will allow us to watch Thursday night games,
Stream them on Hulu that way? I mean, in case we can’t watch the game on TV (especially if we don’t get NFL Network)?

Cant play zone or blitz in the pro bowl I believe....
if you do its a flag….there are even certain things the offense can not do in the pro bowl (think zone blocking is one)….
