Thanks for the plug, Dane
Yeah… I’m putting together a story about my own personal experience of the NFL Draft. You know — kind of a blow by blow account of what it was like sitting on the couch, watching the draft, being a nervous wreck, and freakin out when my agent called and told me the Bears were frantically trying to call my house, but NO ONE WAS ANSWERING THE PHONE.
I’ll getcha the first part of the story tomorrow…

manning
While it looks like the Bears may have painted themselves in a corner (pun?) regarding Manning, there is still the strong possibility that they might strengthen their hand via the draft. I’m hoping for lightning to strike in our favor.

Josh McNown would be a solid back up QB

just getting ready to say that myself
McCown – (don’t want to confuse with a certain Cade McNown)
Think Bulger either thinks too highly of himself or maybe he is still valued somewhere as a starter but he knows not in Chicago
If McCown learned so well he got on the field as a WR, I say give him a go as backup, plus he should be relatively cheap.
Heck at 6’4" he will be a giant compared to our other WRs

at least for s’mores. :]

Just heard on SC that McNabb is lobbying for TO to come to the Skins.
I know we don’t really want him , but what do you think of the Skins now if we have to play them with McNabb and possibly TO?
Just call me Mr. 3000.
I think they implode at some point
Just like every other place he’s been, some places sooner (Buffalo) than later (Philly)

Shanahan
Didn’t Shanahan want TO a few years ago while he was still in Denver?

I'm sure at some time they will implode but you wonder
how much success can they have with eachother before TO’s ego takes over? I still think we beat the brakes off the Skins but the TO factor is also good fodder to throw out.
Prediction
Bears 72- Skins 0

Biggs just put out this list of all players the Bears had workouts or visits with:
Might give at least a little insight into who they’re interested in: Link
"I was interviewing George Halas and I asked him who is the greatest running back you ever saw. And he said, 'That would be Red Grange.' And I asked him if Grange was playing today, how many yards do you think he'd gain. And he said, 'About 750, maybe 800 yards.' And I said, 'Well, 800 yards is just okay.' He sat up in his chair and he said, 'Son, you must remember one thing. Red Grange is 75 years old.' - Chris Berman

hanie
dont know why the bears are looking at a veteran QB??? the only way your going to find out about hanie is by playing him in event cutler goes down.. then its do or die.. i do however understand that a former QB that knows the martz system would be good but only at an affordable salary.. where is kitna anyway? is he available?
Hanie has played
in the regs during garbage time and that is exactly what he looked like while doing it..garbage. Signing a vet, especially one with experience in Martz system is a very good idea.

Goodell says there will only be divisional games in week 17
Which 1) is kind of dumb because some teams (Colts, Saints) will already have everything wrapped up by then and have homefield clinched so they still have nothing to play for which is what the whole thing is supposed to stop and 2) I think that means the Bears will face the Lions again in wk 17. The NFL knows that most likely the Vikes and Pack will have more on the line for the playoffs than the Bears so those 2 will face. But then again I could see the Bears and Pack getting a week 17 game because of the rivalry (I hope it works out this way).

I wouldn't assume we'll play the Lions week 17
we did that last season and I’m sure they don’t schedule the divisional games due to who they believe will have the better records and be at the top of the division. They can’t predict the future. I don’t care who we play week 17 because if we need a victory for the playoffs we can snatch it from anyone. If people do have the division wrapped up they will still rest their starters if they want to, like you said, but I do agree that some teams might think to not do that against a division foe because of the rivalry between the teams.

They will probably have the teams that the NFL expects to be the good teams in their division going at it during week 17.
Like… having the Jets and the Patriots play each other in the final game.

Another article from Chicago Breaking Sports today...
In which Delhomme makes a good point about Peppers – not only will he improve the D, but he should improve the offensive tackles as well through working against them in practice.
