You have outdone yourself.

Again.

I Love It!

Funny thing is that if the Bears Defense does well, Lovie emerges himself from beneath the podium to take all the credit.

But does Lovies hand emerge from....

And if it does, does that wipe that smirk off Rod’s face?

I agree ....

But I love the picture!

Honestly

I think Rod is too stubborn to let Lovie run him.
Rod has already stated (no i don’t have a reference but i heard him say it, could have been radio or tv don’t remember) that he wanted to change a few small things
Like he wants to get bigger on the Dline. He’s done that by getting rid of Ogun and Brown and getting Peppers and Wootton.

About time. I’m tired of seeing our defensive line getting pushed around.

That is too much

Did this have anything thing to do with the Rosemead High discussion?

by TheMan1 on May 19, 2010 11:14 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

LOL

Not really about the Rosemead discussion. It’s actually one I’ve been wanting to do for a while, the timing was just there for it now.

I highly doubt it will be like this....

Where did all the Lovie wants puppets come from anyway? Any Articles? Exact Quotes? Video evidence? Or did people just ASSume that was the case? Links would be appreciated! (If they exist)

There's no proof.

It all comes from the fact Lovie has faith in his system and refuses to change. Other than that no proof..

As I've stated before:
And for the record, I don’t advocate everything I photoshop. I generally get my ideas from the comments on this board. Without you guys…

If you search WCG for “puppet” (link), you’ll get a return of 79 comments with the majority of them based on this issue. That’s where the idea for this ’shop originated.

I wasnt talking about the photoshop lol

I was just curious as to where the Lovie wants People he can control talk came from in general….although it is kinda creepy how you have him peeking over the podium

Pretty sure no coach ever has said I want puppets not coaches

Fine if you can't look it up

OK Lovie believes in Tampa 2 (can we agree on that one?)

The Ron Rivera firing, rumors galore but some would lean towards Rivera’s wanting to mix up the standard Tampa 2 scheme.

“You want someone with a similar philosophy. We defend our defense a lot as far as the scheme. A lot is being placed on the scheme, the scheme.
"I think you have to stay with what you believe on how you want to win football games. That’s what we are going to do.

Add in his presser when he defended “his scheme” over and over and stated anyone coming here will run his scheme. There are many more but I am not going to spend all day looking them up.

Now as I stated before, no coach is going to state “I want puppets”. So lets look behind at what lies beneath.

The Bears did not appear to look very hard when searching for a DC this off season. What interview Fewell, what else? So that would seem to state, Lovie either:
   a) Thought no one was available in the whole entire world capable of doing the DC job for the Bears in 2010 enough to even warrant an interview
   b) Thought Marinelli can bring a lot of new ideas to the Tampa 2 scheme
   c) Thought my scheme is soooo good, anyone can run it

So since Marinelli has never created a D scheme or even held a DC job other than his first year coaching high school at Rosemead (Thanks Smudgers for that info), that would lead me to believe that c is the choice.

So believe what you want but call me crazy for believing a D line coach might be following the leader this year rather than thinking a first time DC serving in a job many claim he did not even want, will be creating some new mastermind D scheme and going against his friend who gave him a job.

C'mon EmmCeee!

Like TheMan1 implies, these type of issues are always murky. Unless you’re a complete idiot you won’t give "exact quotes, etc." that reveal such selfish, petulant behavior. Instead you’ve got to look for clues.

For example: Lovie’s release of Ron Rivera after a very successful season for the defense. The word on this was that Rivera wanted to add some wrinkles to the base 4-3 & cover-2 while Lovie preferred the straight vanilla version. There also appeared to be a disagreement about who should be playing right DE-Rivera favored Alex Brown while Lovie preferred Mark Anderson.

While it’s difficult to prove, there’s enough smoke to suggest that Lovie definitely has a "it’s got to be my way or the highway" side to him. If this is the case, than he selfishly deprived both himself and the Bears of an outstanding DC who’s now doing some good things for the Chargers.

This is nothing more than bad coaching & bad management of a staff! When you hire a DC give him standards & objectives and then step back and let him do his thing. Then, if it’s working, leave it alone.

by nosmo343 on May 20, 2010 10:52 AM CDT up reply actions

Doesn't every coach?

It would be safe to assume that Defensive minded HC’s generally hire DC’s who run their particular system and have some sort of input in what happens on that side of the ball.Im sure that’s not all that uncommon on any level of football.

If Lovie does indeed have a “My Way or The Highway” side to him then it wouldnt be that far fetched to think he was controlling things while Rivera was here also…If that’s the case then the success of the defense would be just as much his as it would be Rivera’s. Add to that the fact Rivera hasn’t done anything exceptional in San Diego and its easier for me to believe he was being a puppet too….

People can’t have their cake and eat it too lol Blame Lovie for everything and give him credit for nothing..Im not as hard on him as most people are because the past 2 seasons the Bears have had the chance to go to the playoffs and they didnt win the games they had to win…..PERIOD. He didnt make em blow coverages, didnt make Mannelly try a fake punt, Forte fumble, or Cutler throw 26 picks. That’s on the players. This year is different. We have Coaches in place and all the pieces we need to make some noise and if we dont changes are gonna be made at the end of the year….Im probably in the minority but id rather the Bears win this year and go to the playoffs than lose and get a new coaching staff who Bear fans will bash after they dont get us to a Super Bowl a cpl years after being hired lol

Thanks, but it's actually a Sesame Street reference.

He used to always yell at Ernie for getting crumbs in the bed. That’s where the Family Guy scene came from.

This is wrong on soooo many levels.

But hilarious none the less.

Are you trying to imply that Mr. Smith may have too much influence on the defensive schemes employed by the defense “run” my Mr. Marinelli? Is that what you are implying?

You sir, are a genius.

by Suffering from Chicago Sports on May 20, 2010 12:33 PM CDT reply actions

Amazing

I just can’t believe you guys actually want Marinelli making his own decisions. Ask us Lion’s fans how that turned out.
