They're doing Da Bears
TC breakdown on Mike and Mike in the next few minutes. I think Briggs is going to be calling in, not positive though.
WILDCARD BITCHES!!! YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!
Wow, really. I have no faith that any of them over there at the
world wide leader have any idea what they are talking about. I’m going to get my own show and just be wrong all the time and not know what I’m talking about, I’m sure I’ll get plenty of people to listen as long as I talk about Ochocino and TO in Adam Schefters bus kissing babies and sprinkling popcorn everywhere.
If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.
LOL I hear ya
They were mostly down on the receivers, Cutler’s production, and our O-line. Everything we’ve all heard already, so eh whatever. Golic went as far as to say there’s a possibility we finish last in the division.

lions are going to be 3rd
its the queens that will nosedive to the bottom this year. looking forward to watching the bears win at lambeau to edge the packers for the nfc north title this year.

They're sure the sexy pick right now
Two wins last season. Their secondary and O-line are still in shambles; should we notice a theme within the division? Shaky secondaries and O-lines across the board.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
Really? You do realize we have to play the Packers and Vikings twice... don't you?
And we have Dallas, NYG, Philly, Washington, New England, Miami and NYJ on our schedule. That’s 11 tough opponents right there.
We could realistically be 6-10 or get a few good bounces and be 9-7. If we finish 10-6 and make the playoffs… it’ll be a very impressive effort.

The only really tough teams of those that you mentioned are Dallas and the NYJ. The Dallas game is a ? and the Jets are a loss (the defense to tough for Martz’s offense). Miami will be tough but only because it’s a thursday road game. NYG, Philly, Wash, and NE are all winnable games. If the defense is healthy the Bears could easily take both games against GB and split with Minn. It’s not as hopeless as you think it is.
We are who we think we are.
JETS are OVERRATED !
The Saints clowned em. The AFC was weak last year. NFC teams are the powerhouse teams now. Saints Vikes Packers Cards were all better than Indy last year. ESPN loves east coast teams. I call BS on the Jets. They have a good D but lost TJ and LTis done. I doubt Shonn Green can stay healthy all year. Ravens might be the best AFC team. We are in the toughest Division. If the offense clicks this year we will make the playoffs. Detroit will have a very good offense and the Vikes and Packers are tougher than any two teams from any other divisions. I’m more worried about the teams in our divisions than anybody else. Somebody from the NFC NORTH is winning the SuperBowl

It's pointless to debate
about how many “tough” games they have this season. We all knew they would be playing the Packers and Vikings- both teams still have issues on their O-line and secondaries. If not for ridiculous Ints by Cutler, the Bears would’ve beat the Pack both times. In my mind, they bridged the gap between those two teams as far as depth and talent, so it’s really going to come down to scoring points in the redzone rather than turning the ball over.

It's all specualtion at this point
Rodgers could go down with a freak injury, along with key injuries to dallas and the reast of the NFC/AFC east.
I’m still betting we go 16-0

I'm well aware of who we have on the schedule.
I didn’t jump up and down and say oh why didn’t they say we’re going to the superbowl. No, I disagreed that we are a 5 or 6 win team. I don’t really think it’s that much of a stretch to think that our team is better than 5 or 6 wins. Nothing is automatic so I for one don’ know why we are just going to give up now and say we’ll here’s who we have to play and they might be as good this year as last so we can’t win those games. You know our season last year could’ve been much different if we hadn’t had some key injuries on defense, so who’s to say on of the annoited good teams don’t have a similar misfortune? I don’t wish injuries on any team but it’s a part of the game and it can make a good team bad real quick. Remember Tom Brady and his ACL a few years ago, you think they make another 11-5 run if he goes down? And why all the love for Washington, yeah they got Mike Shannahan and McNabb, but what did McNabb do for the Eagles last year? If he was so great why isn’t he there anymore? I think Washington is going to experience the Cutler effect with McNabb and I think the switch to the 3-4 in addition to everything else is going to take more time for the team to gel. But I could be wrong, so I guess I’m qualified to be an analyst.

yes. our season could have been much different last year

Is that where were going to go with this one.
I speak of injuries and the overall effect on a team and I get back we’re 5-11 if two teams make fg’s. Fine we’re 16-0 if we play perfect last year and everything goes our way. I get you have your doubts about the team, but my point was I think the Bears are better than a 5-6 win team, you don’t agree with that and I’m fine with it.

just sayin its hard to criticize golics opinion
When this is a very average team by all accounts who will finish couple games above or below .500 on the way the ball bounces

Yea but if we don't false start against ATL
and throw a TD against SF in the end…then we are 9-7
The point people are missing is, we won 7 games, added some serious talent at RB and DL, how does that make us a worse team?

we added a 30 something year old
Third down back. And you guys are over celebrating it. Do you guys ever watch any other teams play football? There are teams in the btcellnet with some serious blue chip talent all over the field. The bears are not one if them
We added peppers after a year when lovie touted rod marinelli as our biggest addition. He failed to improve the pass rush so we had to trade for gains Adams and sign peppers.

all teams have holes...
We filled two with Peppers and Taylor and tried to fill another at FS but that likely won’t be much of an impact this season with a rookie and Chris Harris is an upgrade over last year. We also have 54 back. We got rid of Ron Turner finally and put in Martz who has a history of quick turnarounds. Cutler should be much improved and so should our wideouts. The difference between greatness and and a losing season is very small at the NFL level. You have to be lucky and injury free for the most part to win the big game. Nobody knows who will be good this season and to bash the bears on a bears blog in the preseason is pointless. This is the time of year to be optimistic. We have the franchise qb for the first time. Spent the most $ ever in the offseason and while we didn’t get rid of Lovie, we improved the coaching staff. This is a new era in Bears history and I am very excited about it.

How does one of the better 3rd down backs
in the league not make us better this year? I don’t care if he’s 30, he is a solid player, and is without argument, better than anyone on our team other than Forte.
We did add Peppers like you said, but haven’t mentioned how that makes us worse? other than saying Rod failed, and Gaines passed away. so, Peppers makes us better.

This is a tougher schedule this year,
But, you can make the case that the Bears can get off to a strong start in the beginning through the much softer half of the schedule. Besides for Cowboys and Giants away, it’s not impossible to see them going 6-1 before the Bye week.
Those first weeks are crucial, however, for establishing the offensive attack, that despite everyone’s high expectations, will still be going through some growing pains of executing a new, complex system.
Dolphins away could be a difficult matchup on the short week and will determine if this team is really able to gut out the tough wins necessary for a playoff berth. I’m banking on an Eagles implosion (Being a long time Mcnabb suporter and still seething at the heartless Philly fans for running an upstanding player, and person out of town), and I think we can carry the day against a struggling Kolb or would be starter Michael Vick if he gets the nod for the job.
Looking at the tail end of the season, the last 4-5 games are what will send us into the post-season or leave us with another regular season exit and the fire sale of the organization that could and should follow.
I expect a much more confident and solid Lions squad by this point in the season and I think this will be a tougher game than most expect or want. Patriots is a toss up because Tom Brady will always be a factor regardless of the supporting class but this will be another must win at home late in the year. I can see the Vikings game going either way, it depends on if Grandpa Favre’s body can hold up to this point in the season. I believe in the Jets hype and don’t see us coming out on top. However, this will be a hard-nosed, gritty game against the best defense in the NFL and their powerful rushing attack and even though I think it will be close, on paper they just look too good. Green Bay always plays well at home, and this game could determine who takes the division. I can’t wait for this matchup in January and if the Bears have the determination, they may be able to steal this game at Lambeau.
I see our boys as a 10-6 team that could steal the division, and if this team can come together like we all hope it will, we might see a run at the NFC title game against the defending Saints and I like our chances with the explosive offense in that NO dome b bringing back the glory of “The Greatest Show on Turf”.
Is it too much to hope for a Super Bowl season? Maybe, but man…that punch sure does taste great!
The Cowboys are vastly overrated every year at this time, ALWAYS. Giants are trash, and I don’t care what stats or whatever any of you have on this, they are just not together, Defense has issues, Eli manning, pshh, I’ll take Orton over him.
I think the Jets will be tough, but will the media spotlight and pressure make or break their season?
I think we oversold ourselves last year on expectations, and now this year, with a solid squad that should really come together, we are underselling so if we end up 6-10, we all say “i knew it was coming”

I am really looking forward to Urlacher coming back strong this year, but...
did anyone else who lives in the Chicago area see his interview on Fox’s Final Word last night? His arms looked really thin and weak. I’m hoping it was just the camera angle but it made me wonder how much weight training he’s been able to do for his arms and upper body. Shedding blockers has never been his strong point and I’d be concerned about how much that wrist can take. Hopefully, it’s not an issue.
Can anyone who has attended the practices so far comment? Like I said, maybe it was just the camera angle.
maybe u should go to camp and tell #54 his arms look thin and weak...
J/k. I was there Fri and he looked good. Peppers is a MONSTER !

Thanks,
glad to hear that, he should have a big year if Tommie can stay healthy and play up to his potential.
Urlacher has never really had those ballooned up arms.
I think he is one of those guys that just has a natural strength most people don’t have.
I really like Tice. From the Q&A with Larry
Tice on Chris Williams
I thought he had a good first night, and I think he has the ability to be whatever he wants to be. I’d like to see a little more tenacity there, but we can’t change people’s makeup. Just because I’m a turd doesn’t mean that all the players are going to be that way.
Tice on Beekman
I did single him out for having good pad level. But then again he’s only 4-11. He was one of the guys who did have good pad level and probably because of that reason.
Also in the interview, Tice gives an indication that LT and C are the only spots on the line that are locked in (Williams & Kreutz). Hopefully all the competition makes us better.
I think it will.
Also
Beekman was another guy that I singled out, that I thought—except for a period where we took our helmets off and it seemed like the whole group went to sleep—had a solid night
Makes a change from the absolutely everything’s smelling of roses soundbites that you get out of Lovie and JA.

if....
The defense gets on point and stays healthy most the season that should n good. If the offense click right away then we should have nothing to fear. I think we can beat Dallas, NYj and the G-men. And if we talking about the record I took us on a limb and say between 10-6 to 12-4 and possible bye in the playoffs. I’m drinking the blue and orange spiked kool-aid all the way this year and hopefully ill be back in IL for our super bowl. BEAR DOWN everyone.

not much interesting stuff, but I was mainly intrigued by:
“For what it’s worth, the Bears’ roster includes the biggest safety I’ve ever seen. Rookie Quentin Scott, an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa, is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. Both figures might be understatements. I have no idea if he can play, but, I mean, wow.”
Almost certainly no room on the roster for him, but not only is he huge, he ran well too…
hes obviously never seen urlacher plsy safety!
