bears' key issue per seifert
A pressing issue: A defensive approach that has slipped from feared status to one that seems stale and passive.
Vasher
“Definitely, I can still be a starter in this league. We’ll worry about anything else when it happens. I am definitely excited about the future.”
Good for you Nate!!!
But, where was all that confidence and can do attitude the last three years?
Go start somewhere else then Nate

he's gone
especially if there is no cap, there will be no cap hit for cutting him… he gone!

Start and get burned regularly somewhere else!

I never liked Vasher
He’s real s l o w he can’t man up on any WR, and it seemed all his picks were thrown right to him.
He played in the system as best as he could, and he’ll need to find another team that plays more zone coverage than man.

Yep
He thrived in a defense that put a lot of pressure on the QB; nothing more, nothing less. He’s be exposed since he’s had to actually cover someone longer than 1.5 seconds.

I'll say it again
Vasher should shell out at least half of his earnings, of his last contract, to T. Harris, Wale, A. Brown & Tank… with Izzy getting a little love as well.
The Bears have already assigned Rod Marinelli their defensive coordinator duties. Marinelli won’t change the Bears’ scheme, but he would be well-advised to find a way to shake up the complacency that seems to have settled over Chicago’s once-proud defense. He has the kind of fiery personality to do so.
Note to Hot Rod…
To change the culture of the Chicago Bears D you have two options. Kick Lovie square in the nuts on the first day of OTA’s and tell the rest of the team that if anyone wants some they can come get some. Another option would be to quit and ask Buddy Ryan to take over.
Price Check on aisle BOOM.
Well said
Either option should get it done!
I’d like to see video footage of the first one on the Bears’ official website.

I would hope, but Lovie has no balls so the first option might not work.

I would rather try to trade Vasher than cut him
I dont think there will be any takers but with the Bears luck Vasher may go somewhere and return back to old form
I think they'll try and trade him
And who knows, all it takes is one team to see value in him… allbeit a late round value, but you never know.
by Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. on Feb 10, 2010 11:02 AM CST up reply actions
Agreed...
though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vasher play well for some other team. Lovie seems to have that effect on his former players!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
LOL
Chicago, Where players go to leave and become better.
I can almost guarantee you
with all certainty that Vasher won’t play a big role with anyone. Nor will he ever be very successful again. He doesn’t have any speed or size, and cannot play man-to-man coverage. It’s not a coincidence that his decline came exactly around the time the Bears D-line started to suck.

I completely agree
Just throwing a little jokey out there.
i slept right through the earthquake
and i hope vasher is gone—-no matter the method, as long as he’s not on the roster next year then that is addition by subtraction.

The Muppets as the half-time show?
That would be amazing. Lol.

What do you guys think of giving up the 3rd rd pick for Boldin?
I was just reading on PFT about how that is what the dolphins are going to offer the Cardinals.
yes
only a 3rd round pick, get it done
by Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. on Feb 10, 2010 12:06 PM CST up reply actions
Absolutely,
I’d give them our 3rd round pick, Lovie’s son and a $25 gift card Hard Rock Cafe.

The Cards
won’t do it. Especially since another team will most likely give up a 2nd rounder for him. Please see the Ravens, Broncos?, Jets, and Dolphins.

Don't be so sure
remember all they were offered last year was a 2 and that was by us. Now boldin is a year older and coming off an injury plagued campaign. Not to mention Breaston really stepped it up this year and Early looks like he is also coming around.
i really was upset when we didnt get him last year...
But after this season, not so much. I still like him and for a 3rd rounder I think it would be a solid trade.

So you're happy with Gilbert and Iglesias?
That’s pretty much what we got for that 2nd round pick. The jury is certainly still “out” on them though.

I am all for getting Boldin...
and 3rd rounder sounds good.
My bet is on Gilbert being the next Bazuin, useless and coulda been got much later in the draft. I’m more excited to see Melton. Iglesias may benefit the most from Martz as the OC.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
I think we should have used that pick micheal johnson
He is the big DE that went a couple picks later to the bengals.
I'd be up for it
Trading for Boldin would most likely mean the departure of Greg Olsen then.

I dont know if we would have made the moves to get him
but i would have much rather had Phil Loadholt in the 2nd, than Gilbert and Iglesias

Ding ding!
We have a winner. I was thinking the same thing at the beginning of the season when Gilbert wasn’t doing anything, while Loadholt was starting at RT.

I believe we passed him over and traded down, instead. Read somewhere that the Vikings couldn’t believe he was still available when it came to their 2nd round pick.

I could go with a 3rd rounder...
But the only option to cut is Davis to keep us from having an insanely huge WR corps.
