Week 5: Bears at Panthers Pre-Game Open Thread
Chicago Bears quarterbacks: Don't be surprised if Chicago Bears turn to Caleb Hanie - You wanted it, you might get it. But only when if Collins struggles.
Carolina, on his mind - If I were Jimmy "The Pickle" Clausen, I wouldn't really want to play today.
Todd Collins at QB recalls disastrous Bears trio of '04 - In case you were starting to find your positivity for this game, Rick Morrissey brings you a fantastical blast from the past.
Look for Bears to turn to running game - Is it a problem to give Chester one or four more series?
Nuts and Bolts: Bears vs. Panthers - These are the fasteners of the game, as per ESPNChicago.
Don't worry guys--Collins will be alright:

Uh-oh
Here’s the most disturbing thing about the Todd Collins Tribute. The tribute is only 50 seconds long. I mean honestly, we’re going to try to win with someone who has a 15 year career and amassed a 50 second highlight clip? And two seconds of it are him holding a fish. yikes…

is a short highlight better than
a long highlight video of Josh Bullocks?

There was a five minute video.
But I figured everyone would be pissed if I made them watch 5 minutes of Todd Collins.

We're going to be watching 60 minutes of Todd Collins today
And you’re worried about just 5?
tribute?
random pics of todd collins on football cards constitutes a tribute?
is that all we could find? couldn’t it be a highlight clip of him with the skins after campbell went down? that line better learn about that new football fad…blocking, was it?
I found others.
This is the one that was the most amusing, especially when coupled with the song.

If Martz can control himself
and run the ball, I think good things will happen. Sooner or later defenses are just going to stay in nickel and say “Dare you to run” because they think we can’t. If we can go out and run a little bit, defenses will have to be honest.
Hopefully the short passing game (screens, quick outs, slants) is open today because I see that being Collins’ strong suit. I still see Peppers having a monster game against his former team. Bears win. Bear down!
"I feel like the pieces are in place. But we have to execute...It's about execution. You have to execute. You have to have a scheme that facilitates the strengths of your players. If it doesn't, then it's a bad scheme. It's that simple. So we feel real good about the parts in place on offense."
"We feel very good about this football team. We felt very good about our football teams in the past and it's no different. You've got to go out there and you've got to do it."

Martz can hush the naysayer's this week
Martz had the wrong gameplan, last week. The silver-lining, of that very grey performance is that Martz knows he screwed up.
I think Martz will go back to calling against the defense, as oppose to calling (or forcing) whatever he wants to do. And in doing that, this offense will get back on track.
I’m not expecting big offensive numbers, but I am expecting some mistake free football.
And a Bears win!
I think everyone's missing the answer right before our eyes.
We don’t need Todd Collins or Caleb Hanie, or even Jay Cutler.
Our QB of the future, is that fish. I heard he had an awesome pro day. He’s a little short, but he’s slippery and elusive. Think Michael Vick without the slime.
Looks like Edwin Williams and Webb to start
Indications are that rookie seventh-round pick J’Marcus Webb will start at right tackle Sunday and newcomer Edwin Williams will be the starting right guard as the Bears continue to mix things up on the offensive line.
Also Dez Clark inactive and Wooten Active:
For Week Five, they’ve activated rookie defensive end Corey Wootton for the first time all year. Defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, once viewed as a building block on the interior, is inactive.
Chicago’s other inactives:
Tight end Desmond Clark
Third quarterback Jay Cutler
Safety Major Wright
Cornerback Joshua Moore
Running back Kahlil Bell
Offensive tackle Chris Williams
Defensive end Charles Grant

Let's hope we have no

This either goes the Charlie Batch route
or the Johnathan Quinn route. God help us.
Yeah but it worked!
is someone going to have a link to watch the game? I want to know if I get to watch this or not..lol
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
sorry I didn't see you had posted that before me

Let's hope for a QB controversy by the end of the day....
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
I remain a pessimistically hopeful Bears fan.
link to the game anyone.....
