i hope sex cannon does great in DC. except if he is starting against the bears in soldier field this year. then i hope to see more of his deer-in-headlights act when the pass rush is on him.
barefoot running and five fingers shoes
You’re right, it does not look comfortable, and in fact looks like a good way to get blisters between your toes. The barefoot running story makes the rounds every 4-5 years or so, and for most runners it is a good way to jack yourself up severely. There are a lot of variables ranging from the terrain you run in, to the miles per week you run, to whether or not you pronate or supinate, or are a neutral runner. As an elite runner in my age group, I’d say if you aren’t having any problems now, then forget you ever read about barefoot running, or running in those 5 fingered shoes. If you are having problems, look to other sources for your problems ranging from trying to do too much too soon, to wearing cheap-ass running shoes. Lastly, some people just have bad knees and/or other structural problems and are are not meant to run long distances. It’s not politically correct, but true. Take up another activity that does not demand so much from your joints.

I'm not sure those finger toe shoes are for me...
I have joint problems, especially in my left toes, where it hurts to walk a lot of the time.. I can’t imagine trying to run in those. I have a hard enough time in most tennis shoes (although my Nike Shox really help most of the time). I tried running barefoot at a rugby practice once… did not work out…lol. So yeah, Im sure before someone spends $80 on them, they need to answer the questions you asked to make sure they won’t just mess them up…

The place where my wife bought hers,
has testing where they monitor you running on a treadmill. She thought that wearing them would be uncomfortable, but says that it’s actually the opposite and that she doesn’t notice anything between her toes. She also has said that since wearing them they’ve helped build up her arch support (or something like that) and that the arches in the other shoes are what causes a fair amount of the typical running injuries and knee problems. Again, this is all second hand speak, considering I run with Nike Free’s.

smudgers, there is always the exception that proves the rule
I don’t know what type of mileage your wife runs, or what her mile per hour pace is, or if she runs on unimproved mountain trails or paved, or if she typically runs in temps above 90 degrees, her age and experience, etc. – all of which are factors in what you put on your feet. Treadmill running is notoriously unreliable when it comes to testing anything out except for running on a treadmill. Those shoes may work for some, depending on the above and other factors, but I don’t know of any elite runners who wear them, at least here in NM where many Kenyan’s and other world class runners train because of the altitude above 5,000 feet. I would think they would be ok with low mileage, low miles per hour use though. Whatever works for you is the bottom line.

Yeah,
I don’t really care all that much.
I’m definitely not trying to advocate for HB, or anyone else, to go buy them. I’m just telling her what I know about the finger toes, is all. And my wife is not an “elite runner” or a “kenyan,” but she does run a lot (on pavement) and she loves them. That’s all I’m saying.

The finger toes!
My wife runs in those and she loves them. She says she can run faster and longer with ’em. Plus, wearing those actually help you avoid your typical running injuries that are caused by the cushion they put in running shoes.

Twitter for a reporter
breaking news is one thing, but for WCG it’s kind of redundant. Why go to a 3rd party when you can go directly to the source?

I agree
I was referring to a guy like Brad Biggs, or Jeff Dickerson. Someone whose job is actually to report sports/Bears news.

Finger Toes
Is that what is causing all the “Bigfoot” footprints? Sure looks like it based on the picture.
What's with the barefoot running product?
Is this, or is this not a football site? I ran the Chicago marathon, and tend to jog when I have a chance, but this seems odd to me. With that said, I wouldn’t run longer than a couple miles with the looks of those.
