Thanks for a job so well done...........
So, today I came home from a hard night of steelwork. My back hurts and my arms are rubbery. I walk through the front door, kiss the kids goodbye as they head off to school and head over to the computer.
Ahhhh......WCG. I love this place. It's kinda like being Norm when he walked all those times down the stairs and through the door into Cheers. You feel welcome and you feel like you are among friends. There will be lots of conversation, a little ribbing and a few arguments. It's like a home away from home.
I came home from work this morning (30th consecutive day without a day off....ugh) and sat down and after posting a couple of comments, I got to thinking........I am here a lot. It's my oasis, and I am damned thankful for this community. Places like this are not easy to find.
Doubt me? Just check some of the other SBNation sites out. Or the official Bears forum. When I found this site last September, I had been looking for a new place to talk football for quite some time. This site is loaded with great writers, both in an official capacity and in the form of FanPosts from some excellent people who put a lot of time and effort into writing things about the team they love for it's fan base. The members are first class and among the most respectful, knowledgeable and enjoyable in all of sports blogdom. I would name names, but there are too many fine examples to list in a single post.
I'm not going to make this an overly long post, but I just realized today that this site gives a lot of props out to the Chicago Bears organization, to some of the beat writers and publications out there that are doing a good job of covering Our Bears, and to the players, coaches, and everyone else who does something remotely positive for Our Bears, Bears fans or the NFL, to include it's members. But the one thing I haven't seen is.....
A WCG Staff Appreciation Post......
Well Adam, Dane, HoneyBear, Kev H, Dave, Steve, Jacob, Nique, Lester and that little Cheeky Monkey guy, this is it. This one little post won't do justice to the great work that all of you have done in providing and maintaining a place for all of us knuckleheads to swarm to, but it's a start. Thank you for providing us with the single best fan site on the internet, bar none. And thank you for all of your hard work in keeping us up to date, family friendly and troll free.
You have done Bears fans a great service with this site, and I just thought you deserved a prop or fifty yourselves. And I'm sure there are plenty of other members out there who feel the same.
Once again, Thank you to the entire WCG Staff and Bears Down!
This FanPost was written by a Windy City Gridiron member, and does not necessarily reflect the ideas or opinions of its staff or community.

+1...
Here, here!!
Thanks for putting up with our crap AND putting this site together.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE (IT'S BACK BABY!)!!!
"There's a fine line between stupid, and clever!"
Absolutely,
This is the best place to talk football that I know. It’s funny, sometimes when I’m talking football with people in person now, I’m thinking about WCG.
Great job everybody.
Nice post Train
and in the spirit of the Love Fest that has started here is my submission to the WCG Staff.

T-Trian is very wise...
Thanks!
I have to say it’s the community that makes a site, and WCG has some great members that love to talk about the Bears.

But all communities need leaders.......
that lead by example, provide direction, right wrongs and quell rebellion. This staff does all four very well.
Very gracious, Lester, but take your bow. You deserve it.

Thanks for the kind words.
I will also defer to Lester’s comment about the community though. We could sit here and turn out articles all day long, but it’s our members who take the discussions to an elevated place.
Not to sound ungrateful, because it is nice to hear from the members, whether the feedback is good or bad. Thanks for the post. As long as you all keep showing up, then we will too.
I'll take the glory!
even if Dane and Lester are right, it’s always been about me anyhow! ;)
Thanks T!

I agree 100%
WCG is by far my favorite Bears site ever I love the optimism, by both the writers and fans,. And how the writers get out of the ‘norm’ in their posts. Its a funner, better, and more optimistic blog than any other.
A many great thanks to you, Tuh-Trayne
Can you imagine how often I would have to banhammer people if I was at some other sites?
I’m going to go ahead and third the concept that this will become a circle and tell you that most of you are completely fantastic, while others are maybe, at best, sorta fantastic. :)

Have you read my crap? Family friendly? Hah!
But thanks. I can assure you far me, at least, it is a labor of love. I love to write and I love my Bears so this just fits. I kinda feel like we’ve got our own little “family” here so I’ll go with Dane and Les but I think you said it best…

I didn't mean you.....
I just through your name in there so you wouldn’t feel left out ;)
But seriously, let’s be honest. If you keep the kiddies off the game threads, this is easily the most family friendly site around. It’s pretty nice to have that sort of security. My kids used to get on here with regularity, and all I had to tell them was that they had to stay away from the game threads. I think that is awesome.

I must say
That before i discovered WCG, i had no where to talk bears, no where to vent my frustrations, no place to show my unconditional love for future hall of famer Greg Olsen! and no where to worship a certain Coach Ditka.
I joined the day of the Cutler trade because i was so happy that day i just wanted to talk to Bear fans, and that day introduce me to all of you knuckleheads. I love this site, and i follow it on twitter!!!!!

I grew up around Hammond and Gary, so I kind of witnessed the decline first hand, though it had started before I was born. I knew a grand total of one single person from my high school who managed to land a job at one of the mills.

I hate the rain. Rain falls in this world, too. When your heart is in chaos, the sky becomes clouded. When you are sad, rain falls so terribly easily. Can you understand, the horror of being pelted by rain in this solitary world? If only to stop that rain, I shall lend you any strength. If you trust in me, I will let no rain fall in this world, trust me. You are not fighting alone.
