No Surprises Yet as Bears Tender Offers to RFAs
As reported by Brad Biggs and Vaughn McClure, the Bears have started offering tenders to many of their Restricted Free Agents. Mark Anderson and Nick Roach were tendered at a level that would bring 2nd round picks. Danieal Manning, Jamar Williams and Josh Bullocks were all tendered to bring a pick equal to their original draft round.
Also from Biggs/ McClure:
The club also submitted one-year tenders to three exclusive-rights free agents: linebacker Tim Shaw, defensive tackle Matt Toeaina and running back Kahlil Bell.
Also, here are a couple of handy links to help you navigate through all of the Free Agency lingo:
Free Agency officially begins at 11pm CT tomorrow night, and we will be having a FA Free-for-all Open Thread starting tomorrow afternoon. WCG will be providing live updates well into the night tomorrow, so make sure you stop by and jump in... it's gonna be a wild one!

I saw Biggs say Manning got a 3rd round
But yeah no surprises. I don’t think any one will give Mark Anderson a look for a 2nd rounder despite what some media is reporting.
manning may attract offers with 3rd round price tag though....
Do or do not there is not try-Master Yoda
That is possible
As long as some team thinks they have a true position for him.

I think that is mainly due to...
his ability to return kicks. We have Knox as a backup to Hester if needed. We don’t need him imo. In this case I would like another third. That is saying alot with JA behind the scenes on draft day.

I would be all for getting rid of manning
make the experiments STOP. let the guy play somewhere in one position.

It would be a dream if we got a 3rd for Manning
All he’s shown talent for is kick returns. That’s not really an area of weakness for us. Returner seems to be a plug and play position for us, Toub makes almost anyone we stick back there look good. Manning is athletic but that hasn’t translated under our defensive coaches.
Another 3rd rounder in this years draft would be huge.

I want to see more of the big lad from preseason. Was it Lance Louis or Melton? Immense.

It's safe to say Nick Roach isn't going anywhere. LOL, BWAH, HA. HA!
A 2nd rounder for an undrafted free agent from Northwestern… who only got starting snaps because the 1st string (Urlacher) and 2nd string (HH) MLBs got hurt. HA HA!
Genius I tell you. GENIUS!
The Bears are so desperate for draft pick compensation, that their next move is to franchise tag Garrett Wolfe.

Dane....
Manning anb Bullocks will both be 3rd round compensation, as Anderson and Roach were tagged for the 2nd round compensations…..
From ChicagoBears.com
The other three restricted free agents were tendered at a level where the compensation would be equal to the round they were drafted in. Williams, a fourth-round choice in 2006, would bring a fourth-round selection.
But Manning and Bullocks, who both entered the NFL as second-round picks, would bring third-round selections as compensation because the Bears put second-round tenders on Anderson and Roach.
hope that helps…..

Thanks Train...
That is what happens when the original news source edits their work, and we aren’t around to make the changes ourselves.
On a lighter note, it has happened the other way too. We’ve done some statistical analyses on different things, been quoted by other websites, then edited our own work. Then we get the nasty emails telling us how we made them look bad.
The joys of research, editing, and citation. :)
Been there, done that....
while working at my former site. That’s why I gave the heads up. I know the way it works. :)
The internet moves so fast, there’s no way to be on top of everything without lots of eyes (and a bunch of screens)

NFL network is predicting the Bears will be major players in free agency.
I hope to gawd they’re right. This team needs something to feel optimistic about other than the enigma that is Jay Cutler.
