David Haugh: Bears must hire future GM now. Good read.

Pace still considering retirement; any predictions on his decision?

Biggs breaks down the Special Teams.  In other news, Tim Shaw is a beast.

LeGere: Ruskell expected to join the Bears soon?

RosenBlog gives quite the entertaining article yesterday; a circus, if you will.

Joe Cullen doesn't remember the naked incident.  Others aren't so lucky.

Have we mentioned WCG is on Twitter?

Biggs breaks down the Guards/ Centers.

Two more axes still to fall at Halas Hall?

Lower-revenue teams got short-changed by the league according to the NFLPA.

Bears mailbag with Jeff Dickerson.  Trading up in the draft?

A 4.43 40 at 50.  Wow.

If they keep firing everyone now

Who will be the fall guys next season? I guess Lovie could always fire Rod if it doesn’t work out on D.

Well

maybe it is a sign that if things do not work out this coming season everyone is gone….guess we will see…..

I do want the trainer fired and the college scout.

I’m really scared that we are stuck with these two at least another two years. If we finish out of the playoffs again and they stick around. I really think I will have to take a year off.

Ya

I am kinda of glad if gabriel is gone….PFT is making gabriel out to be some sort of super scout when the past drafts have been beyond mediocre….Plus I have heard from various Bear fans about how bream is an arrogant type guy…

Haugh has a great point...

about looking for JAs successor. It may be the one position that continues through the next few seasons anyway. We all know that Lovie is one and done; not even a Martz offense can save Lovie’s stupid defensive philosophy-bend and break and admit no failure. SO, why not do the hiring of one position properly.
I believe this thinking could actually benefit the Bears. Let’s take the perspective that the Bears will be mediocre this season again, say hovering around .500. There are a few player/position holes to fill and a few others to get solidified. So why not look at this next season in terms of actually building a future for the team. Quality players can usually fit most systems.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!

by LostInSTL on Feb 17, 2010 9:42 AM CST reply actions

But wouldn't Angelo be hiring the new pro personnel guy?

He might just pull a Lovie and hire someone who’s no threat to replace him.

by SaintCee on Feb 17, 2010 10:36 AM CST up reply actions

The article notes...

that JA is looking to retire and there has been more than idle speculation that JA may not even finish out his contract, but opt to retire. Thus, he may not be to averse to “grooming” his legacy rather than simply retire and get replaced. It guess it depends on his work ethic and ego, but it might be a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season. I am really lowering my expectations this year and not just as a way to save my sanity, but as a realistic perception of the way the organization is being driven by Lovie. My hope is the Bears can at least improve the talent level on this team even if the coaching remains the atrocious disaster Lovie has created.

The idiots at Halas hall are at it again...

It’s Mark Hatley v.2…

Mike Florio on the SCORE right now, speculating that Greg Gabriel is gonna run this draft, and likely be out the door soon afterwards

Yep

Profootball talk is saying the same thing:

Amid rumors that the sudden termination of Bears director of pro personnel Bobby DePaul could lead to the departure of director of college scouting Greg Gabriel, a league source tells us that Gabriel most likely will remain on the job through the 2010 draft.

On the surface, it makes sense. The uncapped year makes free agency more limited than usual in 2010. In contract, the looming rookie wage scale has nudged more high-end juniors than ever into the draft pool. More than ever, the draft dramatically overshadows free agency in 2010.

Moreover, if Gabriel were going to be fired, why not fire him the same day DePaul was escorted out by security?

Link…..

Hey it worked in 01 and saved everyones job for 3 more season….maybe they are thinking it can work again I guess….

Either that are they are just doing it to piss off SackMan….

So what is my motivation for false hope this year?

Pending a big FA sign. I’m finding it hard to believe we’ll be contenders this year. Can someone besides Ted, Lovie or JA lie to me and tell me we’ll right this ship this year.

I bet that Al Davis is gonna try to sign Darrell Green now.

A guy in his 50s with a 4.33 in the 40 yard dash time, he just can’t turn that **** down! That would be a great target for JaMarcus!

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.

I can't stand band-wagoner fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.
