Just another Bears fan (Military Roll Call Edition)
I just wanted to right a quick post about what it means to me to be a Bears fan in the military.
I grew up in Geneseo, Illinois, a small farm community that lives for Sundays. I used to watch every Bears game with my friends and family just as every Bears fan does. I have always loved Bears football but its true that sometimes you dont realize what you have until its gone! I joined the Navy in 2002 and since have been on 3 deployments to the gulf and spent many other days out to sea. Im not sure how many Bears games I missed over the last 8 years, but I came to realize that it wasnt just the Bears that I was missing. It was the fact that the Bears used to bring my family and friends together once a week to enjoy what was the best day of every week. I missed out on God knows how many good and bad plays to cheer and beer to. All of the arguements I would get in with the few Packers fans in my town. I missed what Bears football would bring as a whole. I just recently have been able to start enjoying a few years back on land and this season has been my excitement for a long time. I have a baby boy that I get to dress up in his little Bears jerseys and try to convince him that Soldier field is not the place where dad goes to work, but a place that he will hopefully come to know as the field in which the Bears played there way to the 2010 Super Bowl Championship! And no matter what happens this season, My family and I will finally once again be able to enjoy the greatest sport and team in the world. Da Bears 2010!

Thanks for this and for your service.
Great post.
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
I remain a pessimistically hopeful Bears fan.
Good man.

Thank you for your service, and for sharing what being a fan means to you. It’s always interesting to see a different perspective. :]

This is the part I’ve missed the most over the last several years, but since coming on here, it’s helped fill that void somewhat. especially during game day.
They don’t have TV’s when you’re on Boat? <——-dunno, Air Force guys don’t know anything about you squids

Awesome juicebox, I’ll tell you one thing I know about Navy people, they don’t like it when you call their ship a boat.
If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.

however
my Marine friends have taught me it’s better to listen/fear Marines than Navy folks. and the Marines call deploying “going on boat”
so I just go ahead and say what they tell me to.

I don't listen or fear either based on my service branch superiority.

Roll call #2 of the day:
All current and former volunteers of our great military service please speak up and be recognized. Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do, and thank you for allowing WCG to be a part of your day, be it at home, or especially abroad!
So, who are you, and what is/was your service?

Maybe, maybe not. I do know this little fact though.
As a sandwich will not make itself, a juicebox will not fetch itself. Solution- go get me one.

I cannot thank you all enough...
but I’ll damn well try. I was born on an AFB, but I’ve never served. I have friends in all branches and I’ve lost a few to the “conflicts” of the last few years.
Fortefan09, to you specifically, thanks and congrats on the new kid.
To all of you in the service, KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN AND COME HOME SAFE!
These Packer/Viqueen fans don’t hate themselves you know!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!
Dad was a Drill Sgt. in the Army
Lived my life from 0-16 yrs as an Army brat. To all the soldiers of any branch, I(we) of the U.S. thank you. The sacrifices are a little much, but the gratitude you receive pays for it IMO. No person(s) are more thankful than the people you defend day in and day out. Thank you for your services.
WILDCARD BITCHES!!! YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!
My father was a staff sgt. in the Army.
So I second your thanks. :]
