Now with Mike Martz at the offensive helm, will the Bears be a playoff contender ?
Mike Martz is known for his aggressive offense, his relentless passing and strong offensive line. But will that be enough for the Bears to make it into the playoffs in the 2010 - 11 season? With new found talent in Johnny Knox and Devin Aromashodu, along with Earl Bennett and Juaquin Iglesias, the Bears could probably move
Devin Hester back to primarily handling kicks and punts. If the offensive line holds up, the once sure handed Matt Forte can have an outstanding year with the defenses focusing on the pass. The Bears defense is another story. If the defensive line can stop the run, the linebackers stay healthy, and the corners defends some passes, then the Bears could well be on their way to the playoffs this year and maybe the Superbowl.

I just got done drinking a gallon of BearAid
so I said yes. I’m going to try to remain positive with the hopes we make some solid FA moves and some quality draft picks. If that happens I think we have a shot at the playoffs. I hope we aren’t as turrible as last year and if we are I guess we know that a complete overhaul will take place.
Price Check on aisle BOOM.
10-6 2nd place in the Division behind the Vikes
Wild Card Birth…
Depends on who we play in the first round if we advance…
Packers stumble this year and fall to 3rd in the Division…
Lions, well they’re the Lions…
Unreasonable people make life difficult...
Yes, we will make the playoffs.
I think how far we go will depend greatly on who we pickup via FA. If they go all out, we will take the division imo. If they don’t go all out but make some key moves, I think we come in second in our division still making the playoffs as a wildcard. As disappointing as last year was, without some of the injuries we had, I think we would have been a whole lot closer to a wildcard spot than we were. The absence of Urlacher and Pisa hurt us more than I have seen people talk about on here.
Walter Payton lives on!!!
It's too early for me to chug the Orange and Blue Koolaid
I think we’re due for some increased offensive output with Martz coming in, but holy hell the defense was terrible last year. Even with a healthy LB corps, we’re still looking at a team that can’t generate a pass rush and has major problems in the secondary.
And this is the Lovie/Jerry/Virginia Bears we’re talking about. No picks until the 3rd round, and no indication that they’re looking to move up in the draft. If they do spend money in free agency, these are the same people that have brought in Pace and Omiyale to fix the O Line last year, and thought Marinelli was the best off season acquisition.
Speaking of Marinelli, the guy has never called plays before and now he’s the D Coordinator. If Tice can get the O Line in shape, and Martz’ offense puts up some points we could look at a play off team. I’d love to see the Bears make the play offs, but a lot of things would have to go right for them to make that happen.
