"Now the top suitor for his services this season, the Chicago Bears, will look to get first crack at the 34 year old safety as Sharper has made the trip to Chicago to sit and talk with the franchise and it’s head coach Lovie Smith."

OMG

I dont care how old he is.. GIVE THAT MAN A UNIFORM!

GO BEARS!!!!

I like it

He’d be a great couple year stop gap til a young stud FS could be found

Holy Snickies

I’d be lying if said I’m not surprised by this. It’s hard to believe the Bears are his first stop; hopefully, this time around they won’t let him leave HH without a contract.

This is ridiculous...

They didn’t want him last year… or the year before that…because he was too old, and likes to “freelance,” and Lovie was happy with the crappy safeties he drafted.

Now… Lovie’s unhappy cause he realized the safeties he handpicked stink… and Sharper is 34. I swear… they’re all idiots in HH.

Did they not learn a darn thing from signing old Orlando Pace?

I'm pretty sure

Sharper turned us down last year not the other way around.

I bet

he’ll turn us down this year as well.

It's almost like Lovie is doing him a favor

by bringing in him for a visit. Helping him increase his value by garnering extra attention.

This would be a perfect stopgap move

And maybe Sharper’s instincts would let Marinelli move us out of Cover2 more often. Please, less cover 2, please.

I'd prefer ....

…… Antrel Rolle but Sharper would at least give us some much needed help at the safety position .

by MidWayMonster54 on Mar 2, 2010 4:50 PM CST reply actions

I'd rather have Rolle

Sharper is more of a stop gap guy and Rolle would be better in the long run.

by DaHamsta on Mar 2, 2010 4:54 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Sounds like he's

trying to drive up his own value and will end up back with the Saints. Williams refers to him as a “lurker”. Is that like a “rover”? Is Rolle a lurker? Rolle over rover? Is it it time for my pill?

eh...

rather have rolle.

but sharper can be a good stopgap if we don’t get rolle.

by Nih1lus on Mar 2, 2010 5:18 PM CST reply actions

im just a little surprised

he’s coming here if he wants to play for a contender and win a championship. lol.

by Nih1lus on Mar 2, 2010 5:19 PM CST up reply actions

If we could land Sharper

that would be great news. He would provide the playmaking safety we desperately need. However, I do think Antrel Rolle might be a little better for the long term. 34 vs. 27. Rolle just entering him prime while Sharper is a little over the hill (surprised at how well he played last year though).

by Sabonis4MVP on Mar 2, 2010 5:21 PM CST reply actions

I say throw some money his way and NOT let him leave Chicago. Get some of the pressure off the line; make QB’s have to account for him. His instincts and experience would give the back ups a chance to learn throughout the off season and into the2010 season. And yes, allowing more of a change up within the cover2 shell would be nice.(example Indy) What we need is a Mike Brown ver. 2.0 (injury free). But is he at least close to that in leadership, heart and “motor”. He’s is probably playing a money game w/ the saints and a mind game w/ bear fans………

by John Reynolds on Mar 2, 2010 6:37 PM CST reply actions

Sharper is just shopping...

so he can see what to squeeze out of New Orleans.
Rolle sounds like a better idea.
Personally I want Jermaine Phillips from Tampa
We can afford him and he’s a Tampa 2 cover guy
he was on IR with a broken thumb last year

by Berserker333 on Mar 2, 2010 7:00 PM CST reply actions

I'd like to have him

I would imagine he would provide a cost effective way to “stop gap” until a young guy comes in. Rolle would be great to have but I think he’d be demanding a longer more lucrative contract than Sharper. Or maybe I’m completely off based. Either way, talented guys in the secondary is mandatory at this point

You're being very Un-Dude right now.

too old

but he’d be a great mentor to Chancellor

Can we meet w/ him before Thursday?

Isn’t that tampering? Maybe it isn’t I don’t know. i didn’t realize he was 34!! Man, I’d rather have Rolle, he’s younger.
