Trade value of Olsen and Harris?

The premise behind this fanpost is the following question?

Can we trade a good player on our team for a high draft pick and be able to sign an equally good player in free agency as a direct replacement?

Greg Olsen

I don't think any judge regards Olsen as a rounded TE because despite his strong receiving skills, he is a poor blocker and depending what offensive scheme we use next year, blocking skills might take on greater importance.

The TE class in free agency his year is deep with Vernon Davis (SF), Zach Miller (OAK), Kevin Boss(NYG), Antonio Gates (SD), Owen Daniels (HOU), Marcedes Lewis (JAC), Anthony Fasano (MIA), and Bo Scaife (TEN) all currently due to enter free agency.

In contrast the draft class will be desperately poor if Rudolph, currently out for the season, doesn't declare with no-one considered higher than a 3rd round selection.

I expect most teams to put some sort of compensation tag on their TEs but an exception might be Daniels principally because the Texans have depth here and need to spend money elsewhere.

Tommie Harris

Having seemingly fallen out of favour, is there merit in cutting our links with Tommie for the highest compensation we can get? Only 27, but seemingly declining with the Bears, a change of scenery might be all that is required. A team in desperate need of DT help are the Colts who are currently having to start the undrafted Daniel Muir and seem to have as much trouble stopping the run, as we do stopping the pass rush.

Its not a question of the draft value we think he's worth playing for the Bears, but what a GM pay for a 27year old Pro Bowler especially if they think they can turn someones career around.

Trading Harris for the Colts R3 selection gives the team additional ammunition to move up in the draft, to grab those all important OL prospects or maybe one of the big four WR prospects if they slide.

And how to replace Tommie? Brandon Mebane (SEA), Gabe Watson (ARZ), Alan Branch (ARZ) Barry Cofield (NYG) and Travis Johnson (SD) are all currently down as free agents

Cofield would be of particular interest, the SuperBowl winner being an illumini of Northwestern, especially with the Giants needing to resign Boss, and with the very expensive Rocky Bernard, and the 2nd rounder Linval Joseph already on their roster

Question

Would you as GM trade Olsen and Harris for a 2nd rounder and a low 3rd rounder respectively if you'd been able to sign a capable TE and DT as their immediate replacements in free agency?

I would because with a 1st rounder, two 2nd rounders, and two 3rd rounders, a half decent GM would make our OL problems a thing of the past
