Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Chiefs Sign Lilja

The Chiefs have signed former Colts Left Guard Ryan Lilja

Linky from The Associated Press, Pops like Corn

Star-divide

This should pretty much guarantee that one of our top picks will be a guard or tackle. Hopefully we can acquire a safety (Atogwe) so that the 3rd round pick can be used to draft the best possible Offensive Lineman available. Some of the available lineman were highlighted by Lester's post.

I think we should go LG and move Omiyale to RT where he seems to be a better fit.

Seems to be

a little undersized for what the Bears are looking for at guard. I don’t mind passing on this guy, since he’s not a very good run or pass blocker.

Definitely better at pass blocking

but why would we want someone “horrible” at run blocking when we have to face the Williams’ Wall and the Packers stout front three? No thank you.

I don't mind drafting an OL

even in the 3rd. But Lilja seemed like an interesting prospect…hey at least he hasn’t slept with his biological sister like some other free agents out there.

Wasn't Icognito

a UFA before he signed with the ‘Fins like Lilja is/was before he hooked up with the Chiefs? Anyways, both guys would’ve been interesting (but unrealistic) prospects this Free Agency period.

It sounds like Lilja might've had a hard time cracking our starting line-up

We really need to sign a free agent safety. Like Otogwe – so we can use our third rounder on the best guard or tackle available… Are there any other good FA safeties available?

Not really

Atogwe is way above anyone else available
Darren Sharper is probably going to resign with the saints and he is too old.

I think we're done

We spent all of our FA piggy bank
