is my favorite Bears writer, fair and honest, without being overly negative.

I agree

I’ve been in some of his live chat sessions too, and his answers are always well thought out, and he tries to get to everyone.

Hey Dane, this is a little off of the subject but...

I know we are not supposed to ask about prizes but are you going to post the winner(s) of the Pick "Em from last week? I only had two misses (*&%# upsets) so I figure I at least have a shot.
Thanks.

Yes.

I will get to that today or tomorrow.

Or the day after that....

I Like that Martz is taking the blame

shows that his ego isn’t quite as big as some seem to build it to be, however, it’s not much different than Lovie saying “We didn’t prepare well” against Atlanta last year. That isn’t really an excuse, it’s your job! Get it done Martz!

"I feel like the pieces are in place. But we have to execute...It's about execution. You have to execute. You have to have a scheme that facilitates the strengths of your players. If it doesn't, then it's a bad scheme. It's that simple. So we feel real good about the parts in place on offense."

"We feel very good about this football team. We felt very good about our football teams in the past and it's no different. You've got to go out there and you've got to do it."
-Jerry Angelo, Aug. 2, 2010

The difference

is that with Lovie, you know there was no prep involved anyway, win or lose.

Martz probably was hoping to really cut loose and hang it up on the G-men. Instead, his over-the-top game plan came crashing down with the protection.

I’d imagine he’ll scale it back this week, even against the Panthers. It’s also worth noting that Cutler has not been officially cleared by an independent neurologist. They might want to get on that.

Well, it makes sense

to give him as long as possible to recover before doing that.

If I did what I love for a living, what would I do in my free time?

Oh I agree

but I was under the impression that they had to clear him before he could even practice. I don’t want him held out over a technicality, or to have the Bears fined for being stupid. Although there are plenty of opportunities for that.

Webb to start at RT

That’s big news. Shaffer is best as the swing tackle, and Webb has the physical ability to be a good RT.

It's unbelievable that he almost went undrafted

Now, Mullins is saying he plays with great balance, control, and power. How in the heck didn’t any team take a chance on him before the 7th round is beyond me?!

a small school kid

And he was at 3 different schools… But he did play as a true freshman at Texas. That has to be a good thing.

A closer look at Charles Grant...

and how he was unable to crack the starting lineup in the UFL, and was ultimately released by them. I’m sure he’ll be a fine addition to the underachievers along side Pepp. I’d rather have Anderson back.

We'll see.

I think the hope is that he can avoid being pushed around just by being 300 pounds. I don’t expect him to do much, but Anderson wasn’t either. Seems like a waste of money after the tender we put on Anderson, though.

Decent chance that Grant will play like a man possessed though, for one more shot at staying in the NFL. A little desperation can go a long way.

Anderson led the Bears in QB pressures

That’s not exactly doing nothing, but I guess we’ll see what the castoff can do at 32.

Pressure

is hard to gauge. It constantly seems like we get shredded on every dropback, regardless of pressure.

You could be entirely correct though. We’ll see.

The Angelo article confirms he's clueless.

Has he ever played a single down of football??

“The solution is to get our 5 guys to play as a unit” Huh?

I pick, Dane, Honeybear, Lester, and Propheteer – the 5 of us can “play together” and be a solid starting OL in the NFL. Frikken ridiculous.

Anybody got Tonya Harding’s number?

If you don't ask, you don't get. So get on with it already.

Let's do it...

Just give me a few days to gain 150 lbs.

by Dane Noble on Oct 7, 2010 2:40 PM CDT up reply actions

150?

I think I’m gonna need to gain more than that…

…maybe I can just give my opponent the puppy dog eyes and a little wink and he won’t block me. HAHA

Or just b$%ch slap him. A man can't feel like much of a man after being b$%ch slapped by a woman on live TV.

He’d never live down the humiliation and would be laughed right off the field. Then you move over to the other side and do the same thing getting you ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct but in the mean time you’ve emasculated taken out two of their starting defensive lineman. Hell we could probably employ this strategy for at least 2 or 3 games before the NFL ejects you completely. It’s so simple it has to work…..

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
