Our coaches seemed to have used our actual bye week to good effect… let’s hope this sort-of bye week is also productive. Ditto for players resting and healing up.

Maybe he propositioned Seymour and, after the reports of how difficult it is to turn Big Ben down, that was Seymour’s emphatic way of saying “No!”

Yeah, maybe.
Whatever it was, it evoked an INSTANT response from Seymour. If he’d thought about it for any more than a nanosecond, he wouldn’t have done it.

Hope no one had vince young on their FFT
As Young was leaving LP Field, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports Young threw his shoulder pads into the stands as he left the field. Minutes later, he left the locker room in street clothes.
"Safety Michael Griffin, wearing only a pair of shorts, ran out of the locker room and chased Young up a ramp to the players’ parking lot, but was unable to catch him," Wyatt writes.

Didn't Fisher like Cutler in the draft?
I heard he was never that much of a VY guy to begin with, and the owner pretty much overruled him. Not sure if he liked Leinart. Honestly, those coaches had VY playing better than VY has any business playing.
From what I read, he was pro-Young all the way
Shanahan had called him to ask about Cutler (as Vandy is in Nashville), and Fisher gave him his highest recommendation, saying that he had already settled on Young and that Cutler would be great in Denver.

Even though he just threw that pick
That’s what the greats do. That’s what winners do. He could have played it safe and tried for the field goal but he went for it. That’s what you want in a QB.
Yeah but it worked!
Yeah, if Caldwell had called for the FG, he'd have faced an angry mob
Just a bad throw after an amazing comeback drive.
Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation.
You want a QB to lose the game?
It was an ill-advised pass that cost them the tie or possibly the win.
"He's a great candidate," Ryan said. "If I hadn't made him drop in coverage so often on running backs, he might be the all-time sack leader. They call it zone blitzing nowadays. We called it, 'Richard, pick him up.'" - Buddy Ryan on Richard Dent's HOF chances.
I admit it's rare to see peyton throw a panic pick
but he did. He was trying to avoid a sack and he threw a pick. The referees ignoring the huge hold on intended receiver Garcon was not helpful.
Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation.
It wasn't an ill-advised throw
It was just a badly thrown one. II was talking about his mentality to try to win the game instead of running the ball 3 times and trying to kick a field goal. Even great QBs are going to make bad throws.
Yeah but it worked!
or throws that are good
but the defense just makes a better play.
Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...
by awfullyquiet on Nov 21, 2010 6:39 PM CST up reply actions
I agree with the mentality part
Jay has it, but needs to reel it back a little in order for him to realize his talent.
Manning kind of rushed the throw when all he needed to do was step up in the pocket. I guess we can’t really complain too much about his decision-making though, but if not for a complete collapse by the Bears offense in SB 40 he’d have zero titles.
What, a QB that throws 3 picks and loses you the game ...
…. or Brady throwing 2 TDs and winning it for you?
Or Manning marching his
team back of repeat drives with less than 5mins to play while Brady had an INT dropped on his second to last drive when he could have put the game away ans never gave Manning another shot. That’s the funny thing about Luck, It can be good and bad. There’s no shame in Manning failing to get it done today. Without him, they would’ve lost by 2 Tds.
Yeah but it worked!
I haven't really paid attention to the Eagles in action this year
So I plan to watch them closely tonight to see how they operate. Their game with the Packers is yet to come, too.
Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation.
quick story: like an andy reid team with mike vick at the helm.
it’s curious to watch, and frankly a little scary. they’re fast on offense, and their defense has the capability to really hurt. right now, i don’t think anyone is playing better than them. their corners suck with an extreme amount of prejudice, their secondary is medicore at best.
How our o-line handles Trent Cole, and beats the contain will dictate how well we do on offense.
Defense? Pray that we can catch everyone, that the safeties play smart, keep the big play out of the hands of desean jackson and maclin… always keeping an eye on vick… I like the fact that the bears are fast enough to probably reduce the damage done by vick on his feet…
Also, don’t really pay attention to the Giant’s offense… with so many linemen out and/or hurting, this may be like watching the miami game.
Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...

Urlacher
is the only player I’ve ever seen able catch Vick in a dead sprint. Next week should be interesting because the Eagles don’t want to run the ball. Lovie’s defense will make you pay for that stuff. I can’t wait.
Yeah but it worked!
Bears have the team speed to contain Vick and the Eagles
I think it will be a great matchup, especially since our D is playing well.

That may be the case...
But… Peanut vs ??? (eagles wideout behind door #2) = bad matchup.
Their speed = Safeties have to play flawless cover 2/3. I like the matchup, but at the same time, there are parts that you’d want to worry about, most specifically covering Desean Jackson. He seems stupid fast sometimes. It’s really though, how can we prevent the deep game (which is weird, considering it’s an Andy Reid coached team we’re talking about).
Peppers and Idonije have to have brilliant nights too not only containing the pocket, but pressuring Vick… Really though, every single position needs to play tough to play a team like this. I think this is probably the toughest team the Bears will face all year, just from a ’who’s hot right now’ sort of perspective. Yeah, we match up well insofar as speed, but, containing Vick is all about disrupting the pocket, keeping it between the hashmarks. Lots of cover 2 and disrupting Maclin and Jackson’s timing.
Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...
by awfullyquiet on Nov 21, 2010 11:00 PM CST up reply actions
Eagles look scary
Especially the O-line. Giants have a good pass rush (we saw that in an ugly way) and they haven’t touched Vick so far. Hope our front four is up to the challenge.
Of course, a nice arctic blast rolling into Chicago on Sunday would be good, too…
Containing Vick will be one thing ...
.. but we can certainly do what the redskins couldn’t, which is to reduce the time he could stand there in the pocket and pick them apart.
Definitely
The irony is that it’s not the big “illegal” hits where these guys get hurt, it’s the “legal” awkward hits that cause the most damage. You can’t legislate violence out the game. It’s part of it.
Yeah but it worked!
2 thumbs up is encouraging.
Prayers are dispatched

The real irony is that it’s the presence of protective equipment which permits these kinds of hits. You don’t do head-to-head hits in rugby.

Too bad the loss had to come at the expense of the Pack, but still excellent stuff. The Eagles look beatable. The Giants just shot themselves in key situations. If we can contain Vick, we should be good. Atlanta should be able to handle Green Bay too.

Containing Vick will prevent those big plays from developing down the field. Peanut just needs to not get burned deep; he has issues with peaking into the backfield far too often.

the giants secondary isnt better than ours
their pass rush is but its also different from ours
the giants rush is dependant on big physical lineman more so finesse guys

the best thing for chicago to do is contain the wr’s in the secondary and force vick to beat briggs and urlacher running the ball
