Lance Briggs Replaces Brian Cushing on All-Pro Team
As announced previously in this space, XFINITY from Comcast has generously agreed to support the best NFL community around -- us! As part of that effort, between now and the end of the 2010 NFL season XFINITY will be sponsoring a variety of special editorial and interactive features on our site.
Regardless of what your opinions are on the Brian Cushing situation, it is definitely a point for the good guys having Lance Briggs replace him on the All-Pro Team. Lance Briggs, since entering the league, has been the definition of of an All-Pro, both on and off the field.
Some of his football-related highlights:
2005, 2006, 2009 All-Pro selection
2005-2009 Pro Bowl selection
Briggs also runs Briggs4Kidz...from his website:
Briggs4Kidz is a non-profit organization that raises funds to help alleviate the emotional and financial struggles of todays poverty stricken youth. To help the less fortunate who reside in the Chicago community, our goal is to raise awareness and funding in order to reach out in a positive way. We believe children are our future and we hold the building blocks to a better tomorrow.
Make sure you check out his website for more information regarding the foundation.
Congratulations Lance... We're looking forward to another All-Pro year in 2010!

Does Briggs have an incentive in his contract regarding making All Pro?
If so, this will definitely PO McCaskey.

Until the NFL starts requiring HGH tests, I beg to differ.
I think there’s a pretty good chance that lots of players are on HGH. Of course, for recuperative purposes only… just like the Panthers Super Bowl team a few years back were on ’roids.

I'm guessing that you mean that as a moral tenet...
Like something that I can tell my kids someday. Unfortunately, the list of successful athletes who have just taken the flaxseed oil that their trainer gave them cheated is growing every year. Maybe the NFL should come out with a “Natural Athlete of the Year” award to counter the perception that, as someone on this site so eloquently put it, they’re not all gooned on the juice.
Tell that to
Bill “I video record the other team’s practices” Belichick
score one for the good guys indeed
go Lance!
i wanna know
why Cushing was chosen over Lance anyway?
Cushing did it in one year
Lance has done it every year of his career
No linebacker in the league is as consistantly good as Lance Briggs.
He puts up pro bowl numbers year in and year out

sure as hell seems like it
Except Warren Sapp last night on the NFLN gave us some love by saying Mike Martz will have the most success out of any new OC this year. Even over CHarlie Weiss. So take that for what it’s worth i guess

Everyone tends to hate (or fear) that which they cannot understand.
No one can understand the history and majesty that is the Chicago Bears. We are the oldest, most successful, most storied franchise in all of football. More hall of fame players than any other team, the most wins in NFL history, and arguably THE biggest “name” in George Halas as our owner/NFL founder (sorry Smudgers but it is what it is). That’s why they hate the Bears. And I love their hate…. revel in it…..
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
*sigh
not you too.

Cushing was the new girl in town.
Maybe the voters were unable to resist the pheromonal lure of his fertility drugs.
it had to be the hair

Lance Briggs has been the best player on this team for years now
If Urlacher blew up blockers the way Briggs does on an every Sunday basis. Their would be no discussion, on who the best MLB in the league was.
In the dreaded Bengal’s game last year, their was one Bear that noticeably wasn’t giving up. That was Briggs.
If the offensive play is in his direction, Briggs gets the job done!
I’m glad he received this award, even though it should’ve been his to begin with. Brian Cushing?… Paaaa LEASE!!!!! Don’t get me wrong. Cushing has a bright future. But he isn’t in the same category as Lance “I’ll knock your F-N head off” Briggs.
