The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

Chuck Norris once met Dick Butkus and had a very odd feeling come over him. Chuck later realized it was fear

If only...

they weren’t both made of glass.

by Bearsguy34 on Mar 31, 2010 11:38 AM CDT reply actions

sad thing is...it could happen

it’s a long shot but if vasher wins the starting job in SD and Grossman wins the starting job in Washington…Who knows what could happen

if that happens

mccaskey should fire lovie and jerry, even if they win the superbowl.

This is just the paranoia of bears fans

We see Benson do well, or Berrian playing for a good team in Minnesota and all we think is that when players leave here they get better. Sometimes that is true, but other players have resurrected their careers here (Thomas Jones), its just the nature of the NFL that some players will get better with a change of scenery.

No

They’re going to make it because Grossman’s going to throw for 3900 yards and 30 touchdowns, and Vasher’s going to have 7 picks, 2 returned for touchdowns, and 3 forced fumbles.

Haven’t you heard? Every player who ever leaves here goes somewhere and is really good, and we’re fools for getting rid of them.

Vasher could make the Pro Bowl

I will jam my head up my ass if Sexy Rexy does well enough to make it [without being an alternate]

Yeah right

As far as Rex is concerned he’ll probably be murdered behind the Redskins O-Line and it’s a safe bet that Shanahan will draft a QB so Rex’s “starter” career will be short-lived if he does win the battle. He lost out to Orton and I don’t think he’s that much better than Campbell. And Vasher was a victim of injuries and a great D-Line. The Chargers don’t exactly have an elite defense but he has a better chance of having a better year then Rex. In the end it doesn’t matter if Rex or Vasher have great seasons because Rex had his chance and Jay Cutler is way better than Rex will ever be. And as for Vasher, no need to get upset if he has a bounce back year because he had his chances to get back to his Pro Bowl level and he failed miserably. Either way we all know Lovie and Jerry will be gone next year so it doesn’t matter in the end

Personally,

I think Grossman has an excellent shot with the Rexskins®. The Shanahan’s (father and son) have done wonders with quarterbacks. Cutler, a gunslinger who has a big arm but is prone to big mistakes (sound familiar?), thrived in the Denver offense under Mike. I can see Grossman having somewhat similar success, if given the chance.

Yeah but

It doesn’t matter who’s coaching you. A good O-Line is vital and that’s what Shanahan HAD in Denver and what he doesn’t have in Washington. Everyone knows that Shanahan will probably draft his QB of the future so while i’m not saying Rex can’t have a good season witht the Skins, he will not be a long-term starter. And who’s to say that if given the chance, Campbell wouldn’t also thrive with those same coaches. Campbell has been screwed around year after year with having to learn different systems, having an ok O-Line and one good receiver. Who’s to say that he can’t be molded into a Shanahan QB? Rex is ok but highly overrated by a lot of people.

by frenchbears113 on Mar 31, 2010 6:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Do the "what ifs"

only apply to the players you want them to? I’m not saying that Rex will be great, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he became a decent NFL quarterback with the right coaching and given the proper chance.

Also, how do you know that he’s going to “draft his QB of the future” and that Rex “will not be a long-term starter?” Maybe it’s because I don’t follow the Skins all that much but how are you so privy to such insider information?

And Shanahan has the ability to change a team with a single draft (see Broncos, 2006).

first of all relax

second all history has shown us that when needed, Shanahan has drafted a QB. He brought in Grossman as a stop-gap. Im not saying he can’t be decent but let’s be real, Shanahan is going to want a guy to develop himself, like he did with Cutler and with Griese. That is not claiming to have insider information nor sounding condescending. So far the Skins have only brought in QB’s to private workouts. Sorry you still hang on to the days of Rex Grossman mate but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking that Rex was brought in to be the guy. I wish him luck but since he is no longer involved in Beardom I really don’t care. So relax mate

Campbell isn't overrated at all

He pretty much just sucks.

by Acreman20 on Mar 31, 2010 8:37 PM CDT up reply actions

True

I just looked at his stats and he’s improved his completion %, yards, td’s, and QB rating every year he’s been in the league. Statistically, he had a year pretty comparable if not a little better than Cutler last year. Saying he sucks might be a little harsh, but he is a former Auburn Tiger so………. he pretty much just sucks. :)
