I wish they would go back to two-a-days.

Or at least have morning practices alternating with afternoon ones. Every year I try to see two practices before the 8 hour drive home. With this schedule, if I want to see two I’ll either have to pony up for one more night in a hotel or get home around 1 AM with my young kids. I miss Platteville.

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.

I would miss Bearbonnais

So we’re even. But I win.

If I did what I love for a living, what would I do in my free time?

Did you ever attend Platteville?

Shooting pool with Chris Zorich. Un-frickin’-believable. Getting to actually talk to players after practice as they’re leaving the field? Amazing. This horse and pony show in Bourbonnais? Family friendly? Definitely. FAN friendly? Trust a baptist college to ruin this completely. Bourbonnais is a sterile, unfriendly to anything adult (no alcohol or tobacco allowed on campus) controlled environment. Not that I want drunken, nicotine filled rowdiness occurring at training camp but these nazis campus police take it to an entirely new level. You can’t do anything remotely resembling a traditional tailgate at Bourbonnais. Even completely responsible drinking is seen as reprehensible. If you smoke, you are screwed. Go a mile or three from the practice grounds if you wish to strike a match outdoors or you will be firmly chastised and then removed from the facility. They have a tunnel (about 90 feet) of access to the actual players walking on and off the field and THAT’S IT. If you lose you position near that area, forget it, you ain’t getting it back. In other words, if you want autographs and a chance to speak with the players, forget watching practice, MAN YOUR POST! Platteville provided an actual chance for players to interact with the fans as they went to the practice grounds and as they left. It was OPEN to the public yet still provided the players with adequate protection. Bourbonnais SUCKS for real fans! Miss Bourbonnais if you will, you’d LOVE Platteville….

No training camp for me as usual, but it's a loooooong trip.

I’m ready for camp to start, although I don’t want to amp myself up too much like last year. I can wait patiently for it to start…..has it started yet? No… Damn…. How bout now?

BearNecessities you're my assistant, okay you're supposed to
back me up and go get me juice boxes when I tell you. Now go get me
a juice box.

Any of you guys go to these before?

I’m looking to go this year. Wondering if it would be better to attend the Family Night at Soldier or go to a practice in Bourbonnais. I’ve never been to either. You guys have any thoughts?

If you want autographs

go to Bourbonnais. Family night is a good chance to enjoy Soldier Field and really watch a practice but you get closer to the players at training camp. Plus if you hit some of the local drinking establishments you may actually get to enjoy a drink with some of the players.

If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.

I take my younger siblings to Bourbonnais

Every year for the last two, and we’re going back this year. I’m probably getting a cheap hotel this year and doing two days in a row. It’s a good time, lot’s of Bears enthusiasm and events for the kids. I never get much out of watching the practice, in comparison with watching games or anything on TV. It’s hard to evaluate the players in that setting.

But, the kids have fun, there is usually plenty for them to do, and it’s a good excuse to road trip a little (It’s like 4.5 hours) and bond with them.

But, it can get hot, be sure to bring the essentials like sunscreen, water, etc…

Ask me about Tom Thibodeau!!!

IS WCG gonna have a correspondent at camp?

Aren't you going to go?

I can hear/read it now…..

Reporting from Bourbonnais I’m special WCG correspondent Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.; back to you Ron.

Sounds nice huh. :)

Dane Noble: Boy, that escalated quickly… I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Kev H: It jumped up a notch.
Dane Noble: It did, didn’t it?
Lester A. Wiltfong, Jr: Yeah, I stabbed Rashied Davis in the hands.
Dane Noble: I saw that. Lester killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Lester A. Wiltfong, Jr: Yeah, there were Bears, and a man with a rocket for an arm, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Lester, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you’re probably wanted for murder.

Again, I apologize for the way my mind works.
