Why the NFL should be investigating Favre's alleged misconduct
I was kinda "meh" on the whole thing (because seriously a male athlete being a jerk is definitely not news to me) but this article is a really well stated reason for WHY this case matters.
Worth the read.

Definitely true.
Not the point. But definitely true.
When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.
Corollary: When people are visiting your house and behaving themselves, them being a fan of a different team is NOT a reason for you to piss in their beer.

My main issue with this whole story is the timing.
When this issue originally broke, it wasn’t after it happened. It wasn’t in the off-season, summer, or weeks one through four, it was the week Favre’s team played against the Jets.
That reeks to me.
Should he have sent those pictures? Probably not, but it also depends. Did the recipients ask for the pictures? Did they encourage the behavior? Did they report it immediately to their superiors saying “WTF?!”
Based on the way this is going, I’d presume the answers to one and three are “no” If the answer to one is “yes”, it reeks even more strongly of entrapment. If the answers to two and three are “no” and “yes” respectively. Pursue the case strongly, and make sure to clean house in the Jets HR team as well. If the answers to two and three are both “no”, it’s one of those “go upside the dumbass’ head” situations. Finally, if the answer to two is “yes” or “I didn’t discourage it”, I’m glad to know that I’ve got a better come-on technique then Brett.

And I'm fine with an investigation
I just feel it doesn’t pass the smell test.
