love Thanksgiving football
just glad the Bears aren’t playing, I don’t like when they play because I can’t pay as close of attention.
Definitive proof that Pro-Bowl voting is nothing but name recognition
Peppers has received 151,232 votes, giving him an edge over … and the Vikings’ Jared Allen (116,121).
Then again Vikings fans did get that tool McKinnie voted in.

Allen is having a terrible year for him across the board
I agree, the fans only care about the name these days.

While I understand the desire to get the fans involved.
All-stars should only be voted for by players and coaches.

The NFL has it right
fans, coaches, players each account for a third of the voting.
It’s a meaningless game, why not allow the fans to have some say so?

Because there's paycheck bonuses involved in getting nominated.

The other 2 will weigh over any crazy fan vote, so no worries

I seem to recall reading about some orchestrated campaign by the Redskins to get their players votes, a few years ago.
"44 years of football history and nothing to show for it. I wish I wasn’t banned at the Norseman.." - tfrabotta
"Fellas, what are they, unblockable? Is that the '85 Bears over there?" - Tom Coughlin, Giants '06 training camp

I called him having a terrible year

I saw Allen at the Mall of America a week or so ago.
I was wondering why there was this giant crowd at the mall on a Thursday night. I didn’t recognize him without his hair.
At this time of year I usually get indigestion after Thanksgiving but
Haugh even writing about Lovie getting an extension has given me a jump on the experience.
at least dane was nice enough
to not post the latest crappy telander article as that was even worse. enough with the dogs already.
the afalava line was a good one.

I know
No extension until he makes the playoffs. It would be a nightmare scenario if they gave it to him this season before the team does something.
"He's a great candidate," Ryan said. "If I hadn't made him drop in coverage so often on running backs, he might be the all-time sack leader. They call it zone blitzing nowadays. We called it, 'Richard, pick him up.'" - Buddy Ryan on Richard Dent's HOF chances.
I think Haugh is just trying to stir the pot
I can’t think of a scenario that the management is thinking of giving him an extension this early in the season with so much footballl left to play.

Um not sure if any of you all read the article
But it says an extension for Lovie is a bad idea at this time. He respectfully disagrees with Biggs, who wrote an article last week that now would be the time. Basically, Haugh’s argument is that Lovie still hasn’t shown enough to get to the playoffs and waiting until after next season wouldn’t make him a lame duck because in ’06 the players rallied around him to get him an extension and that could happen again next year.
"I feel like the pieces are in place. But we have to execute...It's about execution. You have to execute. You have to have a scheme that facilitates the strengths of your players. If it doesn't, then it's a bad scheme. It's that simple. So we feel real good about the parts in place on offense."
"We feel very good about this football team. We felt very good about our football teams in the past and it's no different. You've got to go out there and you've got to do it."

Man I didn't realize Urlacher had those type of numbers
This is a lock Pro-Bowl year for him.

I remember just this offseason how people were claiming he was done.
Adrian Pedestrian!! Now that's funny Mr. Bayless...
Hardly
Most of the worry was whether he would remain healthy or go down again.

There was a fair bit of "he's done" going on...
I thought he was done being the most dominant MLB in the NFL after the last couple seasons, and thought that Williams/Roach should be groomed ASAP as the future MLB while Urlacher gets slotted into the OLB spot occupied by Pisa currently. I was wrong.
Good thing to be wrong about.
I was predicting 7 wins at the most, looks like I’ll hopefully be wrong about that.
WILDCARD BITCHES!!! YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!
lovie extension
Definitely the wrong time. Wait and see how ‘11 plays out (if there’s a season) and if the team is good enough by then, he’ll get a modest extension.
He needs to put two good seasons back to back before considering extending his deal
otherwise it’s another 5 years of .500 football. That’s not good enough.
I like this
That can cause some problems, too, when you put your quarterback at risk a little bit of taking so many hits
