Shawn Andrews? Should the Bears take a chance?

So the Eagles released guard Shawn Andrews. This is a guy with a story.

He was the eagles 2004 First round pick. He missed all but one game in his rookie campaign after breaking his leg in the season opener. Not exactly the best way to start a career. To compound matters, Andrews then took on a weight problem.

But the story gets better. Andrews then overcomes the weight issues and rebounds to become on of the best guards in the league, being selected for the Pro Bowl in 2006 and 2007, and being selected a first team All-Pro in 2006. He was even selected for the Eagles 75th anniversary team. High honors, indeed. And Shawn is only 27.

But Andrews has something of an offbeat personality and has had his commitment to the NFL questioned.

Mike Tice is an incredible line coach, and a great motivator. Given the way he was cut, and the question marks surrounding him, Shawn should come fairly cheap. So, given Andrews' talent level, should the Bears be looking into picking up this 27 year old gifted former All-Pro guard?
