Veterans Day- Honoring True American Heroes.
via andrewprokos.com
With Veterans Day tomorrow I decided to put together a post to honor those who have served, are serving and will serve in the future. For anyone who would like a brief history on Veterans Day please visit this link. I know that the WCG community has a considerable amount of past and present warriors and I'd like each of them to "stand up" and be recognized for their sacrifice and dedication. For me it is an honor to serve along side each and every one of you.I don't only want our Armed Service members to be recognized, because a Serviceman is only as good as his or her support system. Support systems are generally thought of as Wives, Husbands, Mothers, Fathers and family members; while all these individulas are just as important as the war fighter themself others are out there support these members and rarely receive the appropriate recognition. Who am I speaking of? Well that would be you WCG community!!! Yes you, the blog warriors who steadfastly show up everyday to banter back and forth with eachother over all kinds of topics not just football. Now many of you may think that being a blog member how does that support the military member. Most of us are no where near where our favorite teams reside, the result of that is a lack of fans in your area. The best way to connect with fellow fans is the internet, I know for those deployed and stationed overseas it's a great moral booster to be able to take your mind off the task at hand and "escape" if only for a short moment. So please allow me to thank all you for your support of me and others over the years, and heres to many more years of fun!
I know that this post isn't really "football" related, but remember that our very own Solider Field is a tribute and the Bears organization I'm sure are very proud of each and every service member, and they themselves by playing there are saluting and supporting the troops everytime they take the field. And those fans in the stands, the best fanbase in all of sports, those Grabowski's are some of the most supportive and dedicated fan base ever, they love their Bears and they love their military.
So what are your plans for the Holiday? Do you have any family members who are serving or have served? Are you Serving or have served? Let's hear your stories!

So allow me to be the first to start off our traditional WCG MILITARY ROLL CALL!!!

If this isn't green by the time I'm back from the restroom.
I’m going to be disappointed in our membership.
If I did what I love for a living, what would I do in my free time?

reporting as ordered sir
as a veteran, i am taking a vacation day on ol’ armistice day tomorrow. in a perfect world, tomorrow would be on the same level as labor day, memorial day, etc. the wifey is a schoolteacher and gets tomorrow off but most of us don’t.
also, happy 235th birthday usmc. glad i don’t have to attend field messes anymore though :)
btw nice post dvw. that is a pretty full lineage of servicemembers.

Thank you sir! Semper Fi!
My family does have quite the lineage and we are a proud group, we just do what we do. My wife’s Gpa was an Air Force Col, flew missions over Nam so the blood lines run deep all around. I always laugh though cause my grandpa is always telling me how much better the Army is than the Air Force and then he follows that up by telling me I was smart by not going in the Army, gotta love it.

that is funny
my old man, who was a marine in vietnam, told me before i left for san diego that i was a dumbass and should join the air force instead. funny because in retrospect, i would have enjoyed the air force a lot more overall. marines had a lot of obvious perks and i wouldn’t trade it now for all the tea in china but my god man, the difference in quality of life between the two is kind of noticeable. air force bases are by far the best military bases i have visited or been stationed at.

Excellent post sir!
Not a vet, but I have all the respect and appreciation for those that have, and are serving.
No big plans for tomorrow, except to call my Dad and all the others that I know have served.
Words do not do enough credit for the appreciation I feel towards our men & women and their families that have sacrificed so much… Thank you all!!!
Illinois misses you, too.

Damn man, I think your family has more accrued military service than our entire Congress.
You ever feel like driving across 4 and down 75, you’ll have a couple cold ones waiting for you. And Clearwater is hardly a bad place to spend your leave.

My Aunt and Uncle live in Bradenton
sooooo you just never know who might show up at your front door. :) I just want to know if you live in Hulk Hogans old house? I know he used to run around Clearwater, figured maybe he hooked you up.

No, but I used to dispatch for Belleair PD when he lived in Belleair.
It’s a small little town, but incredibly wealthy. I spoke with him a couple times. He’s actually a really nice guy. His ex-wife was f’ing psycho though. Also had Rexy’s lost wallet turned in to our department. The guy who was on duty at the time xeroxed his NFL Player card to show me.
Oh, and I’ve got cousins down in Bradenton. It’s about an hour, maybe hour and a half south of me.

Lol that is a great story.
You still doing any thing in Law Enforcement? I’m in the Reserves for a PD up here but I don’t get to meet any famous people, just a bunch of tweaked out a holes.

Yeah, I'm in a civilian spot at the county jail.
I just don’t tend to advertise it on here. I’ve been in one facet or another of law enforcement since I was 19. You planning on retiring out of the Air Force and going into police work?

I plan on retiring from the AF in 9 years, then after that
I might do something in Law Enforcement but I don’t know for sure.
