Why?
Martz doesn’t even utilize a FB most of the time! I was looking forward to McKie getting cut!

I did some checking
They have him listed as a TE on the Redskin’s roster, I think he’s more of an H-Back type…He’s 6’1 250 but idk what use we have for him other than practice squad
Kobe isnt good....He's just better than your favorite player
SB here we come
McKie better look behind him!

Nice Adam
short and sweet. I was going to throw this up awhile ago but had no idea about how to go about it.
Ummmm
Maybe the bears are just sign happy but i dont no why we got this guy even for a practice body i was thinking they were gonna cut Mckies
FB dive!
Maybe we brought him in to juice-up the ol’ FB dive!
The dude looks like a beast, and had almost 200 yards on 19 carries in college (yes, those are 4 year totals).
Martz is getting TEs, RBs, and FBs that fit his style. I’m alright with that. Look for him to bring in his own #2 QB as well.
He also broke his leg last year in practice!
and we signed him for a one-year deal. Could be a waste of money.

Remember...
Wanny’s stache..looked like a rat gnawed off some on the one side. Who was he trying to fool with that? I mean, I wouldn’t even let him carry Ditka’s luggage right?

You're being very Un-Dude right now.

Maybe he'll ....
…. have an impact and we can cut the dead weight known as Jason McKie . This kid seems to be solid ( minus his injury last season ) and could be worthy of a roster spot . He can play multiple positions so that makes him better than McKie already .
by MidWayMonster54 on Mar 10, 2010 7:21 PM CST reply actions
What???...
Damn, I hope it was a league min salary. The Bears need to get the Atogwe deal done soon and then prepare for the draft.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
I remember not that long ago,
we brought in Tim Shaw (LB) to play ST and give us some depth at LB. A lot of people on here including myself didn’t know what the dude could do and really didn’t give him a chance on here before actually seeing him play. He ended up being a beast on ST and could even be a really good backup for our LB’ing corps. Maybe this kid is solid, we won’t know until we see him play.
Walter Payton lives on!!!
omg
somebody thinking rationally! And, McKie blocks just fine and although he can’t get anything after the catch, the guy doesn’t drop balls when checked down to.
Get a grip guys, you would be amazed at how many guys are in the league not drafted or drafted in the 6 or 7th rounds that are awesome. The politics in the league is crazier then the avg Joe could imagine. Guess it’s no different than any other field in America.
Eddie Williams
Is more of an H Back than a pure “Full back”.
He is a solid blocker (or was in college for whatever that is worth) and is a solid receiver as well. He caught like 100 passes for over 1000 yards in college as a Full Back.
This is not a glamorous signing at all, true, but it is nice. Martz likes to run 3 receiver, 2 back sets now and then with a RB and a H Back. Sometimes the H Back is the checkdown and RB blocks, sometimes its vice versa. Having a FB who can block and catch well is important for those plays. While that may be a small portion of the play book, if he blocks better than McKie we have made our 4th move to upgrade pass protection before drafting an O lineman -
1) Cut Pace
2) Get Big M
3) Get a 2nd RB who can block or catch
4) Find someone better than McKie

camp body
he’s probably going to be competition for mckie and will ta’uf’tu (is that right? don’t remember the spelling).
i remember all the talk about will earlier during camp and preseason, and he still ended up on the practice squad. if i remember correctly will was a really good blocker and receiver fullback in college. i wonder how much he’s improved with a year to season on the practice squad?
fullback competition should be interesting this year. i can see any of these 3 being our starter, with the emphasis martz puts on receiving ability.
