Alex Brown for Seahawks Guard Sims Rumor is Hot!
According to PFT, there is talk that we could get guard Rob Sims from Seattle in exchange for Alex Brown. Sims is a RFA, and no longer fits in the Seahawks offense now that they are implementing a zone blocking scheme. He could fit well in a Martz offense, however, as he is known for pass blocking and for taking up lots of space on the line. Here's a link to an article about him I found over at FieldGulls, the SB Nation Seahawks blog : HERE.

Bears interested in Sims but Seahawks not interested in Brown – LINK

Well they dont want brown butttt
We would have to only give up a forth round pick.I say get it done nowwww
Yeah let's get rid of Brown
whose a solid DE with a great motor, a captain and leader in the locker room, and who has a great track record of staying healthy for a guy who gets injured every season, who has been flip flopped all over the line and can’t hold on to a starting job. This is sick. Bears make good moves in the off-season just to turn around and make dumbass decisions a few weeks later.

This would ....
…. fill our huge hole on the o-line and allow Frank to move back to right tackle , his natural position . Sims is a solid blocker and JA has done rather well getting proven o-linemen via trade and signing ( Minus Orlando Pace …. John Tait , Ruben Brown and Roberto Garza are proof of that ) . So while I love Alex Brown as long as we fill a hole along our o-line ( which we need most of all now that the D has been patched up ) and get some protection for Jay AB is expendable ( as much as its pains me to say it ) . Izzy will be as good as Brown and maybe Anderson could get some mojo back with Peppers on the other side . So while I hate to see him go as long as we plug a major hole on our team I’m OK with it .

I'd be more inclined
to offer up a 4th round pick for him and keep Brown then to straight up trade him. I’m a believer in team chemistry and would hate for us to lose both of our previous starting DEs who were big forces in the locker room; Ogun I can live with but Brown is really upsetting to me. We could really use a big LG and I am all for getting one but is this guy the right one? He is very injury prone. I’m torn.

I do agree with you ....
…. about team chemistry and also about losing Brown , but we need to improve our team and AB ain’t worth 5 mill a season . I mean if we’re serious about this guy and don’t really want to move AB we could sign Sims to an offer sheet and only have to give up a 4th round pick to get him and be able to keep AB . But in a year with no cap penalties for cutting / trading players you gotta look at how much AB makes and how much he produces . We pay him 1 million per sack on average . So his value is as a consistant player and consistant player don’t make 5 million a season .

I think what some of us ...
… are trying to say is that while he play is not special Alex Brown is a special part of this team . He is a locker room leader , a great example of a pro to younger players , a teacher for some of the younger guys and in general does all the dirty work most players refuse to do . So while his numbers will never show it he is a special player for our team .

I understand that, but in the end
an infusion of talent is what the Bears need to compete. ABrown is an overachiever with a good motor, but he just is not that good and the Bears need better. If they can move him and get a starting LG, that is a deal they have to make.

I agree I just ....
…. hate to see such a great guy go . But if in the long run we make our team stronger its worth it . I’d always hoped he’d retire a Bear .
