Bears release DE Mark Anderson
Well at least other consistent, starting caliber defensive ends weren't released so that The Amazing Disappearing Anderson could be given a starting job. Oh..wait.
Also: From ESPN Chicago
"There's a chance, however, that Grant could miss some time, according to an NFL spokesman, because the league is looking into possibly disciplining him under its personal conduct policy."
This personal conduct being a 2008 bar shooting. Also still judgement pending on the whole StarCaps business.
So releasing a player to make room for someone who may miss time? Yikes.

Tell me they couldnt get something for him?!
I mean he is a starting DE. Not a great one but, a starter egardless…
One teams starter is another teams......
towel boy. This is common practice under Jerry Angelo.

Bears didn't keep Anderson in favor of Brown......
They kept Tommie Harris in favor of Brown. It was a money decision.

Regardless-
They just released a starting DE.
You must have me confused with someone else, I have never been to Chicago.

1st, there is regard.
That regard is accuracy. You implied that the Bears let Brown go for Anderson, and that simply isn’t the case. They chose Tommie Harris over him. Pointing that out was informational, not attacking, and since the entire accompanying commentary for the title was about Brown being released for Anderson, it was relevant.
2nd, I’m trying to figure out what the problem is. People have been complaining about Anderson for 3 years. Now the Bears release him and pick up a player that helped take the Saints to the Super Bowl. Where is the problem. Will Grant be better than Anderson? No Clue. He’s recovering from injury and might not end up being the same player.. But the Bears released a player that wasn’t performing to expectation for a player who has a history of consistent performance at a starting level for a Super Bowl team.
He might face some disciplinary action. I understand that. But Anderson was a split time starter with Idonije, and Izzy was the better of the two. Now Wooten, who many have been calling for here, may be able to get some game experience. Bottom line, Anderson wasn’t doing enough to be considered a contributor, and he’s run out of time to develop. I think this was a wise choice, and I can’t see how it would be any more of a gamble than leaving an underperforming “starter” in the position.

What if I was implying
they shouldn’t have let Ogunleye go?
But still, it is regardless. Because he is a starting player, and they let Brown and Ogunleye go because they’re no longer Bears. And Anderson took their spot. He got consistently endorsed by the staff.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was two states away at a funeral..........
As to the reply……They still did not release Brown or Ogunleye in favor of Anderson. That is factually inaccurate. Whether the staff then endorsed Anderson is irrelevent (and what coach in the right mind wouldn’t endorse a player that they intend on sharing starting duties. If you want to know what they really thought, you look at their actions, which were to create a starting committee and try to take Izzy’s pash rush and mix it with Anderson’s strength against the rush. Were they really confident in Anderson as a lone starter, they wouldn’t be running a “DE by committee option”, would they?) as is the fact that Anderson took Brown’s (not Ogunleye’s, that was taken by Peppers) spot. Additionally, they didn’t cut, release or let Ogunleye go. They just didn’t offer him a new contract when he hit FA.
Funny enough, Anderson was released by the Bears, and promptly picked up by the Houston Texans, the same team that signed Ogunleye. Anderson now sits 2nd on the depth chart behind Antoine Smith at LDE while Ogunleye sits third on the depth chart behind Mario Williams and Jesse Nading at LDE. Link that pops. So these “starters” are sitting second and third on someone else’s depth chart.. Additionally, Anderson is sitting higher on that depth chart than Ogunleye. Apparently the Bears weren’t the only team that thought Anderson was better than Ogunleye.

JA's take on the release of AA and signing of Grant
LM: Why did the Bears decide to sign Charles Grant and release Mark Anderson?
JA: "As I’ve said before, we’re always going to do our due diligence and look at what players are out there. We did a lot of work on Charles in terms of game tape in the preseason and in the past, even as recently as his game from the UFL last Saturday. We feel that he’s a better fit than Mark was in terms of the left end position. He also has the ability to play down inside as a three-technique. We like his versatility, his experience speaks for itself, and he was an upgrade."
