The punter(s) story seems odd.

Are they that afraid Maynard’s getting big bucks elsewhere? Or does he just not fit in their salary situation next year?

I know you're curious Joseph, you're at that age, and you often forget to delete your internet history.

Very amusing & disappointing at the same time

Fella couldn’t stay on the field and some how that’s the teams fault…

Some are “get it” guys. The others are “don’t get it” guys. Brandon Loyd obviously still a “don’t get it” guy.

If that makes any sense. ;)

Another humble & truely appriciative athlete.

BL clearly separates himself from the rest of the diva WR in professional football. He clearly shows how his former teams helped him to get where he is toady. (hahaha, that was fun to type!!!)

Everybody is gung-ho now, but if Cutler/Urlacher/Peppers/Hester goes down with an injury in the second half of a game

If Atlanta or New Orleans wins their games at noon, then Lovie better look at the bigger picture. Sweeping the division means nothing in the overall scheme of things. I’ve hated the Packers longer than most of the people on this site have been alive, and I love beating them, but none of that means a thing if it causes you to risk going blowing your chance to go deep into the playoffs.

by BearFan611 on Dec 29, 2010 6:38 PM CST up reply actions

He's trying to say that it doesn't matter if the play or not

It won’t have a dramatic effect on what they do in the playoffs. I believe he follow it up by giving examples of the Carolina playoff game, then the Seahawks the following year. One was a loss by an inferior team, and the other a win by a “better” team.

lmao from a packer fan

The size 14 horseshoe up the Bears arse continues..

Let’s review:

Week 1: An apparent game winning touchdown by Calvin Johnson is taken away by the zebras and the Bears narrowly escape an opening day upset.

Week 3: A franchise high 18 penalties (at least a few questionable) give the Bears a 20-17 upset win vs the Pack.

Week 5: Despite losing Cutler to a concussion due to a first half 11 sacks the previous week, the Bears face an awful Carolina team and Jimmy Claussen making his first start. Todd Collins is pulled at the end of the 3rd quarter with a 6.3 QB rating. Bears manage a win.

Week 9: Get to play a bad Buffalo team in Toronto. Chicago gets a much friendlier crowd than they would in Buffalo and escape with a 3 point win.

Week 11: Miami is forced to start 3rd string QB Tyler Thigpen, Chicago earns a 16-0 win.

Week 13: Facing another 3rd string QB making his first start of the year, Bears recieve a phantom blow to the head penalty on Detroit defensive tackle Suh and escape with a 4 point victory.

Week 15: Snowstrom makes Metradome unplayable and an old washed-up QB insists on playing hurt. Queens stud RB is hurt and inactive. Bears "roll".

Week 16: Snowstorm pushes Eagles/Vikings game back..Vikings a 14 point dog pull off the upset to clinch the #2 seed for Chicago..and a chance at-get this- the #1 seed.

The biggest break has been the health of the team..almost no significant injuries.

Don’t get me wrong, the bears are a good team. But they have also caught almost every break they possibly could. When does that streak end…?

It barely changed the game. Bears were 1st and 10 at the DET 22. Cutler ran for 8 yards to the DET 14. 2nd and 2. Penalty moves them half the distance to the goal and gives them 1st and goal at the 7.

What’s the big F’n deal? People claim this changes the outcome? How?

Just for reference, a list of things a "fortunate, not good" team doesn't take advantage of or do:
  • After “TD-Gate,” stop two more deep passes to the end-zone to the DET top weapon and arguably best WR in the NFC.
  • Beat the Cowboys before they folded/had Romo hurt.
  • Discovering a rushing game against Carolina and willingly going one-dimensional to win the game.
  • Be disciplined enough to not get 18 or 19 penalties en route to beating the Packers. I think GB got flagged again for a false start.
  • Shutting out (not beating, shutting out) a Dolphins team with a QB that had started 9 games for Kansas City once upon a time, now relegated to third string (suckage be damned, shutting out is hard to do).
  • Beating the Vikings with Favre and Peterson.
  • Beating the Lions with Stanton, something GB couldn’t do.
  • Beating the Vikings without Favre and Peterson.
  • Leading the Eagles 31-13 heading into the fourth and allowing two garbage-time TDs en route to winning.
  • Drop 40 on the Vikings and follow up with 38 on the Jets.

Lovie takes a lot of flak around here, but no one can say he doesn’t have a hand in making sure his guys are prepared every week to play, whether it be Favre or Webb, or Henne or Thigpen, or Stafford or Stanton. You know, 3rd string QBs that beat the Packers (Stanton) or Eagles (Webb),

Get over it, and hope your team hires a better team doctor and head trainer for next season!

I’m not too thrilled with the whole “Ok, we’re fine with playing our usual defense, which just happens to coincide with what New England does best” thing either, but let’s not forget they hung more than that on the Jets the week before, and at least we never fell asleep on third stringers.

by Steven Schweickert on Dec 29, 2010 12:11 PM CST up reply actions

Packer fans are amusing.

1) I am so tired of hearing about that Det game. If we’re going to live in Fantasyland, why not go all the way? Let’s say the touchdown counted. The Bears had 30 secs, 2 time outs, and Devin Hester. The Atlanta Falcons kicked a game winning FG two years ago with 11 secs, no time outs, and no Devin Hester and just happened to beat the Bears. In other words, if the touchdown would have counted, there was still plenty of time for the Bears who were moving the ball at will, to kick a game winner… the game WAS NOT OVER, IDIOTS.

2) At least a few questionable penalties? lol You mean the 4 or 5 holding penalties that mercifully, and for the Packers sake, WEREN’T CALLED?? That was Peppers coming out game. He completely and singlehandedly dismantled the entire Packer offensive line. You lost, Packer fans. Deal with it.

3) A Bears team… winning with defense and special teams? Gosh. How unusual. Wow- that’s just crazy.

4) Yawn.

5) 16-0 shutout. Yeah… we shut them out. A rare feat these days, for any NFL team. So… how’d you guys do when you played a third string QB? Oh… that’s right, you lost 7-3 to DETROIT. lol

6) Phantom blow to the head penalty equaled 7 yards. What a game changer.

7) Yawn.

8) Welcome to the NFL.

Packer fans: When they aren’t whining to the point of putting me to sleep, they are quite an amusing bunch.

As happy as I am for the #2 seed

I am a little concerned about a letdown this week, especially if neither ATL or NO loses and the Pack come out desperate to grab a playoff spot. I know it’s a rivalry game, but it’ll be very tempting to look ahead to the playoffs if there’s nothing “real” to play for besides bragging rights.

Probably the same reason harassment often doesn't get reported, don't want to lose a job

Not sure what she did after leaving the Jets but the whole sports business is pretty connected. If she wanted to be employed in a sports related field then causing trouble for a star QB wouldn’t endear her to the Jets or make her an attractive hire for any other sports related organization. AKA blackballing. The best that could’ve come out of her reporting it while employed would be that the Jets tried to hush her up with a pay raise and a move to a back office.

EVERY QB makes a few mistakes every game. even brady the great, who has had at least 7 or 8 INTs dropped. when brees threw those 2 picks monday night, the announcers made every effort to take him off the hook because of his other great plays. yet, with cutler, even when he almost makes a mistake, they go crazy on him…even in games where he has 3 TDs and 1 bad INT.

Dude

we’re talking about Bears D here, stopping the run, forcing the throw, and inevitably, getting the pick

Derrick Brooks thinks we are the best in the NFC

I always liked him.

Um I am sure

hes not gonna bad mouth his old coach team…..But he, hodge and bayless seem to be the defenders of the Bears while hasselbeck dilfer and ritchie want to rip into them any chance they get…….Almost like a gang fight…..

I want history to erase his every achievement.....I want him to feel the disgust in the bronco fans eyes when they look on him in shame....

Bayless thinks the saints are the best in the NFC and the bears 2nd

But he said it without bashing the bears. Like other would.

Always liked Hoge and Bayless.

Kinda surprised to see Brooks claiming Da Bears as the best in the NFC. Can’t say I disagree. Cutler and the offense are finally clicking. W/ the way our D and ST are playing we have a good shot at the SB.

Brooks understands the Tampa 2

and realizes the Bears have a pass rush now to make it more effective.

If you go in the bathroom, turn off the lights, and say "Da Coach" 5 times while facing the mirror... Ditka will appear and slap the wussy right out of you.

sometimes

that pass rush needs to be better than it was against the jets.

by mike b on Dec 29, 2010 11:33 AM CST up reply actions

Thats true

Im not that concerned though, sometimes the defense has their off days and you need the offense to step up, which is exactly what Cutler and company did sunday against the Jets.

by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter on Dec 29, 2010 11:35 AM CST up reply actions

also..the jets have a GREAT o-line

the d-line had a bad game, period, but sometimes the other team has something to do with it as well.

by guy incognito on Dec 29, 2010 12:23 PM CST up reply actions

I think it was the soft field

I really do. It made it difficult for both teams to get any footing and get to the QB. That’s why we saw the offensive explosion.

I think in Green Bay this weekend, if the field holds up and the starters are in, we get a ton of pressure on Rodgers and even a few a sacks and force him into some bad throws. You watch. I bet money our D looks much better this weekend.

by Skags on Dec 29, 2010 12:27 PM CST up reply actions

Anyone else notice that the former pro bowl/HOF candidates all say good things about the Bears

And the hasbeens/wannabes all rip into Cutler and the Bears???? Must mean something if the former GREATS are saying that we might be SB contenders.

by Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter on Dec 29, 2010 11:33 AM CST up reply actions

Brooks, Bruschi

Both like the bears.

Those are two of the former greats I was referring to

As well as Ditka (no surprize) and the whole football countdown crew. They are now believers of the navy and orange!

Well

the Boomer still never picks the bears. But who cares?

I’d probably switch to another team…..

Keyshawn is a hater still.

Tom Jackson has been in the Bears corner most of the year and I take what he says over Keyshawn anyday.

I like how

jackson picks the Bears though….After constantly ripping Cutler after the trade its always “If Cutler doesnt make mistakes and is not pressured he can make all the throws and they can win”…..Which is funny coming from him (and stink) since they were the ones most harping on Cutler not being a “winner” that kyle orton was……

but mentioning

the Bears having players like “Urlacher, Peppers, Briggs, and Davis” on defense kinda took away his credibility as an analyst. I kept thinking over and over again “who is this Davis on the Bears defense?” this was a week or so ago before Rashied Davis made his lone defensive play in the past half decade.

I know you're curious Joseph, you're at that age, and you often forget to delete your internet history.

did think in the beginning of the season that Peppers was a bad signing.

HAHA WoW

they were talking on sports center and ealier in the year bruschi had the Bears at #5 over the steelers and the host said “WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I tell you what if the Bears finish with more wins than the steelers I will come to your 5 acre mansion and mow your lawn”….They even shook on it on live TV and everything…..Guy was pretty upset…..Now bruschi was telling him to get ready to mow the lawn and how he wanted it cut…..
