Improving the team with 6th rounders and rookie free agents...

“Teams are allowed a maximum of 30 pre-draft visits. Typically, the Bears use their visits on players not at the combine in order to get medical information on them. They consider this pool of players for late-round draft picks and free agency.”

That last sentence is priceless. That is the only pool they use. It is as if they don’t know about the other pool that most NFL teams use or the Bears are afraid to go to that other cool pool because they get laughed at for wearing their shirts when they swim.

The Bears have been shallow-enders for a long damn time...

and I hope this Batten is a LB prospect and not

…another undersized speed rusher…

in general

I’m afraid that it is a shallow and brackish pool – that of players not at the combine.

and ghods willing...

they will sign Julius Peppers this offseason. That settle it for me til camp..and a drafted FS.

don't count on it.

No way that They sum up the money for him. That would be the only FA they could sign. Watch for them to sign a washed up safety and olineman and draft another “project” on the dline

Are the Williams' boys and their lawyers...

that ignorant to believe that, even though their paid by the Vikings, the NFL is their employer? Their “paychecks” come from the Vikings franchise and not the NFL. They contracted with Minn and the NFL doesn’t control how much they get paid. The NFL doesn’t control how owns the team or where the team plays, that’s the team owners as a whole. The only thing that the NFL does control is the teams regular season schedule.

We are who we think we are.

They don't have to believe or prove it

They just have to see a loophole and find sympathetic Minnesota judges agree with them. They’ve already succeeded in putting off their suspensions a year. The most hilarious side affect of this I can imagine would be the professional sports leagues barring Minnesota teams from their leagues. If they cant enforce their drug testing in one state they either have to exclude that state’s teams or apply that state’s rules to all their teams which would limit their ability to monitor performance enhancers, or legalize juicing.

Of course I know little about the case specifics and the chance of this happening is very slim to nil but it would still be amusing, all so the Vikings could have a shot at a title. That they fumbled. Cracks me up.

Batten

As much as I tire of undersized speed rushers. I would love to have the guy just because I live in South Dakota.

so i heard on the radio today that the bears are raising ticket prices

and ted phillps said they aren’t going to “go crazy” in free agency.

anyone else catch this? anyone care?

by Hatchetm on Feb 19, 2010 8:33 PM CST reply actions

didnt catch it...

but I think this organization deserves more cash money from its loyal fan base even though they continue to raise prices while putting an inferior product on the field. Being crazy and going crazy are 2 totally different things. Do not hold your breath waiting for the Bears to be big “buyers” in free agency.

I'm just shocked...

…that Bigfoot Phillips was sighted at all, let alone said anything.

Go over to ......

……….. Profootballtalk.com to read the entire story , but to sum it up IF we have another sup par season the ticket price raise is to cover the Lovie & Angelo buyouts ( or so its therorized ) . So now how many of the Lovie / Ja haters are willing to pay for their exit ?

Ownership want fans to bail them out for their own pathetic handling and mismanagement of the team and GM/HC? Nice.

That's some BS, they have the audacity to raise prices?

They better worry bout putting a professional FB team together that can compete before the loyal fan base shows them just how loyal we are and not show up to any of their f’n football games.

JUST DREAMING

IT WOUILD BE NICE IF THE BEARS WERE SMART THIS YEAR DURING FREE AGENCY, IF THEY WANT A QUICK FIX AS THEY SAY THEY DO THAN THERE ARE A COUPLE OF PLAYERS WORTH GETTING. LT STILL HAS SOMETHING IN THE TANK WHICH YOU COULD USE HIM AND FORTE IN THE BACKFIELD AND CREATE OUR OWN THUNDER AND LIGHTENING. i KNOW TERRELL OWENS HAS SOME ISSUES BUT HE STILL A GOOD PLAYER AND WE NEED SOMEBODY PROVEN TO HELP CUTLER. WITH LT, FORTE, TO AND OLSEN AT HIS DISPOSAL CUTLER WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE. OUR DEFENSE WITH THE ADDITION OF PEPPERS WOULD JUST BE PLAN NASTY. A HEALTHY URLACHER, BRIGGS ALONG WITH A FRONT FOUR THAT INCLUDED PEPPPERS, A HEALTHY HARRIS WOULD BE AWESOME. I KNOW IM DREAMING BUT IF THE BEARS ARE RAISING TICKET PRICES TO GET PLAYERS LIKE THIS I WOULD NOT MIND ONE BIT TO PAY FOR TICKETS. BUT I KNOW THIS IS A DREAM BUT HEY WE CAN ALL DREAM.
