I saw this on the Panthers board. Their tribute to CH.

Check out the 52 sec mark. I would really like to know how many snot bubbles he has caused in his career. And the hit on Cadillac Williams just doesnt seem humanly possible with the angle he hit him on. Great stuff..

Another Deep Breath Here

A good safety but not the “second coming” of Doug Plank. The Panthers where willing to give him up for what? … our 5th or 6th LB. Seeing as he’s been the property of Carolina for the past Three Years and they see him just about every day, … I think they have a Much, Much, better idea of where he IS in his game than us self professed wannabie experts hope he IS. He is definately an up grade over what we have, … but if you have been eating ToFu Burgers for the last few years, a jucy Big Mac seems like a slice of heaven.
However and unfortunately, a slice of Pro-Bowl Prime Rib did not land on our plate.
A Deep Breath here and all we can hope for is some robust competition and to come out of camp with two “Serviceable” starting safetys. Go Bears!!

by pete banachi on Apr 29, 2010 12:11 AM CDT reply actions

I don't know pete

I respect your observations but I heard the same kind of comments made about Darren Sharper when he left the Vikings and joined a certain SB winning team in the big Lou…now granted that team had/has a way better DC and while I respect Marinelli as a position coach, who knows what we’ll get from Rod this year.

That being said, Harris is way younger than Sharper before his explosive 09 campaign (and a year younger than Atogwe for that matter) so I’m not going to take a deep breath yet.

And I think his play is more than “serviceable” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCAc4oA_myE I cry when I watch the 1:03 mark and the possibility he might do that against AP

Regardless, thank you for your military service Mr. banachi

OK no deep breath yet, but don’t you go and start panting on him just yet either!! LOL!!

heard today on 1000

carolina thought there may be some limitations due to possible knee issues.

all i know is i was furious when they traded him, and the safey position has literally blown goats ever since.

I'm pretty sure the safety depth chart in its entirety

is going to be astonished to find out they have literally been blowing goats for the past 3 years.

by mike b on May 3, 2010 2:09 AM CDT up reply actions

Kinda an unfair observation....

The reason Harris was expendable was his skill set. Carolina is moving away from the hard hitting safeties and towards the speedy side of things. Now, of the best safeties inthe league over the past few years, how many of them are considered speed demons? Sharper? Sanders? Atogwe? Wilson? Merriweather? Polamalu? Griffin? Reed? Who among these are speed demons? Carolina is moving to the cover who, and they seem to believe that speed matters most in a cover who safety. Funny, because I’d take Bob Sanders as the best cover who safety in the league, and he ain’t exactly breaking speed records.

Assuming that a team with more roster issues than we have is making smart personnel choices is just baffling, brother. I’d almost say that if the player is productive, and Carolina doesn’t want him, then it’s a good sign he should do well over the next few years.

Spot on T-Train

Let’s not forget that Mr. Harris is only 27 years old…and is among one of the youngest talented safeties you mentioned up there in your list. Even Mike Brown lasted a whole season and was productive with the Chiefs at the age of 32 at Strong Safety.
