Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions | Ugly Wins > Pretty Losses

Man... The Detroit game was - WOW - something else. Anytime you play a team within your division - no matter if you’re away or at home - you’re in for a battle. Not only that, but, historically, we’ve always had tough games in Detroit. So, before we even arrived at Ford Field, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy for us to push our winning streak to five, land a 9-3 record and remain one game ahead of the Packers. Yet - with the football gods on our side - we were still able to pull out a victory.

Before I comment on how the defense performed, let me talk-up the offense for a second...

The offense had a tremendous game. They moved the ball, they scored, they converted on 3rd downs, picked up first downs and, all in all, just straight-up did a great job of running and passing the ball. I really can’t say enough good things about them. They really had the defense’s back, yesterday.

And it’s a good thing they had our back, because, for whatever reason, the defense started out a little sluggish. I really don’t know why, but we just started out sloooow. We gave up 17 points in the first half and that touchdown right before halftime was probably our lowest point of the game. We were all stunned beyond belief, including Lovie. During halftime, he told us exactly how he felt and the defense stepped it up after that. In the second half we only gave up 3 points and around 50 yards, which was huge and allowed us to win the game.

Once again, the offense did a wonderful job of putting points on the board. They were absolutely tremendous. Defensively, I felt we stepped it up after our slow start and got the stops we needed when we needed them. Also, Devin Hester did a great job returning kicks and the special teams definitely showed up to play ball.

You know, man... In December, a win is a win. It really doesn’t matter how you get them. I don’t believe in ugly victories -- To me, a victory is just that: a victory. I’d rather have an ugly victory than a pretty loss, any day of the week. At this point in the season, all you wanna do is win. And fortunately we were able to do that.

Next week against the Patriots, we plan to continue this winning trend. It’s a huge match-up at Soldier Field and we definitely need the 4th Phase to be in full effect. So start BEARIN’ DOWN now so you’ll be good and ready to BEAR DOWN on Sunday...

OH! And speaking of "BEARIN’ DOWN..." Tomorrow, I’ve got a contest of HISTORIC proportions coming your way. So tune in, alright!? I have a hunch you're really going to like the "sound" of it ;-)
