Looking for Bears fans Opinions
Obviously you HAVE TO be happy with Bears off season moves so far.......but do you still want to go after a QB? (ie Vick or McNabb) Or do you think Jay Cutler has the stuff to take the team all the way? Do you think the Bears gave up too much for him? Or is it just an O-line problem? Like the Packers clearly have :-(
Comments please,
Thanks in advance for your opinions Bears Fans!

Jays main issues ....
…… were the O-line not giving him time to throw , Ron Turner not playing to Cutlers strengths ( movment outside the pocket ) and Jays poor mechanics at times .Two of the three are in the process of being fixed . Turner is gone that issue is fixed . Martz , if nothing else , will fix Jay’s mechanics so issue two is being fixed as we speak . The O-line , be it through FA or the draft , will get look at soon but has yet to be dealt with proper like . As of right now two out of three ain’t bad but we need to fix our O-line problem ASAP .

With the addition of a legitimate #2 back (or having an actual “C” in the RBBC) hopefully Jay won’t be throwing as much percentage-wise next season.

Come on, man!
Of course we’re NOT going after a QB! That’s poppycock, sir. Do we need a good back-up QB? Hell yes, but that’s a different story.

you can draft that or wait for the cuts to start at camps I wouldn’t worry about that….is Cambell still out there he not a starter but he showed enough with the Skins to be a good back up QB
by greenbay packers backer on Mar 11, 2010 5:44 AM CST up reply actions
No we can't draft that.
We have enough unproven QBs. It would be better to get a veteran guy like Kitna, Garcia or maybe Bulger if/when he is released.

Kitna

Dude, we're set at QB
But I have a question for you!
How are you guys feeling about the new uni’s coming to GB?
Haven't seen them yet
I haven’t seen them yet however……I heard they were a throw back to the 20’s and 30’s jerseys. That CAN’T be good!

But it can't be worse than that crap the Broncos put out last year.

QB is set
The Bears need a FS and an O-Lineman

Did we give up a lot for Jay?
Yes, but remember that in that deal we also got Johnny Knox. I say good deal…
We were still pretty set in terms of draft picks after the trade for Cutler
Having picks 2-7 was more than doable in terms of finding quality picks. It was the Gaines Adams trade that threw us out of the first day in terms of the draft…however it may have led to Julius Pepper being signed so it’s all in hindsight.
by MetalGearPeaceWalker on Mar 10, 2010 11:59 PM CST up reply actions
Yeah, no regrets here for the picks lost in the Cutler trade
But the loss of the 2nd rounder in a draft this deep is painful. There will be 1st round equivalent talent available through the middle of the 2nd.
NO WE WILL NOT GO AFTER ANOTHER QB
you guys on the otherhand should seeing how peppers will be sacking rodgers many many many times
BEAR DOWN!!
I meant would you rather have Vick, McNabb, or Culter if you had your choice! Clearly the Bears will not be going after another QB.
PS with that type of jerk answer I almost mistaken you for a Vikings fan……come man Bears fans normally have more class than that!!

Easy tiger i had all caps on please dont compare me to a viQUEENS fan lol
I would rather have cutler over alot of Qbs because when he was given time and the offensive gameplan was designed around him we did well I.E. the roll outs.
But im serious about the peppers comment and you guys play the mullet twice a year as well

I'd feel better if old Teddy would do this year in the draft for the O-LINE what he did last year for the Defense. Just in case he doesnt I voted for Mr Allen to grace the cover of Madden 10. The Madden curse is real ask Brett or Troy or Vince Young.

Cutler all day
over Vick or McNabb… I don’t know many teams that would say differently either, given the choice… a couple over thirty QBs, one’s a felon, one chokes in the clutch…or the “young favre”

My opinion is
1. We are set at QB for many years to come. Cutler had an off year(could be caused by poor mechanics, new offensive system, Ron Turner, poor O-line play, and/or a combination of all), but he still threw for the second most yardage and had the most completions in franchise history. He did throw way to many intersceptions last year but if he cleans it up this season look out!!!!
2. I wouldn’t really want to be Aaron Rogers this year having to see Peppers and Allen twice each.
3. Even though the Packers did better than the Bears last year…I think they were playing well in front of their skiis. The fact that they let the Cardinals drop 50+ on them in a playoff game is great example of this…
4. I feel the Bears will improve this year, the Vikings will remain about the same, and the Packers will fall off a little. I see the North ending up like Vikings, Bears, Packers, Lions, with the Bears fighting for a wild card spot.
I live in Menomonie, so I have a good understanding of both the Packers and Vikings and based on the transactions and rumors to this point this is how I see 2010 breaking down.
Unreasonable people make life difficult...
The Vikings fate rest soley in the hands of #4
They can tell me how great AD is ( which i’m no fool he is a beast) but after that playoff game where he layed the ball on the ground 5 times he’s is not the best back in the league.
Everybody keeps talking about J Pep is 30 he is old ,last time I checked they have a dinosaur on their line . Alot of their ability to pressure the QB comes from teams having to pick their poison on who they are going to double team ( we will find out soon enough if that helps us or not) .
The Vikings are a strong team but they have the worst thing going against them you could possibly have. It is the fact that the football gods hate them because they know their fans are total D-bags..
We are fine at QB. We need OLine. (I have a question for you...)
Are you panicing that u have to face Julius Peppers in addition to Jared Allen twice each next year after giving up the most sacks in the NFL last yeaR? haha
Don't forget Vanden Bosch

I NEVER want to see the Bears D!!
I NEVER EVER look forward to seeing the Bears D…a great defense is THE HALLMARK of the Bears always has been.
The Bears are one of the few true “blue collar teams” left in the NFL that is not flashy but always play hard as a team and you know no matter what the records are coming into the game IT WILL BE battle with the Bears D laying out someone hard at least 5 times a game.
That is why I respect the Bears and hate the Vikings!!
That and Vikings fans are know nothing jerks and Bears fans are true fans and know the game!!

Apparently you haven't heard what's goin on over at Halas Hall.
We have just aquired the captain of our new high flying, deep ball chuckin, 4 wideout mad scientist. No more of that “we get off the bus running” stuff around here anymore. We realized the forward pass is now legal in the NFL. We’re gonna be flashy sir real flashy. :) Haha…
Adrian Pedestrian!! Now that's funny Mr. Bayless...
I believe The Bears will get one or two great WR in the draft or FA this year. They dont seem done yet this offseason this season smells like the season Bears mgt finally goes all out and really tries to win it all.
by greenbay packers backer on Mar 11, 2010 6:00 AM CST up reply actions
Funny how the threat of losing your job gets you motivated :)
If we pick up a starting FS, OG, or OT before the draft then we’d be free to look for some WRs. Otherwise our first two picks need to be spent on an FS and Oline and I don’t think we’d spend more than one later round pick on a WR. We’re pretty well stuffed with young receivers that need some playing time to improve. We could use a big bodied, field stretching receiver but I don’t think we can invest anything above a 5th rounder.
Again::::Forget the WR's
You bring in those castoffs and play them, you can kiss the existing wr squad goodbye because they will do no more than warm the benches and will be deprived of any play time to improve their skills and positions on the roster. After a year or two on the bench and they will be useless fodder that you won’t be able to give away. Talk about a waste !!!
isn't one of the consensus' here
that our Oline was coming together at the end of the year? why can’t the same be said for our WR?

by BearNecessities on Mar 11, 2010 9:12 AM CST up reply actions
I am absolutely in agreement
with you on that point. The line was coming together, the WRs were performing as though they belonged in the NFL, and Cutler was far more consistently good down the stretch.
Having said that, I believe that FS is the most pressing need to complete the Tampa 2, and that they hsould be drafting for depth in the O/D Line and LB.
As for the QB situation… I think we’re golden. I forget who it was, might have been Dan Marino, Steve Young, or maybe Troy Aikman that, at the time of the trade, said something along the lines of The Bears have just made the deal of the decade, landing the most physically gifted QB in the NFL for a game manager and a couple of picks that they won’t miss in the long run. I could not agree more.
Given the state of our running game last year, Defenses were sitting back, waiting for Cutler to throw the ball, that plus the development of the OLine and WRs led to a lot of interceptions.
This year should be much better, but there are still growing pains, as there is another new system being put into place for the Offense to learn and perfect.

Just want to say...
Thanks for your flattering assessment of the fans of the NFC North (Do the Lions actually have fans??). I tend to agree with your assessment – just switch the Bears and Packers positions. I believe that the Packers fans are passionate and knowledgeably – like us Bears fans, and yeah… then there’s those “people” in Minnesota… We’ll leave it at that.
While I don’t LIKE the Packers… (I AM a Bears fan afterall) I respect them, their fans and the organization. I look forward to playing them at least two times, every year as you said – Should be an excellent game, regardless of the outcome. They’re just better when the Bears win. LoL

Packers: Love to Hate
Vikings: just hate, loathe, apathy…disgust

Oh hell yeah… Aaron Freakin’ Rogers and Brett Favre, about 40 plays a game two times a year. We’re definitely going after those guys.

Perfect storm
of crappyness. There’s much blame to go around for Jay’s “off” year, but he like many other prima-donnas at the QB position, he has to look at himself in the mirror. His mechanics were very reminicient of the Sex Cannon (throwing off his back foot and into double/triple coverage, etc). He certainly needs to be better diagnosing an opposing defense, and throw to his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options. Once he does this, the sky is his ceiling.
''I'm really not a Facebook or Twitter guy. I'm a prime rib and baked potato guy.'' - Sweet Lou
Lots of factors here
Of course we don’t need a new QB. Last year was a bad year for Cutler but there’s a bunch of reasons why. The OLine didn’t give him much time to find his receivers and throw the ball, Turner didn’t play to Cutler’s strengths, his receivers were very inexperienced and didn’t run routes properly or fight for possesion and then of course there were Jay’s mechanics. But I honestly believe that his mechanics were a cause of his trying to do way too much. Yes he’s always been a risk-taker but he didn’t have horrible mechanics in Denver. That shows that the previous coaching staff was content on not coaching Cutler and allowing him to grow complacent with average to bad mechanics. Also the offense almost always kept playing from behind. And the last reason is that he was labelled the savior of the team. That is a huge burden so of course he kept trying to carry the team and when you have a gun-slinger mentality it’s not good to throw the ball that much because you will make tons of mistakes. As much as I don’t like Martz he’s a nazi when it comes to training his QB and that will only be good for Jay. The differences between Cutler and Rogers is that Rogers holds on to the ball too long so he gets sacked whereas Jay doesn’ take the sack he just chucks the ball up. Also Rogers has Jennings and Driver, two of the best WR’s in the league. So no the Bears are ok at QB.
My question to your dumb answer is
Do you need to go after a QB this year..??I know we got a probowler qb that earned being there not getting in by default..lol lol..But after ur QB gets pounded into the ground a few times do you have a goood back for him..?
Really my question to your dumb answer
Please read your post BEFORE posting them!!

From what I am understanding
You are asking if the Bears should get a “vet QB” to be behind Jay as the #2? I remember Bear fans screaming for Hanie to start when orton was QB….that was good….Though I have to admit I am a Hanie fan myself (didnt want him to start but thought he could play well and start eventually if given time/support)….
Word on the street is the Bears will look to bring in shaun hill should he get cut by the 49ers….
As for who is to blame for what happened last season….Personally I blame everyone Jay, turner, WRs, defense, etc….lol….

O-Line, Bad Playcalling, and maybe a color blindness issue....
I think Cutler will be better this year. The Bears have some receivers who looked good last year, and hopefully Martz knows how to adapt his offense for Cutler.
