Great Story About A Former Bear

THE Gregory Thomas Waddle. Voice from ESPN 100 Waddle and Silvy. I was listening to their show on Monday morning on my drive back to school from Chicago to Iowa City (I was at the game on Sunday). There was an interesting email that was sent into the show...

A man by the name of Chris Harper emailed the show, explaining his plans for the Bears game tonight. He said that he was going down to South Beach with 9 of his buddies and going to the game. For the last few weeks, he had been bragging about how he was going to be wearing his fresh Tom Waddle jersey to the game. Except late last week, that plan kind of fell through.

The jersey he was planning to wear was an authentic jersey, just personalized and bought on NFL.com. The problem was that NFL.com said they would not be able to get the jersey to him until Friday, the day after the game. After bragging to his friends, he said there was no way he was going to the game without the jersey. He called the NFL Shop and offered to pay TRIPLE the price if thats what it took to get the jersey early. They said no.

He then emailed the show explaining the situation, and asking Waddle if there was any advice he had or anything he could do. Waddle was first confronted with this situation on the air. It didn't take him much time to think about it, and he said that he only has one of his jerseys left from his playing days. It is a game worn jersey, and a throwback. Not one of the ones like last week, the REALLY old ones, the ones with the stripes. I think the last time they wore those was the re-opening of Soldier Field on MNF against the Packers.

Anyways, Waddle offered to lend his jersey to the fan, as long as it came back clean. I thought it was the coolest thing. Tom Waddle is the man.
