Training Camp So Far: What's giving you hope for the Chicago Bears right now?
For me, it's this guy to the right.
We've had a few days of camp now, the guys have put on some pads, and we've been hearing some good stuff, a few bad things, and, well, the same things over and over.
I like what I'm hearing about the tight ends, and apparently some of the guys in the secondary are making plays. Forte looks fast and healthy, and the receivers have been busting tails to learn their routes.
So what's working for you so far? Sound off in the poll, and discuss below.

If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.
What's tripping your trigger so far in Chicago Bears training camp?
Mike Martz, I do think he will figure it out if the O line can do their job.

I can't wait for some real in game action
I don’t think I’ve ever been this ready for preseason
In the 8th grade Mike Ditka won his school's Science Fair with a model of a working volcano. There were 17 other working volcano's made that day, but only one named Mount Ditka.

Agree for sure re preseason action
I voted optimism on the poll, because I’m trying to be optimistic that Peppers will be a difference maker, and that Urlacher will have an all pro season, and that Tice can get the O line to function more efficiently than they did last year. If they do, then I think Cutler will fare a lot better than last year as well. Lots of other reasons for pre-season this year too, given position battles. I’m stoked.

Sign me up too
I just paid through my eyes for the Ticket, and I’m actually intrigued by preseason games this year.
"In order to have a winner, the team must have a feeling of unity; every player must put the team first- ahead of personal glory" - motivational sign at Halas Hall.
Wonder if we will be seeing more 1st team in PS this year
Trying to get the offense implemented and timing etc.
Preseason
Can’t wait to see what this team looks like. Couldn’t agree more. My favorite part of the preseason is to see which under the radar guys either help or hurt their cause making the team. We know all about the vets, the young players are who the preseason is really for. And I can’t wait to see the Martz offense.
Hard for me to get too excited yet
But I am excited for preseason games to start. I voted TEs but I just never know, every year we hear about someone or a particular group doing well and then they disappear come the regular season.
"I was interviewing George Halas and I asked him who is the greatest running back you ever saw. And he said, 'That would be Red Grange.' And I asked him if Grange was playing today, how many yards do you think he'd gain. And he said, 'About 750, maybe 800 yards.' And I said, 'Well, 800 yards is just okay.' He sat up in his chair and he said, 'Son, you must remember one thing. Red Grange is 75 years old.' - Chris Berman
I voted Optimism
It’s exciting that everyone is so pumped for this season and has high hopes. While I’m not sold that we’ll be Super Bowl ready this year, I think we will improve from last. :]
"A lot of fans were drawn to me because they knew that whatever the score was, I was going to run as hard as I could on every play. You don't have that now, you have guys waiting for next week or even next year." - Walter Payton

Other
Hearing Pep is beating Williams is both good and bad. Hearing Harris has his step back is ONLY good. Hearing Anderson is consistently in the backfield and around the QB is good if he’s not a liability on running plays.
What is the Defensive Line, Alex.
I voted for booze
I’m a Cubs fan, that alone will make you hit the sauce, but as far as training camp goes, we hear this song and dance every year, I just hope we make it through the preseason without any injuries, so bottoms up.
What were they thinking?
WRs
I can’t help but be a believer in this group. Years previously I was dubious, but I truly think the top-3 will all have breakout seasons (pending health of course).

I have been glued to NFL network lately
They haven’t showed any 11-11 drills of course but Hester looked very, very good. I think he is primed for a 1000 yard season at least and barring any injuries I am positive he will get it.
The running backs also looked very solid, Forte looked real explosive during some cutbacks. I haven’t seen a whole lot from Taylor though so i will try and keep my eye on highlights of him.

Nice
I’ll have to catch up with the NFL network; I usually default to Espn for some stupid reason, and forget about it. I can’t wait for preseason games, cause I got the Ticket!

Well the only bad thing about it
Is that they only show training camp updates on NFL Access. The rest of the day is still Classic games/10 Best whatever/ Replays of last year’s games. I wish there was more coverage, maybe even aside from Access a seperate show just about training camp plays and progress. My main source from training camp so far still comes from this website.

Just got back to Iowa from training camp today and here's a few observations.
1. LeFevour and Teel appear to be camp arms at this point. Any significant snaps are split between Hanie and Cutler.
2. I forgot to mention this yesterday but the Honey Bears were at practice on Sunday!! I don’t know if that’s a sign of things to come or just a promotional thing but… Oh, and I’m sorry I forgot my camera.
3. Chester Taylor looks better than Forte at this point. Taylor is quicker to the hole and much more decisive.
4. Frank Omiyale false started in practice AGAIN today. He looks very shaky.
5. Beekman pancaked a guy today. Absolute crushing block on some back up but it was huge.
6. Robbie Gould did not practice. They did ST drills with the backup and Knox looked fantastic.
7. Tommie Harris and Julius Peppers looked great working on the same side of the ball today. Definitely getting pressure.
8. Training camp in Bourbonais has become waaaay to child friendly. There is almost no room for adults to get autographs with huge areas cordoned off for kids. Great for the kids but the majority of the fans aren’t under 12. Huge crowd again today. Absolutely more people than last year.
9. Mike Tice is a hands on coach. I watched him running drills with the o-line. He looks like the real deal.
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
I remain a pessimistically hopeful Bears fan.
Thanks for the update!
Frank Omiyale false started in practice AGAIN today. He looks very shaky
Tice did reveal, RT is a position up for grabs. I hope Omiyale gets his sh** together. Otherwise we’re lookin’ at Shaffer or Louis at RT. Which either means, Shaffer will really need to step up his pass blocking or Louis is gonna have to grow into his new role, really quick.
Tommie Harris and Julius Peppers looked great working on the same side of the ball today. Definitely getting pressure.
IMHO, if the Bears are gonna make a run. This must happen all season.

This is how it should be.

The original Honey Bears? We’re going to have middle-aged cheerleaders? Different, I’ll grant you…..

I voted defense
I go back to the 2005 defense that absolutely dominated most of year and lead us to an 11-5 record, literally without an offense. We set a record for fewest points allowed at home (thank you Bearshistory.com) and Urlacher won Defensive Player of the Year (one year after a serious injury).
We get back to playing defense like that. We will go back to the playoffs.
Urlacher won Defensive Player of the Year (one year after a serious injury).
Could history repeat itself this year????

Other-- Julius Peppers
Not the Defense with Julius Peppers— just him alone.
I have heard beat reporters RAVE about how explosive and quick he is against ANY tackle or guard that is lined up against him. Jeff Dickerson reported today that on one play from yesterday, Peppers literally seemed like he was on Cutler as soon as he finished making his drop into the pocket from the snap.
I am excited to have a REAL pass rusher on this team. Something I can’t recall having since legendary Richard Dent or SMac.
