Looking Back on the 2005 Bears
Earlier, ifuwannacrownem posted that the Bears are on Hulu. This allows you to watch season recaps as well as individual games that were labeled "game of the week". The game I chose to watch was from week 7, 2005. It was a divisional game between the Lions and Bear where Peanut won it for us with an overtime pick six. Here are some observations from the game as they pertain to today:
- I have always been a Tommie Harris supporter, but that may have changed based upon watching this. While the booth reviewed a possible Hunter Hillenmeyer fumble recovery for a touchdown, Alfonso Boone was discussing the play with Tommie. Tommie's exact words, on film, were "I don't even care. I'm ready to go home." That is the most blatant example of piss poor competitiveness I have ever heard. And this was when he was still a pro-bowler! I keep trying to tell myself that he didn't really mean it, or some nonsense like that. But there is no way around it. In a tough, physical game, Tommie just wasn't mentally there anymore.
- Thomas Jones was the obvious sideline leader. I think looking at today, thats what our offense is lacking. Perhaps Chester Taylor can step into that, and rally the troops when necessary. But, I think Jay has proved that it is a role that he is uncomfortable with. I guess as long as he makes the throws, we can count on someone else to do the yelling.
- Bobby Wade was an absolutely horrific return man.
- I don't know why we ever got rid of Chris Harris. He could hit hard and played fast. He is exactly what we need now at the safety position.
- Finally, it was incredible to watch how dominant our D was. Hopefully, we can get back to that point this year.

Nice write up...
I agree for the most part. IMO, Tommie Harris is a total joke! He’s a gutless jerk who’s just collecting a paycheck. The loss of Chris Harris DID hurt the defense. He’s not an all-world safety, but he’s smart and tough and knows his position, basically he’s everything that Manning lacks. I do miss TJ and his “runnin’ angry” attitude; he’s a bit too intense at times, but he gives his all and he’s a solid guy. So, if the Bears can now replace T Harris, C Harris, and N Vasher, the defense might just be good again.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
Hopefully Peppers makes Tommie better
But one thing he wont do is make him want it more. Maybe we can replace C Harris in the draft. But Bowman certainly isnt on the level Vasher used to be.
I was thinking the same thing about Harris
He shouldn’t need someone to motivate his play especially with all the money he’s making, but I think Peppers rubs off on Tommie and he has his best year in the NFL. Of course, if he stays healthy which is a pretty big if.
Walter Payton lives on!!!
and he sucks
not only is Tommie Harris a bad person/teammate, he’s not even good anymore. Plus, he’s way overpaid.
Regardless of $, I think he’s the worst DT on our team. Yes, he was good for a couple years, but he’s always been overrated. He ignores the run, and jumps offside all the time.
Chirs Harris and Thomas Jones were Bears players that you could be proud of. Tommie has never been that.

I still think he has a break out season with Peppers on the line. He is over paid and over rated, so its time to earn some of that paycheck. Right with ya on the CH and TJ statement, proud of both.
Walter Payton lives on!!!
Those are the type of players the Bears need to get to fill out this roster
Motivators and hard workers
