Poll: Are you buying the Bears?

Alright, Bears. You've got me. I was wrong heading into the season. I'm now going to offically believe you're good.

The defense? Pretty good. Wish they'd been able to keep the game from getting that close, but that last TD from Vick was stunningly beautiful. Of course, if someone on our side had gotten their paws on the ball we'd call it a bad decision!

The offense? Jay was awesome (although he does need to watch his mouth, that penalty was bad and the fine could be bad too). Bubble screens, YAC, 8 yards/carry. Nice plan from Martz and even better execution from the players. I'm impressed and happy to be wrong. At least this week.

Star-divide

And a special mention of Toub: he gets his guys to do a damned fine job. Great job in the kicking game, good coaching of the "hands team" for the on-side kick.

I'm all aboard. Don't break my heart (again), Chicago.

Not gonna lie, him getting fired up got me at my house fired up, stomping the ground, clapping my hands and yelling. I’m 110% okay with what he did. He stuck his neck out there for his receiver and acted like a true leader IMO. The 15 yard penalty is unfortunate, but I actually loved what he did.

As far as the team and poll go I voted heck yeah! Since the bye week the offense has been efficient and Cutler and co. have looked quite good. The D and Special Teams have been great all year. Hopefully we can carry the momentum into next week and add to this four game winning streak. More than happy to look back at my 7-9 prediction and admit I was wrong.

Being fiery is fine

I like that he shows emotion. You can tell something went well or went wrong, which is fine.

Its the mouth. Pump your fist, ask why something was called. Drawing a flag from the ref takes a lot. They aren’t NBA officals, they’ll take a LOT. Find a medium and we’ll be cool.

Eh.

I can see your point. Remembering correctly he did get fiery, slung his chin strap off and raised his arms up in disgust. Then he set to walk back towards the sidelines but turned back to the official and ran his mouth. Maybe it was a bit much. Still love the intensity though.

he made today? I’ll take it, even with the 15 yarder. :-P

When Cutler got flagged...

the announcers said something like, “He’s really gotta grow up here, you can’t be doing that if you want to be a great QB.” Had Vick, Favre, Brady, or many other media darling QB’s done what Jay did, they would have commended them for having the fire and passion to fight.

And what’s left out of the whole thing, is that the officials really blew that call.

Yeah

Uh. No.

Manning walks after refs all the time, but if he ever did something to draw a flag? He’d get a lot of questions about it.

Its less the action here and more the result. Its not the yelling at the ref its the 15 yards lost when you weren’t going to change anything.

I've heard it happen.

A player getting called for a stupid penalty, and because of who they are, they get praised for it. Of course it’s not going to change the ref’s mind, but I’ve heard it said that “a move like that could fire a team up”, or “really shows how much he cares”.

does that crap all of the time and every calls him a leader because of it. The Bears just need to keep on winning and shut everyone’s mouth.

by Mandingo54 on Dec 1, 2010 12:11 PM CST up reply actions

I voted not yet because...

historically, games like next week’s contest against the Lions is where the Bears mess up. Teams they should beat after a big win and we have a tendancy to let down. If we look good next week, not just win on a technicality like last time, then I’ll start believing.

by BearFan611 on Nov 28, 2010 10:39 PM CST reply actions

These aren't last year's lions.

I don’t think this is a game that we should expect to be an easy win. Its definitely something that should be projected as an easier game, but the Lions won’t easily forget they should have won that last game. They’re going to be fired up.

by MidwayMonster55 on Nov 29, 2010 12:22 AM CST up reply actions

I agree, I didn't mean it should be a "laugher" but they are a team that we should beat.

If the Bears play their best and the Lions play their best, we should come out on top rather easily. I don’t mean a 50-0 type of game, but a 10-14 point win would make me think we’re on the right path.

If you’re truly a playoff caliber team, then you should maintain a playoff caliber performance throughout December, in my opinion, no matter who the opponent is.

Yeah, that last TD was bad...

though the defensive played a great Cover 2 in the sense that when Vick did throw that last TD…a boat load of time had already been eaten up and the Eagles had a narrow shot anyways getting the on-side kick, especially with our ST unit doing its business.

by MetalGearPeaceWalker on Nov 28, 2010 11:54 PM CST reply actions

Yes, mostly because of the defense

But the offense showed it’s potential on Sunday, now we just need consistency from them to make a deep playoff run.

I dislike Angelo much more than Smith...

but I’m really digging Marinelli as DC, and Tice is doing well now that he’s established his line.

But really, look at Martz…who’d have EVER thought that he could play a balanced, reasonable game? You know he’s always going to be ready to take that downfield shot, but he’s not trying every single down anymore.

I actually think I like every single coach we have.

As I’ve said all along, we’re never as good, or as bad, as people tend to believe we are. I didn’t get too low when we lost 3 out of 4 in October, and I’m not gonna get too high now that we’re on a 3 game winning streak.

I'm currently walking next to the bandwagon...

The reason?

Four first half sacks.

How many first half sacks have the Bears given up this season? It’s an insane amount, even if you take out the shelacking they took from the Giants.

They need to fix that. Then I’m 100% on.

by Doshi on Nov 29, 2010 10:30 AM CST reply actions

I can understand that

But sacks rarely lead to losing games, but it sure leads down that road. Our offensive line is one of our biggest problems at this time, but they have been improving.

I've been cautiously optimistic all year

Kind of agree with David Taylor, up and down.

We are definitely on the right track. We seem to play better each week, at least the last 4. I think as the Offense increase in their comfort with the program and the front 4 gain confidence come Jan. 1, this squad may well be the ones to beat.

If you don't ask, you don't get. So get on with it already.

The offense is finally showing positive signs. I’m guessing Lovie reasoned with Martz, after the Skins game, to come up with a plan to evolve his offense to be a tad more conservative.
