Maybe it's just me
But I kind of think that Martz is going to say “You want a gameplan? Here you go” and slaughter the Raiders this weekend.
If I did what I love for a living, what would I do in my free time?

While it is the Raiders
Who is going to execute? LeFevour or Grandpa Collins after 3 days of practice? Cutler probably plays one and done again and Lovie pulls the starters soon after.
Hopefully not but it is Lovie, a coach is knows as softer than Charmin.
Perhaps...
You would rather have had Cutler take the hit that strained Hanie’s shoulder? Eli Manning played into the second quarter last night, w/ a 3" gash on his forehead for his efforts.
I understand wanting your 1’s to get some meaningful game time, but it’s a fine line to balance. Remember the meaningful snaps that Grossman took in ’05?
Eh
Grossman was still doomed to misery right from the start. I don’t know if anything would’ve saved him.

Oh please
Even Ron Turner can slaughter the Raiders.

The Raiders won
The Bears lost.
So right now they are the better team

Biggs tweet:
Mike Tice pleased with the 1st preseason effort by revamped #Bears offensive line: http://bit.ly/9tGgSz
Uggghhhh! I know it was the first pre-season game, but enough with the propaganda. Tell it like it is: our line play sucked, but they’ll hopefully get better.

Stupid babies need the most attention!
The starters
were average at passblocking, and not quite as runblockers.
But also, you played Beekman at center a majority of the game. And it was their first. So I was relatively pleased with what they did, I’d just like to see them come off the ball better. That said, they consistently saw a safety or corner going past them, even while they had their man locked up.

Their run blocking was more than "not quite"
It was downright atrocious. Lemme see… atrocious run blocking and average pass blocking. Maybe I’m just not as easily pleased.

Beekman looked awesome!
Watch out Kreutz!
In the 8th grade Mike Ditka won his school's Science Fair with a model of a working volcano. There were 17 other working volcano's made that day, but only one named Mount Ditka.

Also from Biggs on the twittosphere:

Confirmed what @JasonLaCanfora reported that Todd Collins has turned down offer to sign with #Bears as backup QB.
BradBiggs
#Bears were not willing to offer Collins a small signing bonus or any guaranteed money. Like GM Angelo said, backup QB apparently about $.
BradBiggs
Angelo cont.: "Usually when you pay your starter the kind of money that we paid Jay, the backups don’t make a lot of money."

Well that says something about how non-severe they believe Hanie's injury is...
He’ll be back for the season, no sense in paying a guy to be a camp body.

Mike Martz:
“Whisper Coacherer”.
More running back controversy from Jay:
“Matt’s our guy,” quarterback Jay Cutler said. “When we run in Chester, Matt’s (still) our starter. But it’s hard to go through a 16-game season with one back. You’ve got to have a change-up guy. You’ve got to have somebody else in there to take some carries and some pressure off of him.”

I think the Bears are pairing Manning with Harrisfor learning purposes
I think Manning sits out and watches Harris at the SS while Wright is at the FS, then brings Manning in at SS and switches Harris to FS to give Manning some reps.
I think it makes sense since Manning is the “more athletic” safety.
The Bears desperately need for him to pick up the defense and show some instincts sometime early on in the season in order for this defense to be successful. Wright will be a starter, but his compliment safety needs to have some explosion and speed as well.

I heard he need to have his knee scoped and will be out a few weeks.
My source is ESPN radio so I can’t post a link since I heard it, well on the radio.

I have never been a big Mike Martz fan,
despite his couple of successful years at St. Louis he just seemed like a weird guy. The interview with Dan Pompei was very good and made him seem like a more normal person. The one line referring to his own career in school as a tight end was excellent and makes me like him better.
I was a triple threat — stumble, fumble and fall. That summed it up. I was really a glorified lineman. I caught a couple passes.
It also explains....
His understanding and preference for the TE as a blocker first, second and receiver 3rd.

Marcus Harrison on a short leash?
Word is the Bears continue to be frustrated by third-year DT Marcus Harrison, who continues to be outplayed by Anthony Adams despite being three inches bigger and four years younger than Adams. “They still don’t know if he has what it takes mentally,” said one team insider of Harrison, who has missed practice time in training camp with heat-related problems. “They’ve given him every opportunity, but so far he has failed to deliver.”
