Plex - a Training Facility In Houston - Is Working Me OUT - @Kevin_Payne
Training, training, training, and more training...
...That's what the last three weeks of my offseason has been full of.
My trainer's got me going through some extreme workouts - it's very intense. I'm doing a lot of weight lifting, plyowmetrics, working on my speed and quickness, and running and biking. And after I survive one of these workouts, you better believe that I'm gonna be nappin' real hard during the afternoon!
Everyone who takes on a training program likes to see results, and I'm happy to say that I can easily recognize that my hard work is paying off. It's just crazy how fit I feel! But, despite my discipline in the gym, I gotta admit that Houston's great seafood is gettin' me in a bit of trouble. Actually, I think I'm enjoying it a liiiiitle bit too often - Haha!

And don’t enjoy the shrimp and crab cakes too much.

shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it.

And my favorite...
the “Larry, Moe and Shrimp”. That’s where you first paintbrush your tongue with horseradish, pop a grilled shrimp, and get smacked over the head with the skillet by a guy in a bowl haircut. It kicks my butt.

Checked out their website.
Impressive client list. Curious as to what your daily meal plan looks like and your calorie intake, and the amount of calories you burn in a typical workout day.
Plyo rocks!

Thanks for the interesting read
I looked at the plex web-site too, pretty cool. I’ve heard some interesting stuff about plyowmetrics before. I know there are some people who think it causes more frequent injuries in players. Lots of players use it too rehab from injuries. Guess everybody has to figure out what is right for them.
Glad you like it and are excited to get back to football. The client list shows some other Bears there too. Tillman, Knox, Harris, Peppers. Hope Tommie is as enthusiastic about his training as you seem to be.
Houston is an easy city to have fun in and I’m sure the food is great. If at all possible, please keep Marcus Harrison away from the restaurants as much as possible.
Thanks for the update, can’t wait to see you guys in uniform again.
And I thought Plex was just a cool robot

It's the fish flops for you.

A picture that makes as much sense as you post on this thread.

question for kp
just a random thought, what is your max bench press? also, who do you think (or know) is currently the strongest Bear on the roster? or even just the secondary; my money is on either you or #38. always good to read about Bears hitting it hard during the offseason.

Not relating to this post, but I’ve read that every year, Virginia McCaskey addresses the Bears’ rookies personally in a meeting that she won’t let her sons attend. Is this true, and what does she say? Though I bet those present are sworn to secrecy…..

How do you all feel about filling a rotation in at Strong Safety, unless you’re a Corner Back, at which point, after this meeting, please proceed directly to the WR training room

I kind of wanna know,
and I don’t know if it’s been asked before, but…
What’s Lovie like behind the scenes? He gets a bad rap around here for resembling a emotionless cyborg from the planet Melmac 8, but does he ever get fired up in the locker rooms? Seriously, tell us, has he ever thrown a chair at an ex-quarterback who I won’t call out by name?

No but....
He and Tommie Harris once had a three legged race to the hospital to have Lovie’s foot removed from Tommie’s butt!! Then Lovie went into a coma for 2 weeks to recover from his “emotional outburst” and Tommie went back into his coma called the 2007-2009 seasons….
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
i hope the thrown object was at
the not-so-mighty quinn. you are probably referring to sex cannon but hooboy that quinn guy back in 04…looked like one of us lazy fans out there trying to play. by that i mean TERRIBLE.
i would love to hear lovie curse, just one time.

speaking of offseason workouts
I thought Ross Tucker’s last article on cnnsi about OTAs potentially interfering with the type of work KP and others are doing at Plex (and elsewhere) to get prepared for the next season was pretty interesting.
