Really set her off after the constant whining for Hanie and about Lovie.
There was the “eat a dick” and something about “complaining anonymously like you pussies”

Do you really think he was serious?
It’s a blog. People use hyperbole all the time.
Deng/Boozer/Noah: All your rebound are belong to us.
Hyperbole
is my greatest friend. Ever.
But that was the first time I’ve ever been even partially serious about something like that.
Hence the not being proud part.
Moral condescending aside, you’re right. There are few things worse than that fratboy style attitude towards football (and sports in general).
"I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason the Bulls are back."- Derrick Rose.
"I'm never leaving Chicago."- Derrick Rose
Frat boy style attitude?
I’m not sure what that even means!
However, hyperbole doesn’t make wishing injury on someone right. And WCG is more than a “blog”. We offer much more than any Bears “blog” out there in both format and content. It’s much more of a douchebag-free community, unlike what you get with “blogs”.
Not saying we can’t disagree with people, but wishing injury on someone is ridiculous and childish and morally wrong, hyperbole or not. Grow up, or find another place on the internet to spread that garbage.

I should clarify
the “frat boy” attitude I’m talking about is this attitude too many people have where it’s not about your team winning as much as it is about the other team losing.
You see this all the time on facebook and the like. I live in Indiana, and when the Colts lost in the Super Bowl all you saw was shit like “ha ha stupid gayfag Colts fans lost suck on that you fags.”
That’s what I mean.
"I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason the Bulls are back."- Derrick Rose.
"I'm never leaving Chicago."- Derrick Rose
I think this is a little silly all the way around.
While I don’t condone seriously wishing ill on players or coaches, It also isn’t something new to this week. Disagree? peruse the last four weeks threads. In fact, some of them have made it into the comment of the week sections. And some of the comments left over the past weeks were left by some of those complaining now.
If we’re going to devolve into a PC community, I’m not even sure the wishing harm upon a player is even the worst of it. I no longer allow my children on the threads due to the language, sexual content and innuendo and general lack of class by some posters. Now I’m not complaining. There are plenty of other sites for them to visit. But what i am saying is that hypocrisy comes in all shapes and sizes.

I do disagree, completely.
Or at least from what I’ve seen, granted I don’t read every comment that gets posted here.
And nobody’s devolving anything. This site is what you and Denny Green know that it is. But (and I disagree with you again) wishing injury, or death, on someone is much worse than using a “bad” word or making a sexual innuendo.

I disagree....
Causing harm to other people is definitely worse than swearing or sexual innuendo. But wishing? Still just words, my friend. Funny how you can show murder on television, but F#@% is something you cannot say or do. Agree or disagree, them’s the breaks. In fact, I’ll bet that if we took a poll of users here (or anywhere else) and gave the users the option of letting their children watch Looney Tunes or South Park, I’m thinking Looney Tunes wins out.
And if you have somehow missed the many posts calling for harm on, wishing harm on and speculating about the joy of harming Lovie Smith, for example, than I am truly amazed (good examples of this can be found on the best of comments thread for the Lions game). Or members lamenting after the Peppers sack against Detroit that knocked Stafford out that if Stafford was hurt, it was a bonus.

As are the words people speak here.
Again, they are just words. But this doesn’t work…….
Saying a word that society deems offensive, or talking in sexual context, is more offensive than harm to an actual person? FTW.
I never said this. I said that cursing and sexual speech are deemed worse than violent speech. What you said is totally different, and I would never, repeat never, say that violent actions are acceptable. But we aren’t talking about actions, unless you mean the action of pressing down on keys, cause that’s the only act we are talking about here. You know better than to try that.
Never said Curse words weren’t just words. But they do seem to be more taboo than violent words. Case in point, I can say “I hope someone hits Lovie in his face” on every thread on this site without fear of repercussions. But if I were to type F@¢% on every thread, other than game threads, well that is frowned upon.
Looney Tunes reference was one I knew was going to get questioned when I re-read my post. Sorry, I failed to explain myself. Well, I did, but I erased half of the post by accident, and missed re-writing that part. Whoops. My point was that Violent cartoons, suck as the Looney Tunes are socially acceptable, while an “offensive” cartoon like SP cannot get regular network airplay.
Look, my friend. You and I see eye to eye, from a personal standpoint. You don’t see me posting the wish for injury. And you won’t. But I also won’t overblow the significance of somebody venting on a website, nor will I relate their words to the actual actions, as you did above. There is a huge difference between words and actions.
in•san•i•ty \in-ˈsa-nə-tē\ noun
1 : The practice of repeating the same action while expecting different results.
by Timothy Hockemeyer on Oct 12, 2010 8:49 AM CDT up reply actions
Again, I completely disagree.
South Park is a cartoon that is geared to adults, whereas Looney Toones is geared towards children. South Park also falls closer to the uncanny valley, where people are more directly going to associate it with real life. However, South Park is more than just sexual overtones and cursing… there’s a shit ton of violence in there as well. So should I be arguing that? No, because comparing South Park to Looney Tunes is like comparing apples to oranges.
I said that cursing and sexual speech are deemed worse than violent speech.
Again, I disagree. I’d much rather hear a curse word or sexual innuendo than hearing someone talk about harming someone, whether hyperbole or not. We lived in a messed up society when wishing injury on someone deemed okay because we “pressed down keys”. The fact that you’re arguing “because I typed it and would never do it, it’s alright” is just silly.
Case in point, I can say "I hope someone hits Lovie in his face" on every thread on this site without fear of repercussions. But if I were to type F@¢% on every thread, other than game threads, well that is frowned upon.
Wrong again. If you were to post any of that in every thread, you wouldn’t last here long. For one, it’s trolling. And on top of that, depending on the comment, we do warn people for posting about wishing injury on others.
And for the record, curse words ARE allowed in game threads and only governed in the rest of the threads (by WCG) in the most severe cases.
All that being what it is, WCG is a self-governed community for the most part, where members police each other. And usually crap like this is nipped in the bud by the readers. Hence, why this topic (people wishing injury on Todd Collins) was even brought up and the sexual innuendo comments weren’t. That seems to refute your “one is more taboo than the other” statement.
I’ll leave you with these:
Ex1: Shit that was a bad throw
Ex2: Favre’s throwing pic(k)s around like Sterger’s on the other team.
Ex3: I wish Todd Collins would break his neck, so Caleb Hanie would come in.
Do you really find examples one and two more offensive and socially acceptable than number three? #methinksnot

the only reason they can run
