What's on my mind....
Hello Everyone!
It has been sometime since the last time.
I have been somewhat avoiding the site to catch up on my life, or what little I have of one. I can see alot of optimism here and a ton of excitement for this upcoming year.I personally cant wait till football starts and I wanted to share a few thoughts with you guys:
First: Julius Peppers: When we signed him I about Pooped myself and I am sure some of you felt the same way. But as time has gone on I have come to dread the possibility of a Albert Haynesworth-esque Peppers. In 2007 when Peppers was NOT Franchised he played 14 games... 2.5 sacks. Haynesworth last year...12 games played 4.0 sacks. I am concerned that the vast amount of guaranteed money that he has recieved will make him disinterested in playing football.
Second: Mike Martz: Sure Martz led the greatest show on turf and all that... but since then? 3-13, 7-9 and 7-9. It doesnt inspire much confidence in me to have a coach who hasnt coached a winning season in 4 years. And his offense is a turnover machine.
Third: Matt Forte: I know what he did his rookie season but I am concerned that the knee injury he suffered in 2008 is still a problem in 2010. I am afraid that he is not ever going to be the player that we thought he was.
Lastly: The Defense: I know what everyone will say, but the truth is we have improved our defense with a DE that may or may not actually want to play football and the otherside with a tandem of players that have failed in every oppurtunity to play full-time. Our secondary is a joke even though we brought in Harris and Wright mainly based on Tillmans injuries and ineffective play calling.
I am sure that many here will disagree and call me a Negative Nancy or what have you but these are things that everyone here needs to remember.

where Martz is concerned...
remember that when he coached the Lion’s and the niners, there were huge improvements on offense. still, the former is a bad team and the latter is a group of underachievers. Personally, I think Mike Tice as our O-line coach is more significant than the Bears employing the Martzfense.
I don’t think Forte will be a problem this year, even if he does have injuries. we have something this season that we didn’t have in 2009; depth at RB.
The jury is still out on the defense, as well as Peppers. Rod Marinelli was suppose to be the savior of the defensive line last year, so you have a right to be skeptical about their performance this year seeing that he got promoted to DC

Hell, I didn't think he was even on here anymore.
Thought maybe one of those escaped panthers finally got him.

Somebody is asking for a visit from this guy...

Granted, though, a little dose of skepticism last year would have helped lessen the pain after Game 1. And probably helped lower the booze bill too.

seriously what a jerk
he is clearly spilling all over the place and his grin indicates he has no intention of cleaning that red koolaid off of the nice white surface.

Optimism is all we have
It’s the off-season
Last year was… ummm not good
Many wanted a complete overhaul of the front office, they didn’t get it
Others wanted certain other coordinators, we didn’t get them
So that leaves nothing but to do as all fans must, pull up those boot straps and wish for the best. But yes, some reason will go along way, even if it doesn’t help the booze bill (as stated by oripunk3485)
Haynesworth seems like a headcase AT BEST
Peppers is a different kind of player. I’ve been following him since his days at UNC and he’s a hard worker, always has been. I’m not saying production WON’T drop off, but it’s not going to be Haynesworth-esque.

Why is Tillman labeled as injury prone?
He’s missed only 6 games the last 5 years?

I dunno, but remember when Steltz took him out last year?
Yeah they should cut Steltz.
If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.

Sure he misses few games but
He plays through injuries that not only slow him down but limit his effectiveness. The shoulder last year. The wrist before that and the knee (or ankle) before that

I don't know... but I will tell you when I see him play...
Like when I saw him playing awkwardly in the 1st half against the Vikings, predicted an injury, then he got injured…. The Game thread where I make the prediction is in the witness protection program, part of a conspiracy no doubt.
He certainly wasn’t healthy in the 1st half, before he was seriously injured in the 4th. He would be a great #2 CB, but I have never been thrilled about him as our franchise CB, especially since Mike Brown left.
There is a difference...
between missing games and playing at 80% because you are injured and there’s no effective backup. I believe Tillman has had more surgeries than the New Jersey housewives combined in that last 3 years!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
Forte- I think his head got a little big from his rookie success, maybe he didn’t train as hard as he could of??? I hope thats it anyway.
Peppers- yeah I prey to God you are wrong and he is nasty, but Brown left me scratching my head.
Martz- he is a good OC IMO and will work well with Cutler.
Defense- we need some inside pressure rom Harris and that will help everyone. But if Wright is the FS thats a little scary its so important I hop he can handle it.
Since the face been revealed the game got real
Welcome back...
it’s the offseason, so we just get to make up more stories anyway. Once the preseason games get under way then we can start arguing again!

I would not be too worried about Matt Forte
Forte was injured and had a bit of a sophomore slump, that type of slump is expected for most 2nd year players once other teams have some film on the guys.
Not to mention the fact that if Forte is not up to par, Chester Taylor still has plenty of tread left on his tires.
Maybe you should put Peppers back as a safety, you might need some help there :)
