Uggghhhh! I know it was the first pre-season game, but enough with the propaganda. Tell it like it is: our line play sucked, but they’ll hopefully get better.

Confirmed what @JasonLaCanfora reported that Todd Collins has turned down offer to sign with #Bears as backup QB.

“Matt’s our guy,” quarterback Jay Cutler said. “When we run in Chester, Matt’s (still) our starter. But it’s hard to go through a 16-game season with one back. You’ve got to have a change-up guy. You’ve got to have somebody else in there to take some carries and some pressure off of him.”

I think Manning sits out and watches Harris at the SS while Wright is at the FS, then brings Manning in at SS and switches Harris to FS to give Manning some reps.

I think it makes sense since Manning is the “more athletic” safety.

The Bears desperately need for him to pick up the defense and show some instincts sometime early on in the season in order for this defense to be successful. Wright will be a starter, but his compliment safety needs to have some explosion and speed as well.

Okay, maybe he is injury prone…phew!

despite his couple of successful years at St. Louis he just seemed like a weird guy. The interview with Dan Pompei was very good and made him seem like a more normal person. The one line referring to his own career in school as a tight end was excellent and makes me like him better.

I was a triple threat — stumble, fumble and fall. That summed it up. I was really a glorified lineman. I caught a couple passes.

Word is the Bears continue to be frustrated by third-year DT Marcus Harrison, who continues to be outplayed by Anthony Adams despite being three inches bigger and four years younger than Adams. “They still don’t know if he has what it takes mentally,” said one team insider of Harrison, who has missed practice time in training camp with heat-related problems. “They’ve given him every opportunity, but so far he has failed to deliver.”
