The three men and a maybe article is pretty good.
Lovie will either land him another extension with a deep playoff run, or he may of hand picked his replacement depending which side of the ball does better in another non playoff year.
Here’s to hoping for a 11-5 season and deep playoff run..Bear Down 2010!
No audibles?
Did I read that article correctly when he said that Martz allows few if any audibles by the QB? In today’s NFL, is that a good idea? I mean, the best QBs in the league are constantly calling audibles at the line of scrimmage.
Also, just change the turf already. I don’t care if the players like it or not, but I want our turf to contribute to Bears victories. If having artificial turf will allow us to play a more dynamic offense…go for it. 4-5 years ago, when all we did was run the ball, I was all for sod. Now…we have an offense that will likely be more pass-oriented. Give them the tools to flourish.
That is correct
martz has been known to “blow up” at QBs that have audibled out of his called play….
hub on the score yesterday said that they will not change the turf because the Bears are fighting with the park district on who should pay for it and the Bears will not pay for a turf change….

thats b.s.
They make so much money and so does the park district. Do we have a lease on our stadium? I can’t stand that they allow us to play on this crap field. We need to suck it up and pay for it.

Yes Bears lease soldier field
and that is why they are fighting for who should pay for a turf change….park district thinks the turf is fine….

I remember before they re-did Soldier field,
there was talk about Gary, IN. I live in Indiana, so all of my so called friends use the term, “Gary Bears”, just to get me going. Imo, that isn’t funny at all…haters. As far as the field, they just need to pay for the turf change instead of being so damn cheap. That has to attribute to some of the injuries we’ve had and they should take that into account.

Shane Day

49ers quality control coach Shane Day a leading candidate to be hired by #Bears as QB coach
Story he linked to here.
Shane Day will arrive at Halas Hall today with a good chance of being hired as quarterbacks coach, a league source said. Day has spent the last three seasons as a quality control coach for the 49ers, working with new offensive coordinator Mike Martz in 2007 and 2008.
Another league source said the Bears couldn’t get Martz’s top choice to be quarterbacks coach, Adam Gase, out of his contract in Denver where he is the Broncos wide receivers coach.

2010 Brings...?
I think the hiring of Mike Martz will help Jay Cutler and this young offense…LONG TERM. I dont have total faith that the Bears “O” will pull a 180 and show improvement leaps and bounds, but if Martz can get Cutler on the same page (and thats the same page as SOMEBODY on the team) and Tice can squeeze that O-Line together, the offense might be servicable.
A healthy Urlacher and Tinoasamoa (if he comes back) would be uplifting, as the Bears lost 5 of their 9 games by a score or less…The defense needs to return to form…some form at least would be nice.
Is a 10-6 out of the question? Its obvious that anything less will not be tolerated, I can see the Bears parting ways with Lovie Smith for anything less. PLease somebody tell me there is more than HOPE for 2010!
The Bears are serving
and I’m drinking, as usual. Now that all of this is beginning to sink in I’m starting to get excited about the potential of this team, potential being the key operate word.
but I still like my math.
I can’t tell you that there is more than “hope” but I can say that we now have a tremendous amount of coaching experience on staff and, I believe some great teachers to help develop the promising young talent we have and bring some cohesiveness and confidence to the team.
Drink up!

Field Turf - Please!
I generally hate phony grass but after watching the Bears slip and slide on the torn-up real grass the past few seasons I must compromise and vote for field turf at Soldiers Field.
Especially with our new OC and a defense based on speed.

Field Turf Option...
I know there have been some articles written on how the Bears and the Chicago Park District have created a schism over who should be responsible for paying for the transition to field turf at Soldier Field.
I have a wild Idea…Let’s get some of the famous Chicagoans to work together and get this done. If the Bill Murray, John & Joan Cussack, Jim Belushi, Vince Vaughn, etc. of Chicago could each pony up A couple hundred thousand dollars…we could have our field turf and they could all get a nice tax write off as a charitable donation to the park district.
I don’t know how realistic it is but it’s worth a shot…

If they don't get the turf
They should at least try to keep the grass in good shape. I have been to University of Phoenix Stadium a couple of times, they have real grass, and it looks great. But that might be from the weather in Arizona.

Does anyone have the approximate cost???
To change the sod over to field turf???
I know there was a post about it a couple of months ago…but I don’t remember if there was any discussion on what the actual cost would be…
Thanks

If a High School booster club
can raise money to put in Field Turf why can’t an NFL Franchise?

Did anyone post the story with Warner giving some advice to Cutler?
I think it would fit in with the article about Faulk.
