Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Roulette - Round 1

There has been a lot of discussion by myself, the rest of the staff, and you the readers about how good our wide receiver group is going to be. You've got people like me who have high hopes of seeing a top 8 group this year, and you have others who firmly believe we might be the worst in the league. I set out to do some research on our guys, their productivity both in the NFL, and in college, and how their skills would translate to the Martz offense when I ran into a problem.

I'm not sure if I, or anyone else, actually know who our wide receiver group is going to be this year. So I'm going to leave it up to all of you to whittle down our list of receivers to a more manageable seven receivers. It's safe to say that's the maximum we might carry in 2010. So the way this is going to work is simple, I'm going to give it a day or two, and then tally up the votes and drop the lowest, and dropping both in the event of a tie, rinse and repeat until we hopefully get what we're looking for. A legitimate threat out of our wide receivers.

Feel free to campaign for your favorite third stringer to get a few votes to keep them in the running below the fold.

Remember folks a vote for Eric Peterman...

is a vote for America. Eric Peterman is everything that is right about our fair nation, from apple pies, to apple cobbler, and maybe some apple dumplings.

You know what, I think I really want some apples.

This message was brought to you by the Vote for Peterman campaign.

Well you have to figure…..DA, Hester, and Knox, are locks……..Bennet, Juaquin, and Davis, will more then likely make the team…………In my mind that leaves Barnes and Peterman…….This is a tough pick….

Barnes....

Will make the team this year.

I see Barnes on the practice squad

In the 8th grade Mike Ditka won his school's Science Fair with a model of a working volcano. There were 17 other working volcano's made that day, but only one named Mount Ditka.

if by team you mean practice squad, I agree

Brandon Marshall ???

Arom will be a nice #2
Knox & Hester good and great slot guys
  Two points of veiw :
1. Get a #1
2. Don’t sell one of the top three to get him.

Marshall?

The same fella that was dealt to Miami?

Huh?

Freddie Barnes over Earl Bennett is absolutely ludicrous.

We all know ....

….. Hester , Knox , DA , Iglesias and Bennett are locks . More than likley Rashied Davis will stick due to his special teams usefulness . So that leaves Hall , Barnes , Peterman , Matthews and Robinson to fight it out for a roster spot and the practice squad . I’d like to see Barnes and Matthews stick out of that group .

Vincent Jackson.

Maybe we could package a trade involving Des Clark, Eric Peterman and Lovie’s son.

even though

i went with the easycake vote of DA, i would like to see iglesias get on the field this year. if nothing else than to prove to the fanbase that angelo isn’t continually whiffing on mid-round picks.

This list is suspect.

No Brandon Rideau or Derek Kinder? Shenanigans. I ain’t voting.

+1

But I think you forgot Haas.

by rdent4hof on Jun 30, 2010 8:23 AM CDT up reply actions

You have to vote.

Otherwise Vic Hall will beat out Rashied.

Shame on you, it's all about Peterman get on board.

If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.

Little bit of a change of plan...

I’m going to be taking the top vote getter and doing the write up for him, and at the same time dropping the lowest like a bad habit.

The poll is deceiving

We all know DA and Hester and Knox are gonna be there whether people want them to or not. You should just take them off.

by Chitownproduct on Jun 30, 2010 9:38 AM CDT reply actions

It's much more fun to see who people will vote for when given all the options...

And then to see who rises and who falls as options are taken away.

I was actually really surpised to see Johnny Knox score more votes than Devin Hester

Wasn’t expecting that at all. I voted for Iglesias myself because i would love for him to see the field this year so we can at least see what we got.

It really is laughable

He was our most consistent WR last year.

Considering it was a WCG Poll that placed Kevin Freakin’ Butler as a more popular Bear, than Doug Atkins AND Wilbur Marshall… That should tell you something.

by rdent4hof on Jun 30, 2010 12:01 PM CDT up reply actions

That was just insane. Butthead was OK, but Atkins is a HOF and Marshall played like a HOF for many years.

If Marshall hadn’t chased the money and broke up the linebacking corp he probably would make the HOF. He was greater when he played with Singletary and Wilson.

WR

My list is not much different because I don’t see any of the UnFAs making this team..just too deep of a position group. Considering the interest in Vincent Jackson, there wouldn’t be a spot open if we made that deal.

by walterfan34 on Jun 30, 2010 2:03 PM CDT reply actions

seriously

who voted for Robinson and Matthews… and more importantly who the hell are Robinson and Matthews?

Joke options? How many would have voted for Lester A. Wiltfong, Jr. if he’d been put on the list? :-D

Wow really surprised

That Aromashodu, who had a few good games last season, was over both Hester, Bennett and Know. Both Hester and Bennett had better Y/C and Knox had better YAC. His two big games were nice, but the other games he took part in, he was a non-factor. I like his potential, and glad that he could be around a while, but I think a few fans are stuck just watching highlight film instead of the whole picture.

I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
