I am blessed/cursed with being a Chicago fan, I've accepted this. One thing that is hard to accept for me is what seems to be an "automatic failure" mindset Bears fans seem to have, but only have for that particular team.
I am a fan of the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks, and one thing I've noticed is people who are in the similar fandom I am, often don't celebrate the Bears the way that they celebrate the other teams. I have got several calls, texts and FB messages about how "yeah but they'll prolly get bounced in one game" they seem to not even enjoy making the playoffs. Yet if one of the teams I mentioned (possibly the Sox too, I don't really follow them the way I do the others) clinches or makes the slightest news, it's like manna from heaven. Example; last week the Cubs re-signed Kerry Wood and several of the same fans who said one and done for the Bears, were almost gloating about that signing as if the Cubs just punched a ticket to the World Series. I just don't get the negativity associated with the Bears, and I know it's there with the other teams too, but it doesn't seem like the instant disdain people have for the Bears when even mentioning them. I like all my teams equally, to quote the best radio voice in Chicago radio history "Is that wrong?"
