The Match Game

via       Match_game_medium

Since new news is at a premium this time of year, I wanted to mix it up with a different type of post.  So, here it goes....

There's nothing better than enjoying a couple of our favorite things together.  Beer and potato chips?  No.  Beer and pretzels?  No.  Beer and women (men, depending on your flavor)?  No, but they're right there!  The Bears and music.  Yes!  Us Bear fans are just as passionate as any other fanbase out there; combine that with some of our favorite tunes and we have a match made in heaven.  This isn't a contest, but feel free to join in the act.  I've been thinking about doing something like this for quite awhile, but time restraints (doesn't everyone blame everything on the clock?) have prevented me from starting and/or finishing.  Please follow me after the jump to see my cool or possibly lame matches.

Woody Turenne and "Almost Cut My Hair" - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It's gettin kinda long
I could have said it was in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone

Seemed like a natural fit because Woody has some seriously sweet hair, and I'm sure he's thought about cutting it quite often.

Olin Kreutz and "A Punchup At A Wedding" - Radiohead

I don't know why you bother
Nothing's ever good enough for you
(By the way) I was there
It wasn't like that
You've come here just to start a fight

The song really isn't about fighting.  More politically driven, but everyone knows Olin likes to fight.

Chris Harris and "Via Chicago" - Wilco

But the wind blew me back via Chicago
In the middle of the night
And all without fight
At the crush of veils and starlight

One of my favorite songs of all-time.  Pretty obvious fit here considering his homecoming.

Jay Cutler and "I Want Candy" - Bow Wow Wow

I want Candy, I want Candy

Did I really just type that?  I have a connection with Sizzle because I'm a type-1 diabetic just like him.  And if he's anything like me he craves candy and sugar.  No OJ for breakfast is hard not to do!

Julius Peppers and "Push It"- Salt N Pepper

Better make it fast or else I'm gonna get pissed
Can't you hear the music's pumpin' hard like I wish you would?

I'd imagine many DEs think of songs that motivate them to perform at their best.  How could this song not get you moving fast in order to crush your QB foe?

Robbie Gould and "Bling (Confessions of a King)" - The Killers

Higher and higher,
We're gonna take it,
Down to the wire,
We're gonna make it

It ain't hard to hold,
When it shines like gold,
You'll remember me.

This song was made for Solid.

Gaines Adams and "Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd

What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

I'd imagine everyone feels the same about his tragedy.

Lastly, I'd like to add a few others.  More Bears and some non-Bear players.

Tommie Harris and "Lord Knows" - 2Pac

I'm loosin hope, they got me stressin, can the Lord forgive me

Staley and "Battle Flag" - Lo Fidelity Allstars

Tell me is it time to get down on your muthaf***in' knees

Ocho Cinco and "Limelight" - Rush

All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers

Kevin Payne and "Friends Forever" - Old 97s

Hang in there friends forever
In memory far away

Cedric Benson and "Get Myself Arrested" - Gomez

Ben Roethlisberger and "Sex Machine" - James Brown

--my girlfriend said "eww" when mentioning this match, but it was too rich to pass up.

Alright, that concludes my first round for this blog.  I hope everyone enjoys some of my reaches!
